    Commentary: Comfort Taxi Driver Went Above And Beyond, A Crybaby Moment For Me

    Today I was shown kindness by a Comfort taxi driver – Mr Yeo Choon Hwa.

    I had to report for my flight at 730am.
    I booked a taxi and when I got into the cab, I told the Uncle (yes we call any elderly male stranger Uncle in Singapore) to ‘please rush for me?’

    Which is highly unfair because now I am partly making it his responsibility to get me to work in time… but I was that desperate.

    Halfway through the journey – I started reaching out for my wallet so that I can quickly pay him and get out.

    As the search got more frantic, I realised the worst. I forgot my wallet. I couldn’t believe it. I was now 12 minutes away from the airport. There was NO WAY out. Turning back will mean a day of havoc for me.

    Resigning to my fate, I came clean with Uncle.
    I told him I forgot my wallet and I wouldn’t be able to pay him at the end of this journey.
    He looked up at me through the rear view and gave the most stunning reaction.

    He smiled. Kindly. And then asked me what I would like to do. What I would like to do!? This was his taxi, his rice bowl and he had every right to tell me to get out from his taxi or turn back – but yes – he asked me what I would like to do.

    So I told him, that if he is ok – I’ll take down his details and do a bank transfer when I touch down.
    And without skipping a beat, he agreed.

    I got to the airport just in time. Uncle even came out and helped me with my bags and just before I dashed off – he asked me if I had enough money for my travels and if I needed some.

    Yeah. Crybaby moment for me. Still is.
    Even after transferring the amount + bonus, I don’t think any amount can ever repay what he did.

    Apart from his compassion and kindness, he completely left it to his faith in humanity that I will not go back on my word.
    And I can’t help but think, what a lot of faith that must be.

    Hungarian Politician Says “Islam Is The Last Hope Of Humanity”

    The leader of Hungary’s Jobbik movement has said that “Islam is the last hope for humanity in the darkness of globalism and liberalism.”

    During the recent Hungarian parliamentary elections, the Jobbik movement earned 16.67% of the overall vote, securing 47 seats in the National Assembly. Subsequently, the President of Jobbika made a trip to Turkey where he visited various universities.

    “We’re not coming to Turkey to build diplomatic and economic relations, but to meet our Turkish brothers and sisters,” Gábor Vona, Jobbika’s president said.

    He also claimed that “the West does not tolerate seeing my party support Turkey and other Turanian peoples, such as Azerbaijanis, in international conflicts.”

    Gábor Vona also affirmed that his party had no relationship with the Islamophobic, far-right European parties, as some commentators have claimed. Jobbik’s president also stated that Turkish society, grounded in love of the family, respect for tradition and a strong sense of patriotism, was a great example for Hungary.

    According to Gábor Vona, the relationship between Hungary and Turkey is based on fraternity and not just friendship. The Jobbik party’s leader also emphasised, on many occasions, that “Islam is the last hope for humanity in the darkness of globalism and liberalism.”

    Also on the universal significance of Islam, Gábor Vona has stated on the official website of his party:

    “Africa has no power; Australia and South-America suffer from a perplexed identity due to their much-congested societies. Considering all this, there’s only one culture left which seeks to preserve its traditions: it is the Islamic world.”

    Furthermore, Vona said that his personal life was influenced by Islam and Muslims that he has met as friends and colleagues throughout his life. More surprisingly, one of the witnesses at his wedding was a Palestinian, something that infuriated his opponents.

    Israel PM Describes ‘Battle For Future Of Humanity’ During Singapore Visit

    In the first visit to Singapore by an Israeli head of state in 30 years, Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday issued a call for greater diversity and tolerance.

    Netanyahu gave a roughly 10-minute speech to Jewish community members gathered at the tightly guarded Maghain Aboth Synagogue, built in Singapore in the late 1800s.

    Netanyahu spoke of his recent visits to Muslim-majority countries Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, noting that he visited a synagogue in the latter.

    “Jewish children in Kazakhstan were singing Hebrew songs as they sang here, in a Muslim state and that reflects the kind of world we like to see: a world of tolerance, a world of diversity as opposed to the world that is being challenged today by the forces of barbarism and intolerance,” he said. “This is a battle for the future of humanity.”

    Netanyahu added that the relationship between Singapore and Israel had expanded beyond the defence ties which were set in the mid-1960s, when Singapore became independent of Malaysia.

