Man Rapes Single Mother At Party He Attended With His Wife And Kids

They met for the first time at a New Year’s Eve party at the D’Kranji Farm Resort in Lim Chu Kang on Dec 31, 2014.

The single mother, then 30, who has a four-year-old son, had been invited to the celebration by her cousin.

Muhammad Farhan Mohamed Buan, then 28 and working as a mover, was also at the party with his wife and children.

But that did not stop the father of three from preying on the woman and sexually assaulting her. During the attack, she feared for her life, but her desperate struggles and pleas for him to spare her fell on deaf ears.

Yesterday, Judicial Commissioner Hoo Sheau Peng sentenced Muhammad Farhan to nine years’ jail and six strokes of the cane for raping the woman.

He also sentenced Muhammad Farhan to two months’ jail for insulting her modesty, with the two sentences to run concurrently.

At about 5.45am on New Year’s Day, Muhammad Farhan approached the woman as she was resting at a pavilion outside a chalet.

They started chatting, and she asked him for a few puffs of his cigarette.

Muhammad Farhan agreed, then asked her for sex in exchange for the favour. She declined, and told him to return to his wife and children.

But that did not discourage him. Instead, he told her that his wife was asleep and continued to stay with her at the pavilion.

    NO MONEY

The woman later told him that she was tired and wanted to take a taxi home, but she had no money.

When she asked Muhammad Farhan if he could help her, he forcibly kissed her, then pulled down his pants and exposed himself.

Feeling insulted, the woman scolded him and tried to leave after he offered her $10 for the taxi ride.

He told her that it was not safe to walk alone outside the resort at that time, and offered to accompany her. She accepted his offer.

At about 6am, they set off near a forested area towards the junction of Neo Tiew Road and Neo Tiew Lane 2.

Muhammad Farhan then handed her the $10 before telling her that he had heard voices coming from a nearby bush and suggested that they check it out.

Sensing something was amiss, the woman asked if he was crazy, and tried to walk back to the resort.

But he grabbed her and wrapped his hands around her body before lifting her up and carrying her into the forested area.

While carrying her, he jumped across a large drain. He then threw her onto a grass patch.

The woman struggled and kicked him repeatedly, but she did not have the strength to fight him off.

Terrified that she was about to be raped, she tried to scare him off by lying that she had Aids.

    But Muhammad Farhan was undeterred.

He pulled off her pants and underwear, and raped her just as she was attempting to get up from the ground.

While she was being violated, she kept pleading for him not to harm her as she had a son to look after.

After the rape, Muhammad Farhan gave her another $15, and told her not to tell anyone about the rape before walking away.

Still fearing for her life, the woman accepted the money, put on her clothes and walked back to the road.

She then hailed a passing taxi, and the driver called the police with his mobile phone after she told him that she had been raped.

As they were waiting in the taxi, they saw Muhammad Farhan walking towards the resort and followed him slowly in the taxi.

When Muhammad Farhan returned to the resort, his wife questioned him about his dishevelled state. In tears, he confessed that he had just done something wrong.

The victim left the $25 in the taxi.

Muhammad Farhan was arrested shortly after at the chalet, and has been in remand since Nov 25 last year.

For rape, he could have been jailed for up to 20 years, with caning and a fine.

1 Muhammad Farhan Mohamed Buan approaches the woman at a pavilion and they share a cigarette. He asks her for sex but is rejected. When she says she needs money for her taxi ride home, he forcibly kisses her and exposes himself to her.

2 He accompanies the woman to hail for a taxi at the junction of Neo Tiew Road and Neo Tiew Lane 2. He says there are voices coming from a nearby bush and suggests that they check it out. When she refuses, he grabs her and carries her towards a forested area.

3 Britons Face Charges Of Raping A Singaporean Woman

Three Britons accused of gang raping a woman in Singapore while visiting the city-state for a music festival face up to 20 years in jail and caning, court documents showed Thursday.

Khong Tam Thanh, 21, Le Michael, 23, and Vu Thai Son, 23, face one count each of raping a 23-year-old local woman in a hotel in the early hours of September 10.

According to charges seen by AFP, the three men allegedly took turns in raping the woman between 4:00am and 5:50am in a hotel room near the upmarket Orchard Road shopping belt.

They appeared via video-link from Changi Prison on Thursday and were offered bail of Sg$50,000 ($36,400)each. All were represented by lawyers in court.

Khong’s lawyer Shashi Nathan told AFP that his client, a London-based businessman in the beauty industry, was in town for Ultra Singapore, an electronic music festival.

The men were charged with the offences on September 12 and have been held for investigations and a psychiatric review.

Nathan said Khong had a bailor and was expecting to be released later Thursday after proceedings are completed.

