Johor’s Crown Prince Explains Source Of Wealth

Assalamualaikum w.b.t

I am aware that this is the official website of Johor football, not a political nor religious website. However I wish to take this opportunity to educate and inform the rakyat of Johor and every Malaysian.

Recently I noticed several negative and misinformed comments from some individuals about pictures of my boat which was uploaded by JOHOR Southern Tigers.

There have always been several quarters who questioned the issue of the rakyat’s money. I therefore wish to use this space to give the correct and concise information which can be treated as useful knowledge in understanding the Johor royalty.

Johor was established in 1885 with its own government and constitution even before the formation of the Federal Government in 1957. In addition, the Johor Military Forces was established in 1886.

With regards to the rakyat’s monies which is questioned by these misinformed individuals, I am making this statement today so that Johoreans may read and understand so that they can inform future generations.

For everyone’s information, the Johor royalty had once breached the state constitution in 1899 when DYMM Almarhum Sultan Ibrahim ibni Almarhum Sultan Abu Bakar had rejected his salary as Sultan which was allocated by the Johor state government at that time. The funds were thus channelled to a trust fund now known as Yayasan Iskandar, whereby Almarhum then decreed:

As Ruler of this state, I should not take my rakyat’s monies

Therefore the objective of that trust is for the state government to assist the Johor rakyat where needed.

Till today, Yayasan Iskandar is used for funding education, Haj pilgrimages, upgrading facilities at religious schools etc.

All proceeds and income of the Johor royalty is derived from rubber and oil palm estates since the time of DYMM Almarhum Sultan Ibrahim till today, which is now managed by MADOS.

I don’t need to disclose how much zakat that has been paid by DYMM Tuanku and myself every year. I am raising this issue since there are some people who are ignorant, disillusioned and incapable of accepting the truth.

All allowances allocated to me by the Johor government since I was appointed as the Raja Muda till today has been channelled to Yayasan Iskandar and whatever I have now are gifts from my own father.

This information is mainly for giving a brief summary of the history of Johor royalty.

Once again, to those misinformed individuals, before making any sweeping statements, please do your research and get your facts correct first rather than embarrass yourselves later.

I am not worried as I have never taken anyone’s money.

8 Indonesians Confess To Hijacking Malaysian-Registered Tanker Orkim Harmony

PETALING JAYA (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) – The eight suspects in the hijacking of Malaysian oil tanker MT Okim Harmony have confessed to the crime.

Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency deputy director-general (operations) Maritime Vice-Admiral Ahmad Puzi Ab Kahar confirmed that the suspects, who are all Indonesian nationals, had made the confession to the Vietnamese authorities.

Datuk Ahmad Puzi added that they were closely monitoring the situation, but declined to comment further.

The eight were arrested in Vietnamese waters near Tho Chu Island after they reportedly fled the MT Orkim Harmony in a rescue boat at 8.30pm on Thursday.

Before that, they had directed the Navy to move its ships about five nautical miles (9km) from the MT Orkim Harmony, threatening to harm the crew.

The vanishing act was only found out at about 1am on Friday when the captain of the seized oil tanker contacted the KD Terengganu.

The ship’s captain did not inform the navy immediately of their escape as the pirates threatened to harm his family if he did so.

The tanker – owned by Magna Meridian Sdn Bhd and carrying 6,000 tonnes of petrol worth RM21 million (S$7.5 million) belonging to Petronas – had been reported missing since June 11 while on its way from Malacca to Kuantan Port, Pahang.

The vessel that was reported to be adrift in Cambodian waters then suddenly changed course to the east towards Natuna Island, Indonesia.

It had also been repainted and renamed ‘Kim Harmon’ by the pirates.

The oil tanker with 21 crew members arrived at Kuantan Port on Saturday morning.

One of its crew members, an Indonesian cook, was flown by helicopter to Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital on Friday for treatment after he was shot in the thigh.

Malaysia Arrests Foreign ISIS Operative In KL

KUALA LUMPUR (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) – A 31-year-old north African man was detained after operating for the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terror group in Malaysia for about a year.

