Hijab Image Vandalised With Word “Terrorist” At Site Of Upcoming Marine Parade MRT Station

A police report was made after the word “terrorist” appeared on an illustration of a Muslim woman wearing a hijab, which was part of the artwork decorating a hoarding at the site of the upcoming Marine Parade MRT station.

Mr Haikal Latiff, 26, told The New Paper that he was on the pedestrian walkway beside Parc Seabreeze condominium in Joo Chiat Road at 10pm on Thursday when he noticed the word.

The undergraduate, who had tweeted a photo of it, said: “My girlfriend and I took it personally because as Muslims, we felt that this was uncalled for.”

When contacted, the Land Transport Authority said the contractor had made a police report yesterday afternoon.

The police said investigations are ongoing.

TNP understands that the word was written on a piece of paper with an adhesive back and stuck on the hijab.

The Marine Parade station is part of the Thomson-East Coast Line and is expected to be ready in 2023.

Passers-by TNP spoke to yesterday did not notice it until it was pointed out.

Secondary student April Panton, 15, said: “I have a lot of Muslim friends and I do not think they deserve to be treated like this.”

Tourist Joanna Niemiro, 27, who arrived here on Thursday, was shocked as she had heard that Singapore is a multiracial country.

The Polish graphic designer said: “I am quite disgusted by it. This is definitely not art. Anyone can be a terrorist, and it should not be associated with any religion.”

Perak Woman Buys Toys Set For Son, Shocked To Find Terrorist Figures

A woman who bought a building blocks toy set for her son here was shocked to discover that it contained elements that are offensive to Muslims.

40-year-old Mahnun Mat Isa, a teacher, said she was surprised to find the word ”Allah” and ”Muhammad” on a banner held by a ”terrorist-like” character in the game set.

“What’s more shocking is that the terrorist character (is wearing) an (Islamic turban),” she said

Mahnun had bought the toy set at a shop in Taiping and the product was made in China.

“I came to know about it when my son, who was playing with the toy, showed me the ‘terrorist’ character holding a banner which displayed the words ‘Allah’ and ‘Muhammad’,” she told reporters here yesterday.

Mahnun said she immediately lodged a police report and informed the Perak Islamic Religious Council (Maipk) in Parit Buntar on May 25.

Brother Of Yuri Boyka Came Forward To Defend His Brother: Account Was Hacked

A photo from Zaidy Nandir showed a posting by a person named ‘Isak Atiek’ who gave his condolences to Allahyarham Nadzrie and family. He claimed himself to be the brother of ‘Yuri Boyka’ who created a viral post online which hurled abuse on our fallen officer. In his defence, he said that his brother ‘Yuri Boyka’ account was hacked earlier in the morning. A police report has also been lodged. ‘Isak Atiek’ hopes that Allah we guide in dispelling this fitnah that has been spreading and surrounding his family.

Funeral Prayer For Allahyarham Nadzrie After Friday Prayers At Al-Khair Mosque

Salam semua. Insyallah jenazah pegawai polis, Allahyarham Nadzrie akan di solatkan selepas solat jumaat di Masjid Al-Khair. Bagi yang kelapangan, harap dpt hadir untuk solat jenazah beliau disana.

Hadis Abu Hurairah r.a katanya: Rasulullah s.a.w telah bersabda: Sesiapa yang menghadiri jenazah sehinnga jenazah itu disembahyangkan, maka dia seolah-olah mendapatkan satu qirat (qirat adalah kinayah bagi ganjaran pahala yang sangat banyak) dan sesiapa yang menghadirinya sehingga jenazah itu dikuburkan, maka dia mendapat dua qirat. Sahabat bertanya: Apakah dua qirat itu? Baginda s.a.w bersabda: Seumpama dua gunung.

Harap dapat spread message ini ye. Kalau kiter tak dpt pergi, orang lain yang pergi, kiter pun turut dapat pahalanya. Ameen. Alfateha.

