A Different Perspective, An Ally To The Cause: Non-Muslims Showed Greater Understanding And Respect

Among netizens that responded to the non-halal issues of the bazaar at Geylang Serai include of course our non-Muslim friends too.

If we did not care to notice, our Malay brothers and sisters may not have seen the way non-Muslims view the matter. Which is actually very heartening.

For Geylang bazaar in Ramadan to be free of non-halal food, the cause may be closer to the hearts of Muslims, however for the non-Muslims the issue do concern them too and this is what some have came out to say.

They showed greater understanding and respect for halal requirements. Salute!

As such, there exist the need to observe halal dietery requirements of bazaars operating in the month of Ramadhan targeting at Muslims. And these are indeed prime examples of how diversity should be celebrated in our multi religious and multiracial society in Singapore.

Best of all, most Muslims and non-Muslims share this common believe.

  • Commentary: Boycott Geylang Bazaar? Rising Rental And Non-Halal Food Are The Critical Reasons

Commentary: Boycott Geylang Bazaar? Rising Rental And Non-Halal Food Are The Critical Reasons

    Bazaar Ramadan…

    Part1
    Sewa gerai makan= $17000
    Sewa gerai jual pakaian= $7000
Tahun demi tahun, sewa gerai semakin tinggi. Tauke gerai buat bidding, kes tamak nak mampos. Tahun depan confirm naik lagi. Peniaga melayu semakin berkurangan kerana tak mampu bayar sewa yg tinggi. Dulu sewanya tak setinggi macam ni, dulu ramai peniaga melayu tapi kurang pembeli. Masa tu ramai yg cuma lalu lalang see see look look. Peniaga musiman jadi serik nak meniaga. Sekarang peniaga melayu semakin berkurangan, kita pula complain. Kesian pada peniaga melayu, tak berniaga kerana sewa yg mahal. Perit orang kita tak rasa. Adat berniaga ada pasang surut. Untuk elak dari benda ni berlaku, kalau orang Melayu bersatu hati, kita boikot bazaar geylang kasi tauke rugi. Kalau takde penyewa gerai, tauke gigit jari. Biar dia bayar hutang bank sendiri. Kita belanja aje kat Joo Chiat dan pasar Geylang. Kasi untung peniaga tetap yg dah bertapak bertahun2 kat situ. Takde bazaar takpe, Geylang tak ‘berseri’, tak best pun takpe. Yg penting kita ajar sama itu tauke. Abih macam mana peniaga melayu nak berniaga? Online kan ada. Peniaga gerai makanan boleh buat kat bawah blok, yg tu betul Bazaar Ramadan. 100% makanan halal.

    Sambungan bazaar Geylang…
    Part 2
Semalam dah draft tapi hold dulu. Nak tembak kena save peluru.

    Menang bidding= $1.79m
    Paling murah 1 gerai= $7k
    900 gerai= $7k x 900= $6.3m
    Tauke untung= $6.3-1.79= $4.51m
Peniaga untung atau tak, tauke gerai tetap untung $4.51m, untung peniaga bergantung pada sales. Kalau rugi, peniaga tetap kena bayar sewa harga $7k dan lebih. So orang peniaga Melayu kena pandai, boikot besar besaran, kalau tauke menang bidding, tapi takde penyewa, dia tetap kena bayar duit bidding $1.79m. Kalau bazaar Geylang jual babi pun, biarkan aje sb menteri2 kita tak halang. Its ok sb itu bukan tempat Melayu/Islam lagi. Kalau dia hutang bank, itu pandai2 dia settle dgn bank. Kita jangan jadi barua pada tauke macam ni.

Mohd Khair: Singaporeans Are Capable Of Living Together Respectfully, Beyond Mere Tolerance

it is very HEARTENING indeed when Non-Muslim Singaporeans demonstrate deep understanding and empathy on the issues surrounding the ambiguous halal status of bazaar at Geylang Serai organised in the month of Ramadhan.

Read the screenshots shared here in this album. They show genuine concern of Non-Muslim Singaporeans on the issue of non-halal status of some foodstalls at Geylang Serai Bazaar, organised in the month of Ramadhan.

Such demonstration of care and concern is a fine example of how diversity is celebrated in the multiracial and multireligious society of Singapore.

Underlying such expression of understanding and empathy is the value of RESPECT, going beyond tolerance. Such thinking also reflects maturity living harmoniously together. Together, regardless of race, language or religion, the multiracial and multireligious society of Singapore should move more in this direction in living harmoniously with one another.

This album is saved here on this HCRS group as it reflects deep halal discernment among Non-Muslim Singaporeans towards the basic dietery needs of the Muslim consumer. Such discernment is very highly appreciated by Muslims who care so deeply on matters pertaining to halal foods.

  • Bazaar Ramadan Controversy Unnecessary, More Transparency Needed From PAP MP

Bazaar Ramadan Controversy Unnecessary, More Transparency Needed From PAP MP

Yang Berhormat Ahli Parliament Geylang Serai

Call the Ramadan Bazaar at Geylang Serai by any name, it doesn’t matter. Few will also object if you want to open it to those who want to sell non-halal food.

But do be upfront. Be transparent and please inform the public so as to avoid confusion and creating a controversy. An unnecessary one too, that should be best avoided especially in the month of Ramadan.

Most of us including myself have always thought that the Bazaar which coincides with Ramadan only sell halal food; so try to appreciate how upsetting it could be when we discover otherwise.

To matter matters worse, you seem to be taking the high moral ground and trying to pin the blame on us insinuating that we are against inclusiveness.

We can assure you that we are all for inclusiveness and multiracialism and have no objection to change the nature of the bazaar to include sale of non-halal food.

    But don’t do it surreptitiously.

My regrets for speaking so plainly in the month of Ramadan.

Ahmad Stokin: Usah Bertelagah Tentang Isu Halal/Haram Di Bazaar Ramadan, Ada Isu-Isu Lebih Penting Untuk Masyrakat Tangani

Pd pandangan ambo masaalah “halal/haram” tu doh jadi masaalah individu.

Pendapat ambo, salah kito2 lah. Antaronyo mungkin pendidikan ugama kito yg “asas” pon kito tak ado ya tak. apo ke tidak nyo, kalau ada komen yg “eleh yg penting nawaitu” hehehe ambo tanyo apo sebonarnyo nawaitu ko tu dik?

Soalan ambo : Apo bezanyo gerai berkenaan dibazaar yg tak ado sitikepit halal dongan gerai/warong/kedai prata rojak meegoreng n briyani si muthusami yg selama ini org2 kita langgani bertahun2 lamanya??? (wajib jawap tau) kehkehkeh

Cara kita tangani masaalah ini dgn mudah ialah kalau kita tau satu2 gerai tu menjual barangan yg tak halal, kita bersatu hati STOP jangan langgani gerai tu, “Tak ada pelanggan KOMPOM tutup bisnis dia” kankankan. Jadi kunci nya tu saja “bersatu hati” lah kita.

P/s ambo lebeh suko kalau kita lebeh pikirkan, lebeh perihatin tentang issue “TUDUNG” kita. Apasal ramai yg tak peduli? Apasal perjuangan terbengkalai separuh jalan, doh bertahun tahun pon kan.

Ohhhh Pelisssss jgn ckp itu masaalah lain ok,itu tetap masaalah kita.

Selamat berbuka nanti maghrib (pd yg puasa lahhhhh) hehe
