Miss Charity Maru, also known as Charity Lu Lu Seng, finally tasted victory on Wednesday night.
The 24-year-old freelance translator beat 13 other contestants to be crowned Miss World Singapore 2015 at the One Farrer Hotel & Spa.
But her joy was quickly tainted by criticism online that she is not the best person to represent Singapore at the international finals on Dec 19 in China.
Miss Maru is a relatively new citizen, getting her pink IC only in 2007.

SG guys are generally hopeless, many are without any direction or goal in life. And since they live with their parents for much of their growing-up years and even adult lives, they’re not independent. Even NS, which is supposed to make them more independent, only teaches them to follow orders and the status quo.
Even within tertiary institutions, local guys seem so childish. Instead of talking about careers and similar fields, they usually hang out and talk about army or games. We want mature, responsible, financially-independent men who are able to provide a sense of security
A good hubby/boyfriend is one with not just a career-minded goal in life, he must also be a strong leader. That’s why I only go for Western men.
Since they usually leave their homes at an early age to stake out a bright future for themselves, many have the qualities I look for in men, and many have the will and resolve to attain success, which is rarely seen here.

Was here having lunch with my mum and saw this FDW with an old uncle opposite our table. The old uncle was having plain rice with veg and the FDW was having full plate of chicken wings, drumstick with rice. She was totally enjoying her food and ignoring the uncle even though he was coughing badly.
After a while, she cannot stand the coughing sight/noise, she left the old uncle alone at that table to eat by himself and shifted herself with her food to another table to enjoy her food!
This is ridiculous! Pls share to everyone, hopefully can reach the employer to let him/her know about how the helper is treating the parent.

A foreign worker who went to a flat to install a fibre optic cable earlier this year molested a 12-year old girl there. On Friday he was sentenced to nine months’ jail.
A district court heard that Chellamuthu Gajendran, 36 went to the flat at about 3pm on March 3 to carry out the installation works. The girl, a primary school student, was in the flat with her younger brother and she was reading a book in the living room.
About 15 minutes later, he asked to use the toilet and the girl showed him the way.
He then approached her and hugged her. He did this again later and also touched her breasts.
Shocked, the victim did not say anything and moved away. She sat down and continued to read her book. He repeated the acts and she pushed him away.
Asked if she liked it, she replied emphatically that she did not.
When she asked why he had done that to her, he said that he could not control himself.
The girl told her parents about the incident the next day via text message as she was too embarrassed to talk about it in person . Her father took her to make a police report that evening.
Gajendran was arrested on March 18.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Michael Quilindo said Gajendran had taken advantage of the fact that the girl was alone when he molested her in the sanctity of her own home.
Lawyer Rajan Supramaniam said his client, a father of two, is profoundly remorseful and offers his apology to the victim.
He said Gajendran had been working in Singapore for the past five years and had lost his job.
District Judge Low Wee Ping told Gajendran that he had been very foolish, and that he could have faced three charges and be punished with caning.
The maximum penalty for molesting a person under 14 years old is five years’ jail, fine and caning.

Saw this posting of crappy FT on the pros and cons of getting SG citizenship for her Son.
What really cheesed me is the policy of having an option for her Son to decide at the age of 21 years whether they want to stay or leave. And still got the cheek to respond they are having the same concerns?
To the FTs here…. If you do not have the intention to let your son serve NS after sponging on us for 21 years, don’t waste our taxpayers money supporting your son.
So this is the type of quality of new citizens our dear 69.x% endorsed has been targeting to secure? Dual passport citizens that runs when it’s time for them to pay back all the benefits they’ve been bestowed by our taxpayers money and enjoyed?!
What kind of crap policy does the incumbent 69.9% have that gives the option to chose which passport to retain at 21 years old?!
