  • Son Of Fallen RMAF Pilot Wants To Be A Fighter Jet Pilot Just Like His Father

Son Of Fallen RMAF Pilot Wants To Be A Fighter Jet Pilot Just Like His Father

My father had promised me that he will take us shopping for Hari Raya.

Eleven-year-old Mikhail Adam Riaz said his father, Major Yazmi Mohamed Yusof, one of the two Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) pilots who was killed today (15 Jun) in a Hawk 108 fighter jet crash, had informed him that he will be taking Mikhail and his five siblings to buy new clothes for Raya.

The boy said he last saw his father earlier this morning (15 Jun), when they had their sahur together.

“We went to bed and later woke up for Subuh prayers. My father led the prayer as usual which is a normal routine when he is back in Kuantan,” said Mikhail.

Yazmi is based at the Federal Territory of Labuan air base.

“I only got the news about the incident when we received a phone call at about 1pm,” he said when met at the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) forensics department today (15 Jun).

Mikhail said he hoped to follow in his father’s footsteps to become a fighter jet pilot and all his late father’s advice will be a motivation for him to achieve his ambition.

“My father has given me a lot of advice and guidance. I hope take on a similar job as him,” he said, adding his father has been in Kuantan for about a week to undergo training.

Meanwhile, Sultan of Pahang Sultan Ahmad Shah paid his last respect to Yazmi and Major Mohd Hasri Zahari at the hospital today night.

Earlier, the Regent of Pahang Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah and his consort Tengku Puan Pahang, Tunku Azizah Maimunah Iskandariah also visited the late pilot’s family members at HTAA.

Hasri, 31, and Yazmi, 39, were found dead at Chukai, Terengganu, with their parachutes intact by an RMAF search and rescue (SAR) team at 2.30pm today, after their fighter jet went missing off Chukai, Terengganu, at about 1pm.

Yazmi leaves behind his wife, Noor Shafora Izwa Mohd Hilmi and six children – Mikhail, Mukriz Anwar Riaz, 10, Muaz Addin Riaz, 7, Mika Adden Riaz and Mika Ayman Riaz, both four, and Musa Akhtar Riaz, three.

Hasri leaves behind wife and a seven-month-old daughter.

  • Advice For Jubah Sado Wearers/Wannabes

    Advice For Jubah Sado Wearers/Wannabes

You know about those jubah for abang-abang sado yang very body-hugging tu? Looking at the pictures of such jubah makes one wonder whether it is permissible in Islam for Muslim men to wear body-hugging and tight clothes which reveals the body outline. So, apparently, in Islam, both men and women are not allowed to put on such clothes (https://www.thoughtco.com/islamic-clothing-requirements-2004252).

So untuk abang-abang sado yang berniat nak beli jubah-jubah macam tu, lupakan je la ok.

Good Samaritans Help Malay Family Who Now Don’t Have To Be Homeless For Hari Raya

Thanks to Good Samaritans, the HDB default rent of $414 was completely paid since last night when we broke the appeal for funds so that a Malay family staying at Yishun rental flat won’t be evicted during Hari Raya.

Good job Singaporeans! And shame on you HDB!

Poor People’s Campaign – a ground-up community initiative to improve the living condition of the poor among us.

A Muslim couple may have to spend their Hari Raya homeless as HDB will evict them by 30th June if they can’t pay the rental default of $414 or 3 months’ rental.

The husband is a pest controller – he has two sons and a wife who looks after the kids.

His salary is only $1000 before CPF deduction.

There are other outstanding bills eg SP and S & C but the rental one seems more important as it means having a important roof over their head.

If you can help out with any amount, please pay it at any AXS machine with the account number taken from the post: 2810-0792-6-14

Don’t let them celebrate Hari Raya homeless!

  • Curi Sebab Nak Masak Rendang

    Curi Sebab Nak Masak Rendang

Dia berkata, dia mencuri kerana terdesak.

    ‘Saya nak buat rendang…’

“Memang masa buat tu saya tak fikir apa.

“Macam pakaian tu, saya teringin sangat nak rasa.

  • Heavy Rain Causes Ponding At Lift Landing, Concerned Makcik To The Rescue

Heavy Rain Causes Ponding At Lift Landing, Concerned Makcik To The Rescue

After heavy rain, my mother would often sweep the common areas in front of the lift of her HDB flat. (Due to poor upgrading work, we get ‘ponding’ in front of the lift after heavy rain.)

When I asked her why. She told me she is concern that neighbours in a hurry might fall and break their bones. She tells me she is worried especially about the elderly on our floor and a nurse-neighbour whom she noticed is always rushing to work. And she considered it no big deal to take care of the common areas.

So all these many years, she has been sweeping away the ‘ponding’. (I’ve seen her cleaned the lift when there’s pee too but that’s a story for another day).

Here’s my mother, caught in action, sweeping away the ponding, handbag swinging, at midnight after a late Hari Raya visit.
