#freeamosyee, interestingly, we have been informed that Amos has been transferred from Changi’s Men’s Prison to Tanah Merah Prison… Amos has said that Tanah Merah Prison has mostly Malay youths.

We have also been informed that he has been threatened, slapped on the back and kicked while he was climbing up the stairs. A complaint has been lodged with the Prison Authorities, who had efficiently replied to say they will look into the matter.

Amos’ mother has put in an urgent request for Amos to be moved to Home Detention.

  • Amos Yee Gets 6 Weeks’ Jail For Wounding Religious Feelings

Amos Yee Gets 6 Weeks’ Jail For Wounding Religious Feelings

Teenage blogger Amos Yee was sentenced to six weeks’ jail on Thursday (Sep 29), after he pleaded guilty to six charges for wounding the religious feelings of Christians and Muslims.

The 17-year-old was also ordered to pay a fine of S$2,000 for defying two notices to turn up at a police station to give his statement.

“(Yee) is not lacking in his mental capacity to make rational choices in the way he conducts himself,” Principal District Judge Ong Hian Sun said, adding that he “deliberately elected to do harm by using offensive and insulting words and profane gestures to hurt the feelings of Christians and Muslims”.

The blogger’s “contemptuous and irreverent remarks” undermines the religious harmony in Singapore, and his conduct “should not be condoned or tolerated”, the judge said.

Judge Ong also said he hoped the punishment, while not overly harsh, would be enough to deter Yee from re-offending. “Hopefully we will not have (Yee) appearing again in this court for the same offence in the future,” the judge said, referring to Yee’s previous conviction.

Yee was sentenced in July 2015 to four weeks’ jail for the same offence. In total, he spent more than a month – about 50 days – in prison, after repeatedly breaching bail conditions.

For intending to wound religious feelings, Yee could have been jailed for up to three years, fined for each charge or both. For failing to show up at a police station, Yee could have been jailed for one month, fined up to S$1,500 per charge or both.

  • Amos Yee Invokes Court Process To Decide On Trial Position

Amos Yee Invokes Court Process To Decide On Trial Position

After several false starts, the first day of blogger Amos Yee’s trial yesterday was adjourned for the 17-year-old to use a court process that helps accused persons consider whether to claim trial or plead guilty.

He had earlier objected to a joint hearing for the two sets of offences he has been charged with.

When he was overruled, Amos told the court he would like the prosecution’s seven witnesses to testify orally, rather than through written statements.

Then, as his hearing was about to kick off, he told a judge he was “thinking of taking a certain course of action”.

Amos, who was not represented at his hearing yesterday, asked to go for Criminal Case Resolution (CCR), a court process where an accused person may ask for an indication of his possible sentences in a closed-door meeting with prosecutors that is presided over by a senior district judge.

CCR was started in 2011 to minimise wastage of court resources. It provides a neutral platform for parties to explore the possibilities of early resolution of criminal cases, instead of waiting until a trial starts.

When District Judge Lim Tse Haw asked why he had not brought up his request during his pre-trial conference, Amos said he only learnt about CCR through “sheer luck” while he was doing research.

He was given the go-ahead to attend a CCR session this morning, following which he would decide if he would want to continue to claim trial.

Amos faces six charges of wounding the religious feelings of Muslims and Christians and two counts of flouting an order to show up at a police station for investigations. Both sets of charges relate to content he posted online between November last year and May this year.

Amos argued that the nature of the two sets of charges are different and he would not have a fair trial if they are heard together.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Hon Yi countered that the alleged offences happened close together and were linked.

Amos was convicted of similar offences last year and was sentenced to four weeks’ jail. But he was released on the same day as the sentence was backdated to include his time in remand.

If convicted of deliberately wounding the religious feelings of others, Amos could be jailed up to three years and fined. For failing to turn up at the police station in spite of an order, he could be jailed up to a month and fined up to S$1,500.

  • Polis Malaysia Diminta Ambil Tindakan Terhadap Individu Cemar Quran Di Internet

Polis Malaysia Diminta Ambil Tindakan Terhadap Individu Cemar Quran Di Internet

  • Amos Yee Makes Video To Hurt Muslims, But Community Too Mature For Him

Amos Yee Makes Video To Hurt Muslims, But Community Too Mature For Him

Amos Yee has made an extremely provocative video with the intent of hurting the beliefs and sentiments of Muslims. The video is too vulgar to be shared with this post. We would probably get into trouble with the law if we did as well. But snippets from the video can be seen here: http://bit.ly/1VhKTjt.

If Amos had hoped to cause outrage among the Muslim community here with the video, judging from the comments found to the Facebook post, the exact opposite is happening.

They see him for who he is – an attention seeker.
    3

3The Muslims here do not view it as an attack from the Chinese majority.1They pity the mother and don’t blame her upbringing for his waywardness.
    2

They have reported Amos to the authorities instead of taking matters into their own hands.
    4

And most importantly the Muslim community forgave him.567

And since Amos’ performance was so bad in the video, one suggested he should read another ancient text instead.
8Meanwhile the activists had an update form Amos’ mom.
