Muslimah: Hijabis Should Stop Thinking They Are Superior To Minahs

I once knew a Muslim girl who loved wearing short skirts, the shortest shorts possible and tank tops. She used to go dancing at discos with her boyfriend(s). Go out late at night.

I vividly remember one day, I saw her wearing the skimpiest of clothes, and thought to myself – Ya Allah, whats wrong with this girl? Why does she dress like that??

I judged her. At the time, I felt superior to her because I was covered. I didn’t say anything to her about it. I sort of stayed away from her. Didnt want to get ‘infected’. Syaitan had played a trick on me. He tricked me into thinking I was better because I went to halaqah, mixed with the ‘good’ kids, went to Islamic talks. My headscarf covered my chest and I didn’t wear revealing clothes.

A few years after that, I met her again, she had already started wearing a proper hijab and modest clothing. She had started going to Quranic classes as well. I was shocked, but happy for her. She told me she felt like a newborn. Like she was given a second chance to do things right.

Recently I met her again, this time she was wearing a niqab. I didn’t recognise her! She had changed so much. She held my hands and told me that I had somewhat ‘helped’ her to be better. That she read my fb posts and sometimes felt like I was talking to her.

All I felt was shame. She didn’t know that I judged her once upon a time. That I looked at her and had negative thoughts. That I didn’t say a sincere prayer for her to be a better Muslim.

We both had tears in our eyes. Hers was probably due to happiness and Iman.. mine was pure shame and guilt and fear.

Allah sent her to me to teach me a lesson. Astaghfirullah is all I can say.

Sharing this so it can be a lesson to all of us. A reminder for me. A slap in the face.

Never ever judge someone. It’s not our place to do that. We should only pray that Allah gives Hidayah to them. And that He continues to keep our hearts in line towards Him.

  • Two Trainee Malay SMRT Maintenance Staff Killed In Accident At Pasir Ris Station

Two Trainee Malay SMRT Maintenance Staff Killed In Accident At Pasir Ris Station

Two SMRT maintenance staff have died after an accident near Pasir Ris station, the transport operator confirmed on Tuesday (Mar 22).

“At around 11.10am today, there was an accident involving two SMRT maintenance staff along the track at a servicing point near Pasir Ris station,” said SMRT spokesman Patrick Nathan in a statement.

“SCDF was immediately activated and they have confirmed that the two SMRT staff have passed away. We convey our deepest condolences to their families and will be providing support to them at this very difficult time,” he said.

DECEASED STAFF WERE UNDERGOING ON-THE-JOB TRAINING

The deceased staff are Nasrulhudin Najumudin, 26 and Muhammad Asyraf Ahmad Buhari, 24. According to SMRT, both of them “joined the company in January 2016 and were undergoing on-the-job training at the time of the accident”.

“(They) were part of a technical team that went down to the track to investigate a reported alarm from a condition monitoring device for signalling equipment. Permission to access the track was authorised,” said Mr Nathan.

“Initial findings indicate that before the accident happened, the team was moving in a single file on the walkway beside the track, on the way to the location of the signalling equipment.”

The brother of a signals officer who witnessed the accident told Channel NewsAsia that the signals officer was “traumatised”.

Pasir Ris resident Francis Dorairaj, who was at the scene, expressed shock and disbelief. “Why were maintenance people on the track when the train was operating?” he questioned.

    INVESTIGATIONS UNDERWAY

SMRT said it is assisting the Police in their investigations into how the accident happened. The Land Transport Authority has also said that it “will be be assisting with investigation into the incident”.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the transport regulator said it is “deeply saddened” by the deaths and where necessary, it will extend assistance to the next-of-kin of the deceased staff.

    TRAIN SERVICES RESUMED AT 1.56PM

Train services along the East-West Line were also disrupted for about 2.5 hours. Free shuttle bus services were available until service between Tanah Merah and Pasir Ris in both directions were resumed at 1.56pm.

  • Cheat Claimed To Be Brother Of Wong Kan Seng

Cheat Claimed To Be Brother Of Wong Kan Seng

You could argue the man in the dock looked a little like former Deputy Prime Minister Wong Kan Seng. But Wong Kok Keong, 63, is not related to the former DPM.

Yet in 2007, Wong, who was then believed to be a freelance broker, told business acquaintances he was the then DPM’s brother.

Three directors and shareholders of Manor Construction were then duped into giving him $420,000 over two non-existent business deals.

Wong, who was represented by lawyer Edmond Pereira, was found guilty yesterday of two counts of cheating.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Hon Yi said Wong’s victims thought he had the right connections.

    FIRST DEAL

In September 2007, he concocted an investment deal involving land at 8, Yung Ho Road in Jurong.

He told his victims – Mr Lim Swee Guan, 55, Mr Chan Jee Khin, 42, and Mr Heng Choon Leng, 45 – he had acquired the rights to build a commercial building on the land.

He then invited them to invest in the project and told them the Option to Purchase (OTP) for the land was valued at $900,000.

The victims were required to pay 20 per cent of it, which came up to $180,000. After receiving a cheque for the amount from them on Sept 27, 2007, Wong immediately cashed it.

His investors later asked him on a few occasions to furnish them with the OTP documents.

Wong provided none and in April 2008, told the victims he would return the $180,000 as the investment had been unsuccessful.

DPP Hon said: “There was no such OTP that the accused claimed to have access to, and he was not the brother of then-DPM Wong.”

Similarly, Wong’s other investment dealturned out to be a sham.

Wong had told Mr Lim he could acquire “preferential shares” of Advance Modules at $0.15 per share, which would rise to $0.50 per share.

The trio wrote him cheques worth a total of $240,000 in October 2007.

Wong did not fulfil his promise.

Yesterday, Mr Pereira confirmed in court that Wong had made restitutions of around $200,000.

Wong is expected to be sentenced in April. He is an undischarged bankrupt.
