    Have Chocolate Through Your Nose Anyone?

    BRUGES (Belgium) — When Belgian chocolatier Dominique Persoone created a chocolate-sniffing device for a Rolling Stones party in 2007, he never imagined demand would stretch much beyond the rock ‘n’ roll scene. But, seven years later, he has sold 25,000 of them.

    Inspired by a device his grandfather used to propel tobacco snuff up his nose, Persoone created a ‘Chocolate Shooter’ to deliver a hit of Dominican Republic or Peruvian cocoa powder, mixed with mint and either ginger or raspberry.

    “The mint and the ginger really tinkle your nose,” the 46-year-old said in his chocolate factory in the medieval city of Bruges. “Then the mint flavor goes down and the chocolate stays in your brain.”

    Tattoo-clad Persoone, who has collaborated with celebrated chefs such as The Fat Duck’s Heston Blumenthal and elBulli’s Ferran and Albert Adria, has a history of culinary innovation.

    Alongside the classics, he has created chocolates flavored with bacon and onion, oysters and even grass.

    It took some perfecting to create the snorting powder as chocolate itself was too dry. Before the successful formula was discovered, Persoone used a mix that included chili pepper.

    “It’s a very bad idea,” he said.

    The chocolate shooters, which sell for €45 (S$69) each, have been exported to Russia, India, Canada, Australia and the United States.

    The packaging bears a warning against excessive sniffing, but Persoone insists it is safe. He was inspired by the role of the nose when tasting food and, he says, a certain idea of fun.

    “The mentality when you think about sniffing is: ‘Oh it’s kinky, guys who do that stuff…’” Persoone said.

    “I’m not the bad boy promoting drugs, not at all … Life is boring. Let’s have fun.”

    Ezad Exist Mengaku Bersalah Miliki Dadah Syabu

    GOMBAK: Bekas vokalis kumpulan Exist iaitu Ezad Lazim (gambar) mengaku bersalah atas tuduhan memiliki dadah jenis syabu seberat 0.30 gram pada 19 November tahun lalu.

    Pengakuan Ezad atau nama sebenarnya Mohd Rohaizad Mohamad Lazim dibuat di hadapan Majistret Nurul Izzah Hassan Basri di Mahkamah Majistret Selayang di sini, semalam, lapor MStar Online semalam.

    Pertuduhan pula dibacakan oleh pendakwa raya, Encik Arunjothy, dan Ezad tidak diwakili peguam.

    Bagaimanapun Majistret Nurul Izzah menetapkan 10 Februari ini bagi menjatuhkan hukuman bagi kesalahan tersebut.

    Siasatan kes tersebut dibuat mengikut Akta Dadah Berbahaya.

    Ezad yang berasal dari Alor Setar, Kedah, ditangkap berhampiran Kompleks Selayang Mall kira-kira 1.30 petang pada 19 November tahun lalu dengan dia menggenggam satu peket syabu pada tangan kirinya.

    Hasil pemeriksaan air kencing penyanyi itu juga mendapati dia positif dadah jenis syabu.

    Penyanyi itu sebelum ini pernah menyertai Exist pada 1995, dan telah merakam sebanyak enam album bersama kumpulan tersebut sebelum meneruskan kerjaya solo.

    Ezad juga pernah membintangi beberapa filem terbitan Metrowelth International Group (MIG) termasuk Mami Jarum bersama aktres Zahida Rafik.

    Ezad, dalam satu temu bual dengan hos rancangan Live! di Astro, Datuk Aznil Nawawi, baru-baru ini, mengakui salah pergaulan dan tekanan perasaan menjadi punca dia terjerumus dalam kancah dadah.

    Ezad berkata kegagalan bercinta dan kesedihan setelah keluar daripada Exist sebelum berkahwin dahulu menyebabkan dia terdedah kepada pergaulan yang rosak.

    Katanya, setelah bergelar suami, dia berazam meninggalkan tabiat buruknya.

    Namun, ia sukar dilakukan.

    Apa-apa pun, persediaan setiap persandingan itu adalah terpulang kepada kemampuan pasangan tersebut. Tidak guna juga berhabis ribuan ringgit pada hari persandingan tetapi berhutang. Sederhana adalah sebaiknya.

    Last week Hong Kong actor Jackie Chan was bestowed with the Panglima Mangku Wilayah (PMW) award from the Yang di Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mua’dzam Shah. The award now means that Chan carries the title of “Datuk”.

    Chan is of course a global superstar, having headlined movies such as Police Story, Drunken Master, Project A, and a few Hollywood flicks such as Rush Hour and Shanghai Knights. But did you know that the Kung Fu master also once starred in a porn movie?

    According to Hong Kong media, Information Daily, Chan was in a 1975 porn movie titled “All in the Family”. This of course was before he established himself as an actor and achieve famed. “I had to do anything I could to make a living 31 years ago, but I don’t think it’s a big deal. Even Marlon Brando used to be exposed in his movies,” he was quoted to have said. “The porn movies at that time were more conservative compared to the current films,” he added further.

    The movie was directed by Zhu Mu and also starred Dean Shek, Tien Chun, and Sammo Hung.
