    Singapore Refutes Claims That It Blocked Cloud-Seeding Operations In Johor

    The Consulate-General of Singapore in Johor Baru has refuted claims that the Republic had refused to allow cloud seeding over two dams in the southern Malaysia state which are experiencing critical water levels.

    Malaysian media reports on Thursday cited Johor state public works, rural and regional development chairman Hasni Mohammad as saying that Singapore had refused to allow cloud-seeding operations at Sungai Lebam dam in Kota Tinggi and the Layang dam in Pasir Gudang as the activities would purportedly encroach into Singapore’s territory.

    He added that Johor would have to find other alternatives to top up the dams’ water levels following Singapore’s alleged refusal. Both dams supply water to some 760,000 people.

    In a statement issued on Friday evening (July 24), the Consulate-General said that Singapore has not been approached recently on cloud-seeding operations.

    “Singapore fully supports cloud-seeding efforts in Johor, especially during this dry spell.

    “We are surprised by Johor State Exco member Datuk Ir. Haji Hasni bin Haji Mohammad’s claims,” said the Consulate-General in its statement.

    “Such claims, including his assertion that this is because such activities are deemed to encroach into Singapore’s territory, are baseless.”

    The Consulate-General added that the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore has always coordinated closely with Malaysia’s Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) to facilitate various flight activities.

    “Both sides have also been working together on projects such as the Johor River Barrage to increase water resources in Johor.

    “Singapore has not been approached recently on cloud-seeding operations, whether by DCA or any other Malaysian agencies. If Datuk Hasni has information indicating otherwise, he should share it with Singapore so that we can look into the matter.”

    Dear family and friends, i was robbed earlier today in JB around Lorong Bapok, my car window screen was smashed and i have lost everything, thankfully Ive not lost my life. Alhamdulilah. Well… to cut things short. The culprit who robbed me earlier had used up all the money in my bank even b4 i call the bank to block the card. Now i am left with $0. Nothing. Not even a single cents with me. And the culprit had even swipe my Crdit card amounting to 800 bucks in a bar name Elite in Grand Paragon Johor Bahru. Also, my card was used to pump petrol at Shell at the following address.

    Stesyen Minyak Shell, Lot Ptd 71041, Jalan Serampang, Taman Pelangi, Johor Bahru, 80400, Johor Bahru, Johor, 80050, Malaysia

    Amounting up to rm200. I had make a police report in Perling but they told me it is out of their area and they need to refer my case to the Central station. Its already more than 12hrs and i have not receive any news. Even with all the details i have provided.

    Anyone here who knows of anyone who can get me a cctv record at the said petrol kiosk on the culprit photo and vechicle plate number. It is at 0133hrs on 24 July 2015.

    Also anyone from Grand Paragon Johor Bahru at a bar named Elite at 0217hrs.

    Please help me to share this post and i hope to get some information and leads to the culprit. I thank all of u in advance for the help rendered.

    May Allah bless all of u. Please keep me in your prayers as i am left with nothing. I am not contactable now, i dont remember anyone number and i have to result in borrowing someone phone to use FB platform to reach out to my family and friends.

    Singaporeans Escape From Burning Five Stars Express Coach Bound For Singapore

    SINGAPORE: A Five Stars Express coach travelling from Ipoh to Singapore caught fire along Malaysia’s North-South Highway early Sunday (Jul 12) morning.

    According to a spokesperson from Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, no one was injured, and the passengers managed to continue their journey to Singapore.

    “We have not been approached for assistance by any Singaporeans in this case,” the spokesperson added.

    Michelle Lim, a passenger on the bus, which was travelling from Ipoh’s Jalan Bendahara to Golden Mile Complex in Singapore, told Channel NewsAsia she smelled burning odour about three-and-a-half hours into the journey at 1.30am. She said there were about 20 passengers travelling on the coach.

    The fire happened along the highway after Jasin, Melaka and near Tangkak, Johor, said The One Travel & Tours Bus Service, the agency operating the bus route.

    “At around 2am, the bus driver sensed something was wrong and pulled up along the round shoulder,” Ms Lim said. “The driver ordered passengers to disembark from the bus after thin smoke was seen inside the bus. The passengers disembarked in an orderly fashion and the bus driver’s assistant helped retrieve belongings from inside the bus as well as from the luggage hold.”

    She added: “After we got out, the bus caught fire and was engulfed in thick smoke – and both the driver and his assistant were pouring buckets of water to put out the blaze.”

