    Eldery Man Found Dead At Foot Of Block Near Hougang MRT

    Stomper Roumimper Rayedem came across the shocking sight of a man’s body at the foot of an HDB block near Hougang MRT station this morning (Aug 26).

    He then spoke to another girl who had discovered the body and together, they called the police.

    Photos sent in by the Stomper show the man’s twisted body on the ground as well as police officers covering it with a white sheet.

    It is unclear which block this incident took place at. The cause of the man’s death is also unknown.

    Roumimper Rayedem said in a phone interview:

    “This Wednesday morning at about 9.57am, I was walking along the HDB flats and on my way to Hougang MRT station.

    “I found a body lying on the ground and noticed that he was an elderly man.

    “To my shock, I realised that I needed to do something. I called 999/995 for help immediately with the help of a girl who also discovered the body.”

    A Singaporean Woman Among Dead In Bangkok Blast

    A Singaporean woman was killed in the bomb blast that rocked Bangkok’s Ratchaprasong area on Monday night, reported local media.

    According to a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), some Singaporeans were injured in the incident.

    MFA said its embassy staff are providing consular assistance to affected Singaporeans.

    Dozens of tourists were injured in the bombing, which appeared to have been targeted at foreigners.

    MFA urged Singaporeans in Bangkok to take necessary safety precautions, avoid the vicinity of the explosion and to monitor the local news closely.

    Body Of 50 Year Old Found In Rochor Canal

    The body of a 50-year-old man was pulled from the Rochor Canal on Saturday.

    When The Striats Times visited the scene at about 1pm, the body was covered by a blue police tent near the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority of Singapore building in Lavender.

    Officers later carried a black body bag onto a police van parked in Crawford Street.

    It is understood that the dead man is an Indian Singaporean. The body was discovered at a quieter part of the canal.

    Police said they received a request for assistance at 10.20am.

    “Upon police arrival, it was established that a body of a man was found floating in the canal,” a spokesman said.

    “The body was subsequently retrieved from the river and the man was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.”

    Police are investigating the case as an unnatural death.

    Elderly Man Dead After Accident Involving SMRT Bus

    An accident involving an SMRT bus and a pedestrian left one elderly man dead on Monday (Nov 17).

    The Singapore Civil Defence Force said they were alerted to the incident along Jurong East Street 32 at 11.57am. They sent one ambulance to the scene, but the man in his 70s – later identified by SMRT as Mr Tan – was pronounced dead at the scene.

    Channel 8 News quoted eyewitnesses as saying that the lower half of the elderly man’s body was mangled, while a walking stick was seen on the road. It also said the bus windscreen was shattered in the accident.

    The driver was reportedly a 34-year-old female, according to Channel 8 News. Her relatives told Channel 8 News that she had only joined SMRT eight months ago, but had 13 years’ experience driving buses in Malaysia.

    An SMRT spokesperson said: “We would like to express our deepest condolences to Mr Tan’s family. We are currently cooperating with the traffic police on the investigations. We have contacted Mr Tan’s family and will render assistance as best as we can during this very difficult time.”