The man, who entered the country using a forged student visa in March last year, obtained the visa from a syndicate operating in the Klang Valley.

Sources revealed that the suspect purchased the forged visa for RM5,500 (S$1,960).

“This is a new modus operandi for ISIS members. Instead of heading back to their home countries, these fighters are going to a third country like Malaysia for multiple reasons,” a source told The Star yesterday.

Among the reasons were to set up a base of operations, become the link man for other operatives and to recruit more members.

“The authorities discovered that the suspect had rented an apartment in Gombak.

“He was enrolled to study at a public university but failed to attend classes. Instead, he worked multiple jobs, including as a cook and a masseur,” a source said.

The suspect is also a casanova, having romanced single mothers in a bid to obtain a spousal visa.

“At least two single mothers have been seduced by him,” a source said.

The man, who was picked up by the Bukit Aman Special Branch Counter Terrorism Division on June 9 here, is also on the Wanted List of a northern African security force.

Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar said the suspect was previously detained in his home country for being involved in terror activities in 2007.

“He was detained for two years. Then in 2013, the man went to Syria to join the ISIS,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Tan Sri Khalid added that the man had managed to gain entry into Malaysia by using a forged student visa in March last year.

“We believe he may have obtained the fake documents via a syndicate operating in the Klang Valley.

“The student visa seems ‘complete’ with the name of the public university on the document.

“We will investigate further to uncover the syndicate behind the forged documents.

“Such documents in the hands of terrorists is simply dangerous for the country,” he said.

He added that the suspect had been deported to his home country on Wednesday.

Zaid Ibrahim: Under Najib, Malays Will Become Like Talibans

KUALA LUMPUR, June 21 — If Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak remains in office, the Malays here will become like those living under the repressive rule of the Taliban and not like Singapore’s Malays, former Umno minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim said.

Zaid, who was disagreeing with Dr Mahathir’s claim that Najib’s leadership would force the Malays here to become as marginalised as Singapore’s Malays, told the former prime minister that if his assertion were true, he would gladly support Najib.

“Sorry Tun if under Najib Malays here will become like Spore Malays; I will give him full support. Malays under Najjb will be Talibans,” the former minister wrote on Twitter today.

“Malays under Najib and Hadi will abandon their culture, traditions and values. Tun M must read my new book Assalamualaikum out in Sept,” he said in another post on the microblogging site.

In a video of a Wednesday forum released online today by blogger Din Turtle, Dr Mahathir was recorded saying that if Najib stays in power, the Malays here could become marginalised like their Singaporean brethren.

The former prime minister also remind his audience that the struggle for the country is not for the personal goals of one man but for the survival of the nation, its race and its religion.

“I think we are smart people. Do we want to protect Najib? Or do we want to protect the Malays and the country?

“This is what we have to ask ourselves,” he said in his speech during the forum with several non-governmental organisations (NGOs) at the Perdana Foundation.

Dr Mahathir has been at the forefront of attacks against the Najib administration and has been actively campaigning for the prime minister’s resignation, believing the latter will lead BN to doom in the next federal polls.

Among others, Dr Mahathir has attacked Najib over his handling of the controversy surrounding 1MDB, the troubled state-owned firm that has racked up a debt of RM42 billion since its inception in 2009.

Najib, however, has refused to step down and has responded to Dr Mahathir’s accusations — several times via his blog and once through a pre-recorded interview on TV3.

Japan Offers $4.7 Million To Help Rohingya Refugees

TOKYO (AFP) – Japan on Saturday offered US$3.5 million (S$4.7 million) to help the Rohingya boat people who have fled Myanmar where they faced severe discrimination.

Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida said Japan remained committed to helping national reconciliation efforts on various fronts in Asia, including between Myanmar’s government and “ethnic minority groups”.

“With regard to non-regular immigrants, including women and children trying to cross the Indian Ocean, Japan has decided to extend US$3.5 million” through global agencies such as the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, he said in a public address.

The money will go to providing food and shelter as well as to fund data analysis of their maritime movements, the foreign ministry said.