    Although most passengers retrieved most of their belongings and luggage, some left their passports behind in the coach, according to Ms Lim.

    At 2.30am, another coach, operated by TransStar, arrived on the scene to pick up Ms Lim, her husband and two other passengers. The rest of the passengers remained at the site waiting for other buses to pick them up.

    Assalamualaikum w.b.t

    I am aware that this is the official website of Johor football, not a political nor religious website. However I wish to take this opportunity to educate and inform the rakyat of Johor and every Malaysian.

    Recently I noticed several negative and misinformed comments from some individuals about pictures of my boat which was uploaded by JOHOR Southern Tigers.

    There have always been several quarters who questioned the issue of the rakyat’s money. I therefore wish to use this space to give the correct and concise information which can be treated as useful knowledge in understanding the Johor royalty.

    Johor was established in 1885 with its own government and constitution even before the formation of the Federal Government in 1957. In addition, the Johor Military Forces was established in 1886.

    With regards to the rakyat’s monies which is questioned by these misinformed individuals, I am making this statement today so that Johoreans may read and understand so that they can inform future generations.

    For everyone’s information, the Johor royalty had once breached the state constitution in 1899 when DYMM Almarhum Sultan Ibrahim ibni Almarhum Sultan Abu Bakar had rejected his salary as Sultan which was allocated by the Johor state government at that time. The funds were thus channelled to a trust fund now known as Yayasan Iskandar, whereby Almarhum then decreed:

     

    As Ruler of this state, I should not take my rakyat’s monies

    Therefore the objective of that trust is for the state government to assist the Johor rakyat where needed.

    Till today, Yayasan Iskandar is used for funding education, Haj pilgrimages, upgrading facilities at religious schools etc.

    All proceeds and income of the Johor royalty is derived from rubber and oil palm estates since the time of DYMM Almarhum Sultan Ibrahim till today, which is now managed by MADOS.

    I don’t need to disclose how much zakat that has been paid by DYMM Tuanku and myself every year. I am raising this issue since there are some people who are ignorant, disillusioned and incapable of accepting the truth.

    All allowances allocated to me by the Johor government since I was appointed as the Raja Muda till today has been channelled to Yayasan Iskandar and whatever I have now are gifts from my own father.

    This information is mainly for giving a brief summary of the history of Johor royalty.

    Once again, to those misinformed individuals, before making any sweeping statements, please do your research and get your facts correct first rather than embarrass yourselves later.

    I am not worried as I have never taken anyone’s money.

    Malaysia’s Transport Agency Says CEO Misquoted On High-Speed Rail

    The Malaysian transport agency said that it was misquoted in media reports that it wanted the proposed high-speed railway to end in Johor Baru rather than in Jurong East in Singapore.

    Instead, it actually prefers to have the Singapore-Kuala Lumpur line end in Singapore’s central business district, said Malaysia’s Land Public Transport Commision (SPAD) chief executive Mohamad Nur Ismal Kamal in a press release late last night.

    Earlier on Friday, Singapore’s Transport Ministry had issued a strongly worded statement to say that it was surprised that the SPAD had stated in media reports that it wanted the HSR to end in Johor rather than in Singapore.

    Mr Mohamad Nur had said in a The Edge Malaysia on Monday that “we would prefer to terminate the line at the existing CIQ (customs, immigration and quarantine) complex. However, Singapore wants it to terminate in Jurong East and understandably so.”

    The MOT said that terminating the HSR in Johor would undermine the objectives of the link.

    “Our understanding is that Malaysia views the commercial premise of the KL-Singapore HSR project, and with which we agree, as being based on a direct connection between the two city centres.

    “Terminating the HSR in Johor Baru will not achieve this objective,” it said.

    In a statement released in response to media queries, MOT reiterated that last year, Malaysia had chosen its terminus to be in Bandar Malaysia.

    But late on Friday, the SPAD chief said that he was “regrettably misquoted” in the report.

    “We would have preferred to terminate the line at the CBD area. This will be closer to Orchard Road than Jurong East. However this is a joint project for the benefit of both countries and hence there has to be give and take,” he said.

    Last month, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his Malaysian counterpart Najib Razak announced that Singapore’s terminus would be in Jurong East after their annual retreat.

    MOT said both countries are also in discussions over the HSR’s commercial and operating models.

    Singapore has proposed that the domestic transit HSR service, which will stop at the six stations in between Singapore and KL, be operated separately from the express non-stop HSR services between KL and Singapore, MOT said. This will give Malaysia autonomy over the domestic transit services to serve its domestic needs, it added.
