Three-Day Operation Nabs 89 People For Vice And Immigration Offences

Law enforcement officers arrested 89 people for various offences in a three-day operation to weed out illegal activities, the police said on Monday.

These included voluntarily allowing their bank accounts to be utilised by unlicensed moneylenders, suspected involvement in vice, drug-related offences and immigration offences.

The operation was led by Jurong Police Division and supported by the Traffic Police (TP), Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB), Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).

The officers checked 1,240 persons and 1,520 vehicles at the land checkpoints as well as multiple locations in the western part of Singapore, including karaoke lounges in Jurong.

During a raid at the Sun City karaoke lounge above the Jurong Superbowl bowling alley, police arrested eight Vietnamese women for working illegally at the establishment.

Shopkeeper Muhammad who runs a provisions stand near the karaoke lounge said that that some of these women were working.

“So many foreigners there, we can’t be sure that all of them have work passes,” he said.

The officers also busted prostitution activities in forested areas along Kranji and arrested suspects for drug peddling in Bukit Batok.

The commander of the Jurong Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police Wilson Lim, said: “Police will continue to work closely with other Home Team agencies to deal with those who carry out such illicit activities.”

Goh Meng Seng: What Is Government Doing About PRC Vice Menace?

Caution: The following links are websites that sex peddlers put up to promote commercial prostitution. A FB friend wanted me to post this because he wanted MDA and the relevant authorities like anti-vice unit to take actions against the people behind these websites. The following the message written to me:

The following websites are the PRC prostitutes solicting themselves in Singapore, some operatte from HDB flats, some condos and some landed properties, some work full time using their tourist visa, some are students working part time, some are 陪读妈妈.

i want to ask the relevant authorities including MDA, if solicitng sex service via internet is an offence? Ask the immigration dept if these bitches holding tourist or 陪读妈妈 are allowed to work as prostitutes, worse are those PRC students and employment pass holders who may not be so easily detected working here as prosittues
if these are people who violated our laws, is our “police” going to take action or “close both eyes” and allow them to continue to operate their sex service here?

i want to ask HDB if these kinds of “activities” are allowed? we have sons and daughters studying, some of these bitches are operating in areas where renowned schools are situated.

11 Arrested In Connection With Online Gambling Syndicate

Nine men and two women aged between 26 and 51 were arrested on Sunday (May 3) for their suspected involvement in providing remote gambling services, police said in a news release on Monday.

This is the first syndicate to be investigated by police after the Remote Gambling Act was introduced last year, the Singapore Police Force said.

The Criminal Investigation Department on Sunday launched simultaneous raids at various locations, including Balestier, Hougang, Tiong Bahru, Tanjong Pagar, Newton and Woodlands. Officers seized S$215,000 cash, computers, mobile phones, as well as betting records and bank transaction record booklets.

The suspects are believed to have received illegal bets amounting to about S$3 million in the last two weeks.

Police investigations are ongoing. If convicted, the suspects could face up to five years’ jail, a fine of between S$20,000 and S$200,000, or both.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Investigations and Intelligence) and concurrent Director of the Criminal Investigation Department Tan Chye Hee said: “The Remote Gambling Act 2014 was enacted to tackle groups and individuals who profiteer from unlawful remote gambling to the detriment of the public at large. Police are determined to stamp out unlawful remote gambling and will continue to take tough enforcement actions against those who flout the law.”

  • Indonesia’s Punk vs Shariah

Indonesia’s punk scene is one of the biggest and most vibrant in the world. It’s a place where the country’s silenced youth can revolt against endemic corruption, social conventions, and their strict families. But in the world’s largest Islamic nation, political authorities and religious fundamentalists persecute this rebellious youth movement.

Nowhere is the anti-punk sentiment stronger than in Aceh—Indonesia’s only Sharia province—where 65 punks were arrested and detained at an Islamic moral training camp in which they had their heads shaved and clothes burnt. We traveled to North Sumatra to track down the last punks in Aceh, who still live under constant threat from the Sharia police.
