Man Loses Part Of Leg, Lives In Pain After Traffic Accident

He was riding home with his girlfriend after picking up some goods for his shop when he suddenly saw a taxi hurtling towards him.

The taxi crashed into his motorcycle and he fell onto the road. The taxi then ran over his right leg and crushed it, leaving him writhing in unbearable pain.

As a result of the accident on July 15 last year, Mr Quek Choon Hock, 61, had to have the lower part of his right leg amputated, and still lives in pain.

He now uses a prosthetic leg and a crutch to get around, but even a short walk can be excruciating.

On Wednesday, the taxi driver, Ishak Ismail, 59, was jailed for two weeks after pleading guilty to one charge of causing grievous hurt by acting negligently as to endanger human life.

He was also disqualified from driving for three years.

But Mr Quek and his girlfriend, Ms Chua Bee Toon, 54, who was also injured in the accident, were still upset with Ishak for putting them in their current situation.

PRC Couple Brings Outside Food To McDonald’s, Creates Ruckus When Confronted

I was at Serangoon Nex McDonald’s with my friends yesterday 26th August. And I saw this PRC couple eating outside food at McDonald’s. When confronted by the manager, they weren’t apologetic or embarrassed about eating outside food. Kudos to the manager who handled the situation calmly when he was shouted by the rude lady! They even challenged the manager to call the police! OMG!

Please share this video to everyone and make them famous. How shameless and arrogant can they be?! These people really bring shame to their people!

Workers’ Party’s Daniel Goh Denies Extra-Marital Affair With Former Student

Workers’ Party (WP) potential candidate, National University of Singapore sociologist Daniel Goh, has denied allegations that he had an extra-marital affair with a former student.

Several press in Singapore have received a letter on Thursday night from a “Max Chan” who alleged that Dr Daniel Goh had an affair in 2008 with a post-graduate student from NUS.

In the e-mail that was also sent to Workers’ Party secretary-general Low Thia Khiang and chairman Sylvia Lim, the writer questioned Dr Goh’s character and morals. He also claimed that the woman’s boyfriend, whom he referred to only as J, had found out about the alleged affair through her phone messages.

Dr Goh said he was advising the female student in her master’s thesis from 2007 to 2009. After she graduated, the student left Singapore to get a PhD.

  • SDP’s Sidek Mallek Wants To Champion The Plight Of Low Income Families

SDP’s Sidek Mallek Wants To Champion The Plight Of Low Income Families

Mr Sidek Mallek is a Compliance Auditor for a leading security company. A former civil servant, who in 1989, received the Finance Minister’s Commendation for Outstanding Work from Dr. Richard Hu, Sidek carries the same work excellence into the private sector. In 2008, his diligence earned him the Commissioner of Police Award for Outstanding Contribution.

Sidek also holds a Professional Certificate from the Institute of Administrative Management. Married with three children, he enjoys cooking, baking, bowling and simply chilling with his family.

Sidek joins the Singapore Democratic Party because he believes it a credible party that has studied and put forth many alternative policies to benefit Singaporeans. He is very concerned about problems low-income families face:

“Many people cannot afford basic necessities. It is unflattering and irresponsible for Ministers to say people who earn a mere $1000 a month can buy and own a HDB flat.”

Having contributed a fair share of his thoughts on such issues in the social media, Sidek is convinced it is now time to take them to parliament. He wishes to:

    • Highlight socio-economic problems faced by low-income families,
    • Cut red tape and provide assistance for needy citizens in a timely manner,
    • Improve job security and continuity,
    • Enhance educational opportunities for children of low-income families, and
    • Ensure single parents are treated equally in matters of housing, children education and other basic needs.

Sidek believes in the democratic process in addressing issues that impact Singaporeans’ quality of life and wellbeing. He hopes constituents will let him be their voice in Parliament.