Le and Vu’s lawyers said in court that their clients had trouble raising funds, asking that bail be lowered. The request was turned down.

Rape is punishable by up to 20 years in jail and caning, a punishment which dates back to British colonial rule in Singapore.

The men will next appear before the court on November 22.

  • Man Jailed 20 Years For Raping 12 Year Old Niece

Man Jailed 20 Years For Raping 12 Year Old Niece

After he raped his teenage niece, she was so traumatised that she tried to kill herself by drinking bleach solution and soap powder.

Even after she fell ill and vomited, his main concern was to conceal his heinous acts by telling his wife not to take the niece to hospital in case it led to a police report.

So the wife took the girl to a private clinic and hid the fact that she had swallowed bleach from the doctor.

She later gave her $50 to keep her quiet.

On Monday (Oct 26), the 54-year-old uncle was jailed for 20 years for raping, molesting and sexually assaulting his young niece.

The food stall operator, who cannot be named due to a gag order to protect the girl’s identity, had sexually abused her seven times over two years, starting in 2010 when she was just 12 years old.

  • Woman Marries Man Who Raped Her Best Friend

Woman Marries Man Who Raped Her Best Friend

A woman went on with her marriage, even after being told that her husband had raped her best friend.

Royal Army Medical Corps officer Daniel Howard, 29, was jailed last week for seven years for the attack which happened in February last year, reported the Mirror.

He was accused of raping his then fiancee’s best friend, who was sleeping in the spare bedroom of his Darlington house.

The prosecutor told the jury the victim was fully clothed in bed  when Howard entered the room and forced himself upon her.

During the attack, he warned the victim not to tell his fiancee and when it was over, asked: “Have you had a good time?”

After his arrest, Howard denied going into the guest room and having sex with the woman.

The soldier claimed that the alleged victim had his semen inside her because she had used one of his sex toys.

His new wife, April, had refused to believe he had carried out the assault and went ahead with her wedding just three weeks before his trial.

However, he was convicted after a four-day trial in which he was accused of inventing a “ludicrous, cold-blooded and insulting” defence.

The judge told Howard:”What you did was calculated. You relied on the victim keeping what you had done a secret burden to herself.”

“You sought to degrade and humiliate her by concocting a wholly false and unwarranted allegation.”

The victim, 26, has been diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder.

She has since changed jobs and lives with the fear of being left alone, having anxiety attacks and taking pills to sleep.

“I was meant to be the bridesmaid at her wedding. We were meant to have children at similar times and raise them together,” she said in her statement.

“He loves April and April loves him so why this happened I will never know.”

  • Former Lifeguard Accused Of Raping Relief Teacher

Former Lifeguard Accused Of Raping Relief Teacher

She was so afraid of her alleged rapist that she feared being in the same courtroom as him.

Applying for the alleged rape victim to give her testimony via videolink, Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Kavita Uthrapathy told the court yesterday that the woman might break down and cry if she had to be in the same room as Pram Nair, 26.

On the first day of the trial in which he is accused of one count each of rape and sexually penetrating the woman, the court heard that Nair, then a lifeguard at Sentosa, allegedly committed the offences at Siloso Beach, near the Wavehouse, a beach bar and restaurant, at around 2.25am on May 6, 2012.

Justice Woo Bih Li turned down the prosecution’s application.

This means that instead of giving her testimony via a live video link from another location, the woman, now 23, has to be physically present in the courtroom.

However, Justice Woo said that if needed, the prosecution may reapply for her to testify via videolink in the future.

In the opening address, DPP Bhajanvir Singh said the woman was a 20-year-old relief teacher when Nair allegedly raped her.

The woman and a friend had attended a beach party at the Wavehouse on May 5, 2012.

    PARTY

DPP Singh said: “It was at the party that the victim and her friend were introduced to the accused by (a man known as) Jim for the first time.

“The court will hear that, at the party, the victim drank several different types of alcoholic beverages and quickly became intoxicated.”

He added that Nair left the Wavehouse with the woman and took her to the beach.

Nair, who is represented by lawyer Peter Ong, then allegedly raped and sexually penetrated her.

Two men, Kason Tan Jia Rong and Terence Chung De Wei, were passing by when they saw the alleged offences taking place.

DPP Singh said: “Kason saw that the victim was trying to push the accused away in a weak manner and thereafter called the 999 police hotline.”

The police soon arrived at the scene and the woman was found to be motionless and foaming at the mouth, the court heard.

She was rushed to the Singapore General Hospital.

Based on information from her friend, police officers spotted Nair nearby and arrested him.

The woman gave her testimony in camera yesterday. This means the public and the press were not allowed to observe the proceedings.

    The trial resumes today.

If convicted of rape, Nair can be jailed up to 20 years and fined or caned.
