  • If Not Ready To Be Inclusive, Please Don’t Use Iftar In Description Of A Non-Halal Potluck

If Not Ready To Be Inclusive, Please Don’t Use Iftar In Description Of A Non-Halal Potluck

Someone shared a flyer about “Potluck Iftar Dinner @ Block 101” organised by Choa Chu Kang Zone 3 Committee. To what seem to be a joke or surprise to some, the flyer added a note saying all residents are welcomed. Those who are interested in attending the dinner are expecting to bring at least one signature dish (halal/non-halal per family). The person who shared then suggested that any non-muslim organiser should avoid using Islamic terms like Iftar or Ramadan, ie. Bazar Ramadan, if they are not ready to be inclusive.

Don’t believe? See it for yourself below.

May I suggest any non-muslim organiser to avoid using Islamic terms like Iftar or Ramadan, ie. Bazar Ramadan, if you are not ready to be inclusive. This is to avoid unnecessary confusion. I would also like to suggest our muslim MPs to remind your colleagues to be more sensitive when using these terms. And RC members, please get the approval from your Muslim advisors or MPs before you disseminate such invitations. Thank you for your understanding.

  • 1kg Of Heroin Seized From Singaporean Drug Trafficker In Teck Whye

1kg Of Heroin Seized From Singaporean Drug Trafficker In Teck Whye

A 50-year-old Singaporean man was caught with nearly 1kg of heroin in Teck Whye early on Tuesday morning (April 11), the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) said in a statement.

At around 1.20am, the suspected drug trafficker was observed meeting with a 37-year-old Malaysian man in a carpark in the vicinity of Teck Whye Lane. The two were then observed in a car together for a short moment before the Malaysian man alighted and the Singaporean drove off.

The Malaysian man was later arrested with S$3,400 in cash found in his possession.

CNB officers also arrested the Singaporean after he parked his car in another location nearby. Two bundles of heroin, valued at around S$64,000, were recovered from his car.

Investigations into the drug activities of both suspects are ongoing.

Both men could face the dealth penalty if the amount of diamorphine (pure heroin) trafficked exceeds 15g. That amount of diamorphine is equivalent to 1,250 straws, which is sufficient to feed the addiction of about 180 abusers for a week.

  • Teck Why Lane Gangsters: Secondary School Boys Sing ‘369’ Gang Cheer On Bus

Teck Why Lane Gangsters: Secondary School Boys Sing ‘369’ Gang Cheer On Bus

A group of secondary school students were caught on camera singing and doing gang cheers on the bus.

Stomper Ken sent in the video to Stomp, which he says he found on Twitter posted on July 17.

    Ken said:

“I was scrolling through my twitter and this appeared on my timeline. I find it ridiculous for secondary school students to behave in such a way.”

In the clip, the youths, some clad in school uniforms and others shirtless, can be heard singing along to a song being played.

They then start chanting the “Sah Lak Gau” (369) gang cheer, one of the biggest and most prominent secret societies in Singapor, at the top of their voices.

“It really disappoints me a lot and I felt disgrace for their parents as such I really think these kids need to get help from their teachers or whoever,” Ken added.
