London Islamophobe Terrorist Was Born In Singapore

A 47-year-old man arrested for allegedly ploughing a van into a group of Muslims in London on Monday (June 19) was born in Singapore, according to British media reports.

Citing public records, the Guardian and Daily Mirror reported that Darren Osborne was born in Singapore in 1969. They gave no further details on his Singapore connection, or when he moved back to Britain.

Osborne is believed to have grown up in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, where he attended Broadoak Mathematics and Computing College.

At the time of the attack, he was living in the Welsh city of Cardiff with his partner and four children aged between five and 16.

Nine people were hospitalised after Monday’s attack. Witnesses said they saw Osborne shouting, “I want to kill all Muslims”, before slamming his van into a crowd near a mosque in the Finsbury Park area of London.

One elderly man, who had collapsed moments before the van appeared, was pronounced dead at the scene, although police have not yet confirmed whether he died as a result of the attack.

Locals held onto Osborne until he was detained by police and later arrested on charges of “the commission, preparation or instigation of terrorism including murder and attempted murder”.

His neighbours in Cardiff described him as “aggressive” and “strange”, The Guardian reported. They said it was unclear if he had a job, with some saying that he was unemployed while others said he bought and sold cars.

Neighbour Pauline Tibbs, 48, told the Mail Online that the incident had been a “terrible shock”.

“The police have been back and forth here all day. It’s a terrible shock,” she said. “I’ve seen him walking in the street but never spoken to him. He seemed normal enough. He has lived here a couple of years and kept himself to himself.”

Osborne’s next-door neighbor, Mr Khadijeh Sherizi, told The Telegraph: “I saw him on the news and I thought ‘Oh my God that is my neighbour.”

“He has been so normal. He was in his kitchen yesterday afternoon singing with his kids.

“He was the dad of the family. He has kids. He lives next door. He seemed polite and pleasant to me. I just can’t believDe it.”

Osborne’s family members revealed a different side of him.

Mrs Osborne, 72, told ITV News that her son was a “complex” person.

  • Attack On London Mosque: Terrorist Would’ve Have Died From Beating If Not For Imam’s Intervention

Attack On London Mosque: Terrorist Would’ve Have Died From Beating If Not For Imam’s Intervention

As angry bystanders held down the alleged driver of a van that ploughed into a group of Muslims near a mosque in London just after midnight yesterday, an imam helped calm the situation.

Imam Mohammed Mahmoud shouted: “Don’t touch him! No one touch him!”, reported The Telegraph.

“(The van driver) tried to run away but we brought him down. He would’ve died because so many people were punching him, but the imam came out and said ‘No more punching, let’s keep him down until the police come’,” one witness told the Independent.

A statement on the website of the Muslim Welfare House said: “I would like to particularly thank our imam, Mohammed Mahmoud, whose bravery and courage helped calm the immediate situation after the incident and prevented further injuries and potential loss of life.”

  • Group of 130 Imams Condemn London Bridge Attacks, Refuse To Perform Funeral Rites

Group of 130 Imams Condemn London Bridge Attacks, Refuse To Perform Funeral Rites

A group of 130 imams and religious leaders have refused to perform the traditional Islamic funeral prayer for the London Bridge attackers.

The leaders said they would not carry out the ritual that is normally performed for every Muslim, regardless of their actions.

In a statement on social media, the group said: “Consequently, and in light of other such ethical principles which are quintessential to Islam, we will not perform the traditional Islamic funeral prayer over the perpetrators and we also urge fellow imams and religious authorities to withdraw such a privilege.

The statement added: “This is because such indefensible actions are completely at odds with the lofty teachings of Islam.”

Religious leaders of all backgrounds have condemned the attack which killed seven and injured 47 on Saturday evening when three men rammed a rental van into pedestrians then randomly stabbed revellers in bars and restaurants near Borough Market.

A panel of speakers at the East London Mosque said they would work to combat extremists’ “twisted narrative and their perversion” of religion.

  • Pint-Clutching Man Becomes Symbol Of London’s Defiance Against Terrorism

Pint-Clutching Man Becomes Symbol Of London’s Defiance Against Terrorism

A man pictured calmly taking his pint of beer with him as other people fled past him during Saturday’s (Jun 3) deadly attack in London has been cast as an unlikely hero who encapsulates British humour and defiance.

Dressed in a red t-shirt and sauntering casually with a friend, the drinker stood out in Sky News footage of men and women running down Borough High Street, away from the London Bridge scene of the attack that left seven people dead and 48 injured.

The image spread like wildfire across Twitter and British newspapers said the man, whose identity is unknown, was a symbol of defiance.

“True symbol of the British spirit as man flees terrorist attack clutching his pint,” said student Henry Slesser (@HenrySlesser), on Twitter.

Others joked that it was only right that he should take his beer with him, given London’s notoriously high prices.

“Evacuate? Well, OK. But this beer cost six pounds (US$7.74) a pint. I’m taking it with me,” said another Twitter user, Andrew Brooks (@taxbod).

Londoners take pride in, and sometimes joke about, showing fortitude during adversity.

Tourist shops are awash with memorabilia emblazoned with “Keep calm and carry on”, a slogan drawn from a World War II poster that became popular in the last 10 years.

Saturday’s attack, in which three men drove a van into pedestrians on London Bridge before stabbing people in nearby bars and restaurants, occurred five days before a parliamentary election.

British Prime Minister Theresa May said the vote would go ahead as planned on Thursday.

Residents of the northern English city Manchester also looked to their city’s culture for solace after a suicide bombing at a pop concert killed 22 people and injured 116 nearly two weeks ago, Britain’s deadliest attack in almost 12 years.

  • Prominent Muslim Scholars Assembling To Discuss Rising Levels Of Islamophobia In Britain

Prominent Muslim Scholars Assembling To Discuss Rising Levels Of Islamophobia In Britain

An event due to be held in London and Yorkshire in England has been billed as the event of the year.

There has been a rise in Islamophobia, Islamic principles and practices are under the spotlight, and Muslims are being subjected to verbal and physical abuse.

On top of that, Muslims are constantly being asked to prove their loyalty. This has made them feel foreign in their own countries. As Muslims come under pressure to maintain their creed in this difficult time, some are close to losing their faith.

In response, the ‘Losing My Religion’ conference has been organised to discuss some of the challenges faced by Muslims in Britain.

Prominent international speakers will be sharing knowledge and guidance from the Qur’an, Hadith and the Seerah to help Muslims preserve their faith during these testing times.

Speakers include: Imam Omar Suleiman, Shaykh Yasir Qadhi, Dr Tariq Ramadan, Shenaz Bunglawala, Shaykh Abu Esa Niamatullah, Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan, Maryam Amir and others.

The conference will take place on Saturday 22nd April in Yorkshire and Sunday 23rd April at the Excel.