Guidance from The Prophet (saws)

Hadrat Abu Hurairah (r.a.) reported: The Messenger of Allah (saws) said, “Whoever follows the funeral procession and offers the funeral prayer for it, will get a reward equal to one Qirat, and whoever attends it till burial, will get a reward equal to two Qirat.” It was asked, “What are two Qirat?” He (PBUH) replied, “Equal to two huge mountains.”

Masjid Hang Jebat Jadi ‘Dapur Pusat’ Bubur Ramadan Bagi 5 Masjid

Jika anda menjenguk ke belakang perkarangan Masjid Hang Jebat, sudah menjadi satu kelaziman untuk melihat beberapa ekor ayam berkeliaran bebas, persis seperti suasana di kampung.

Di sebalik suasana santai yang menggamit kenangan manis ini, Masjid Hang Jebat juga memainkan peranan amat istimewa pada bulan Ramadan.

Sejak Ramadan lalu, masjid di kawasan Buona Vista ini menjadi dapur pusat yang membekalkan bubur kepada lima masjid di serata negeri.

Dengan pembangunan pesat beberapa bangunan di sekitar masjid ini seperti kampus baru Mediacorp, Masjid Hang Jebat menjangkakan suasana lebih meriah termasuk pengagihan lebih banyak bubur Ramadan tahun ini.

JUMLAH BUBUR, JEMAAH BERTAMBAH

Jika pada tahun-tahun sudah, pihak kakitangan dan sukarelawan Masjid Hang Jebat sendiri yang menyingsing lengan, memasak bubur Ramadan untuk diagihkan kepada jemaah yang berkunjung.

Namun sejak Ramadan tahun lepas, tugas itu beralih kepada sebuah penyedia khidmat catering yang turut membekalkan kepada empat masjid lain iaitu Ar-Raudhah, Tentera, Mukminin dan Ahmad.

Di pihaknya pula, Masjid Tentera mendapati bilangan jemaah yang kian bertambah sejak baru-baru ini.

“Kebelakangan ini, Alhamdulillah banyak juga yang datang. Pasal mungkin di Mediacorp dan Ayer Rajah Crescent terdapat banyak ofis di mana pekerjanya mengetahui di sini ada masjid yang terpencil di dalam dan tidak ramai orang tahu. Kini Alhamdulillah semua sudah mula tahu, mereka datang waktu zohor, asar, sampai maghrib pun ada insyaAllah ramai sekarang,” kongsi Encik Nirwan Kamsin, seorang sukarelawan yang sudah berkhidmat di masjid itu selama lima tahun.

Selain para pekerja, tambah Encik Nirwan, masjid ini kerap juga dikunjungi jemaah yang dahulunya tinggal di kawasan perumahan berdekatan, yang ingin sekali sekala melepaskan rindu pada masjid itu.

Menurut pihak masjid, jumlah bubur yang diagihkan di Masjid Hang Jebat akan ditambah seganda berbanding tahun lalu, menjadi sekitar 200 bungkus sehari.

TIDAK HILANG SEMANGAT GOTONG ROYONG

Walaupun kesibukan aktiviti menyiapkan bubur kini diambil alih oleh syarikat katering, ternyata sifat gotong royong masih mekar di kalangan sukarelawan masjid.

“Sekarang gotong-royong itu tak banyak, mereka datang waktu maghrib untuk gotong royong untuk bantu waktu iftar sahaja. Tetapi, tetap ada, pasal banyak jemaah di sini semua,” tambah Encik Nirwan.

Bagi seorang lagi sukarelawan masjid, Encik Abdul Malik, beliau mengharapkan agar lebih ramai orang yang datang untuk mengimarahkan masjid itu.

Masjid Hang Jebat merupakan antara segelintir kecil masjid setempat di mana jemaah masih boleh dapat merasakan suasana kampung yang memberi imbasan keadaan masyarakat Singapura pada satu ketika dahulu.
