    Malaysians Rejoice Sepang’s Exit From F1, Singapore Continues To Be Ripped Off

    *Go away. We do not need old white men like Ecclestone to rip us off anymore*

    At first, I was perhaps 70% supportive of Malaysia dropping Formula One but after hearing what the moronic 86 years old former owner of F1 Bernie Ecclestone said, I am now 150% supportive.

    After Najib saw we were losing huge amount of money hosting F1 every year for 17 years, Malaysia decided to drop it from next year on.

    Ecclestone then shockingly admitted that F1 had been deliberately over-charging the venues including Malaysia for the rights to host F1 – hence causing them to make losses.

    In reply, our Sepang circuit boss Razlan Razali said that Ecclestone lacked respect and made promoters “look like idiots” when Ecclestone said they were deliberately overcharging.

    Ecclestone then replied that no one will miss Malaysia’s F1 as they still have Singapore. He then said:

    “Nobody made him look stupid, and it’s difficult to make people look stupid. If they are, they are,” and that it is not their fault that the Sepang race cannot make money.

    Well… Fook you, Eccelstone.

    We do not need to be deliberately ripped-off by old white men like you and treated with disrespect.

    We already have our old ex-PM to rip us off and insult us. We don’t need you, Ecclestone.

    No wonder so many famous tracks of the past such as Zolder and Zandvoort, Nürburgring and Brands Hatch had stopped hosting F1.

    South Korea even stopped their F1 in 2013 just three years after starting citing high costs.

    Even the famous Marseilles Grand Prix was axed for 10 years and will only resume next year.

    Therefore, I am now 150% supportive of not getting screwed by white-men, lose a lot of money each year (Forbes estimated the cost to be USD1 billion or RM4.34 billion over 10 years) and to add insult to injury, get insulted further.

    Our Prime Minister had made the right decision to drop F1.

    Don’t worry. You still have Singapore, right?

    F1: The Glamour Is Gone So Let’s Move On

    F1 supremo Bernie Whatshisnamestone said that Singapore might withdraw from the F1 circuit because we treated the F1 like a used tissue paper or something to that effect.

    He was telling the truth, you know.

    F1 is nothing but a glamour sport. In its heyday back in the 70’s, everyone was enthralled by the playboy lifestyle of the F1 drivers and the decadence and excesses of the spectators. It was a sport for the rich and famous and poor plebs like me could only sniff at the images of racing cars on the pages of soiled magazines on the library stands. Don’t judge me.

    But not anymore. The current champion, Lewis Hamilton is more pristine than a Greek virgin……oil. The cars they drive are so computerised that they are better off driving on the arcade machines and we are better off watching that.

    Even when Singapore first mooted the idea of hosting the F1, the excitement of the race was already on the wane. But we decided to proceed because we had a point to make. We wanted Singapore to be known as a global city to attract real foreign talents to work and live here and F1 could provide that pull. And consequently by successfully organising what was and still is a complex night race in the middle of a city, Singapore has shown to the world our innovation, creativity and never-say-die attitude.

    And so having achieved all that and our money-shot (see pic above), it is now about dollars and cents. If we are not making money out of F1, we should just stop hosting it.

    Uncle Bernie should understand all about money. He single-handedly polished a turd to sell it as a multi-billion dollar diamond.

    Seriously. Who would sit in the heat, breathing in the toxic exhaust fumes just to watch a bunch of racing cars zooming past in split-seconds forty-nine4 times? Unless it was all about hype.

    But the hype is gone now.

    So we should just say thank you to Uncle Bernie. All good things will come to an end. And the era of F1 in Singapore is truly over.

    F1 Supremo: Singapore Ungrateful, Not Interested To Extend F1 Contract

    The future of Singapore Grand Prix has been cast into fresh doubts after Formula One head honcho Bernie Ecclestone claimed the Republic no longer wants to host a race here.

    Speculation was rife during September’s Singapore Grand Prix on whether negotiations to extend the Singapore race when its five-year deal expires next year would be concluded successfully.

    In an interview with German magazine Auto Motor Und Sport that was published on Sunday (Nov 20), Mr Ecclestone — who once christened the Singapore night race the “crown jewel” of Formula One — claimed Singapore is not going to extend its deal.

    “Look at what we have done for Singapore,” the F1 chief executive was quoted as saying. “Yes, the Grand Prix has cost Singapore a lot of money, but we’ve also given them a lot of money.

    “Singapore was suddenly more than just an airport to fly to or from somewhere. Now they believe they have reached their goal and they do not want a Grand Prix anymore.”

    When contacted by TODAY, a Singapore GP spokesperson said they “don’t comment on ongoing commercial negotiations”.

    Mr Ecclestone’s comments came on the back of a poor 2016 edition of the Singapore race. Organisers Singapore GP reported that overall ticket sales at the Marina Bay Street Circuit were 15 per cent lower than the average attendance since 2008.

     

    In the interview with Auto Motor Und Sport, Mr Ecclestone also said that some of the current manufacturers – including world champions Mercedes – may quit in the near future.

    “It could happen to us that Mercedes and Ferrari run away,” he said. “But honestly, if the races get better, this may not be such a terrible vision.

    “We have to expect the manufacturers to leave us anyway. Mercedes will retire on the day when it suits them and it’s something we had before – look at Honda, BMW and Toyota. They go when Formula 1 has done the job for them. There is no gratitude.”