    “It’s not only that we’re both innovation nations. It’s not only that we’re small people that have defied the limitations of our size. It is that we’re committed to a better world. A world of diversity, a world that follows the values that we as a people have held for so many years,” he said.

    Netanyahu said he had held talks with Singapore’s government earlier in the day and that the talks would continue later. His speech at the synagogue coincided with the reading of Singapore’s budget in Parliament.

    Netanyahu’s visit to Singapore comes hard on the heels of the Israeli prime minister’s meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in the U.S. last week, but that visit went unmentioned.

    Netanyahu’s visit to Singapore on Monday was quieter than the last visit of an Israeli head of state to the island-nation.

    In 1986, Israel’s then-President Chaim Herzog became the first Israeli head of state to visit Singapore. But when the Israeli embassy in Singapore announced the visit about a month ahead of time, protests erupted across Muslim-majority countries Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei, and Singapore faced diplomatic ire and pressure to cancel the visit.

    Indian Foreign Worker Devastated By Death Of Wife During Childbirth Wandered Around Bukit Timah Aimlessly In Early Morning

    My first passenger today brought me to tears and I had to hold it back till I dropped him off.

    At 5.46am, I got a booking from Bt Timah Road. It didn’t state what number, just the road name. I called him, he said he didn’t know what number or where he was. He just said he was sitting at a bus stop at Bt Timah Road.
    Bt Timah Road is so long. I asked him to describe what he saw nearby. He said cars, trees, at a bus stop. I asked him to look for the bus stop number, I got silence and muffling sounds.
    Sensing something very wrong,
    I said…just sit there and wait for me. I will find you!

    From where I was, I thought…if the booking came to me. He must be at the few bus stops nearest to me, but Bt Timah Road was left and right. So I tried the right side first.

    There he was… a lone Indian foreign worker sitting at the bus stop, looking around aimlessly.

    I stopped my car, asked him if he had booked a car. He nodded. He opened the front door and asked if he could sit in front politely as he will vomit if he sit behind(his words).
    He got in, I offered him a plastic bag and a sweet which he politely declined.

    I confirmed his dropoff address, he nodded. He was upset. So I drove on, leaving him to calm down.

    Halfway through, I asked him if he was okay. He nodded.

    So I asked why he was at that bus stop (very quiet corner) so early that morning. He said he walked there.
    I said from where.
    He said from home.

    Apparently home was where I was sending him now….very far from where he was.

    So I casually mentioned…. wow that’s a very long walk.

    So the talk continues…

    Me: So where are you from?
    He: India.
    Me: U ok?
    Silence.
    Me: U work here?
    He: Ya.
    Me: How long?
    He: 6 months now.

    I then offered him some tissues and he took to wipe his tears…

    Me: It’s ok. You can talk.
    Silence then…..then he spoke.
    (After this, I was quiet for a long time while he spoke)
    His next words:
    my wife die after born my baby girl.

    In that little bit of English that he could speak….
    He went on to say he and his wife were orphans at an orphanage and grew up together and fell in love.
    They had to “betroth”(his word “sell”) their baby girl to a family in their village so they had money to pay for doctor visits for her pregnancy. The baby was supposed to be turned over to the family at age 12.
    His wife died during childbirth and the family had claimed the baby girl after the hospital turned her over to them.

    This man sitting next to me now will never have the chance to see his baby girl or even put his wife to rest.

    After I dropped him off, I declined to take his fare and even wanted to give him money for an airfare home.
    He simply refused to take it and said no use go home.

    He just said “Thank you for hear me” and left.
    He probably needed to be alone now.

    4 hours later when I finished my driving…. as I was clearing my things, I found 2 $10 notes in a slot on the passenger door. He had stuck them there after I refused to take his fare.

    I tried calling him on the same number…. it has been off the last many hours.

    My dear friends, give your kids and partner a good cuddle and many kisses today please!

    *Update* 21/11/116

    I managed to call through the phone this morning. It was picked up by another Indian man who said the phone is actually his and the man (his friend) had left this morning for home.
    I asked how?
    He said “Boss give money send”.

    He told me also….no call here again.

    I hope he will be blessed and find peace within himself soon.

    I didn’t expect this post to go viral but thank you to everyone who shared to let people know what some of our foreign workers face.
