Harith Iskander: I Will Take Active Steps To Stop Child Pornography

Google Alert brought to my attention the fact that pictures of my son (and of me cradling my son) as well as numerous pictures of other children appear in a local pornographic site alongside graphic porn images.

I say “local”, cause the text is in Bahasa Malaysia. It’s both disgusting and incredibly disturbing and needless to say I am in the process of contacting MCMC to find out what action can be taken.

I am NOT naming the site here. If anyone has any experience in cases of this nature please let me know what’s the best way to handle this.

Update: the pictures of my son (and other children) have been taken down off the pornographic website (which originates from outside Malaysia). Thank you SKMM/MCMC for their swift response and assistance in making this happen. Thank you also to family, friends and everyone in the online community who showed concern and were as outraged as my wife and I were by the discovery. Thank you to the Internet-savvy individuals who had advised me about the correct avenues and steps to take in investigating this matter. Thank you to all the press and media who brought attention to this case.

Pedophilia and Child Porn are real issues which I feel are not taken seriously by some Malaysians and we should all work together to help eradicate this disease from our society.

This is not the last you will hear from me on this matter – it has spurred me to take active steps into doing whatever I can do to tackle this issue. Children are a blessing from The Almighty and should never EVER be exposed to abuse.

Have a Blessed Ramadhan everyone and Selamat Berbuka Puasa.

  • Photos Of Children Of Malaysian Celebrities Turn Up On Porn Site

Photos Of Children Of Malaysian Celebrities Turn Up On Porn Site

Malaysian comedian Harith Iskander was shocked and upset to find photographs of his then-newborn son featured alongside lewd images of naked women on a pornographic website on Wednesday.

Photos of the children of other popular Malaysian celebrities, including actress-singer Erra Fazira and singer Tomok, also appeared on the site, which is believed to be US-based.

He told The New Paper on Thursday: “I was shocked, angry and confused as to why the hell anyone would put my son’s photos on such a site. As a father, my first priority is to protect my children and that is why I got into action immediately and tried to find out as much information as I could.”

Harith’s wife, Dr Jezamine Lim, 31, said that she was rendered speechless and felt “so disgusted I vomited after that”.

He posted on Facebook on Thursday evening that the photos have since been removed by the site.

  • 5 Misconceptions Of Being A Police Officer In Singapore

5 Misconceptions Of Being A Police Officer In Singapore

    1. Arrest him, Officer!
No, cannot. The policeman cannot just come to the scene of crime and arrest the suspect. We have certain SOPs to follow and have to do some investigating before deciding to arrest someone. Even then, we cannot use the handcuff on everyone. Besides, the paperwork for a single arrest is unbelievable.

    2. Why so slow?
We don’t have to arrive at the scene of crime in a matter of a few minutes. We don’t have a helicopter nor do we drive a Ferrari. Our patrol cars are mostly just Subaru-s. Plus there are traffic lights. We have a certain timing to arrive for emergency and non emergency cases, and we always try to reach even before that.

    3. Taser him, Officer!
Not every policeman carries a taser. One needs to be certified and be of a certain rank. And NS guys are not required to carry them. Oww…

    4. So stuck up for what?
Unless we have a resting bitch face, most of us are friendly. Our aim is to build a bond with the community. We are not the bad guys: we just want to keep the bad guys away. It is also our professional obligation to keep a neutral face so that we look both approachable to the public and intimidating to the “bad guys”.

    5. So heavy!
We may look like we are not carrying much and can effortlessly run after people and give chase. Yes, we are fit enough to do that but did you know that our utility belt that houses the gun, baton and taser is rather heavy? It is like being pregnant with a 3 month old child and I am not even exaggerating.

  • Liverpool-Manchester United Rivalry Comes To Singapore’s National Stadium In November

Liverpool-Manchester United Rivalry Comes To Singapore’s National Stadium In November

The Liverpool Masters return to Singapore to take on their age-old rivals the Manchester United Masters in The Castlewood Group Battle of the Reds 2015 at the National Stadium on Nov 14.

Among the confirmed names are Luis Garcia, who joins the Liverpool Masters line up this year, according to a press release from organisers. The lineup also includes Jerzy Dudek, Robbie Fowler, Steve McManaman and Dietmar Hamann.

Garcia, who featured in the UEFA Champions League winning team in Istanbul in 2005, was also instrumental in the club clinching the UEFA Super Cup that year.

Over on the Manchester United Masters side, three players from the United double winning team of 1995/96 will also be in attendance, namely Andy Cole, Paul Parker and Lee Sharpe. They will be joined by Ronny Johnsen and Karel Poborsky.

United’s Lee Sharpe said: “We don’t like losing to Liverpool and they don’t like losing to us. They got the better of us the last few times we played them and I don’t know if revenge is the right word but we certainly owe them one, that’s for sure.”

A full house crowd attended last year’s Liverpool Masters match up against a team of ex-Singapore internationals at the Jalan Besar Stadium, where the Reds won 3-1.

Tickets are priced at S$19, S$30 and S$45 and are already on sale via SportsHubTix. Family packages for two adults and two children below the age of 12 are also available. 11,000 tickets have been released, organisers say.

Doors open at 5pm and kick off is at 6pm.

  • Singapore Sepak Takraw Player Recovering Well After Tragedy

Singapore Sepak Takraw Player Recovering Well After Tragedy

Singapore national sepak takraw player Muhammad Azreen Sairudin, who was involved in a motorcycle accident earlier this month that claimed the life of his brother, is now recuperating at home.

Speaking to TODAY, his uncle Sairi Sani said Azreen, 25, who was to have been part of Singapore’s sepak takraw squad for the recent 28th SEA Games, has been discharged from Tan Tock Seng Hospital last Friday after spending close to two weeks in the intensive care unit.

But Azreen, who required surgery on his injured arm, must wait at least a few more months before he can return to the sport.

“He is doing well. He was discharged last Friday, we brought him to hospital on Monday (June 22) for further checks.” said Sairi, 50. “He is strong and recovering very well, but he also thinks about his brother and feels sad when he recalls what happened. But we (family) managed to cheer him up.”

Azreen and his 21-year-old brother Aqil, who was riding pillion, were on the Seletar Expressway on June 7 when the accident happened.

Azreen was to have played a key role for Singapore in the sepak takraw competition at the SEA Games.

In the aftermath, national team-mates and officials from the Singapore Sepak Takraw Federation had rallied around the player.

“His arm was badly injured when a vein ruptured,” said Sairi. “The doctor replaced the vein in the arm and now the arm is back to as per normal. His legs are okay. It’s just the arms which will take a few months to recover before he can play again.”

One of Singapore’s more promising players, Azreen had been selected for Singapore’s sepak takraw team for the June 5 to 16 SEA Games, where the hosts finished with one silver and seven bronze medals.
