Atan Ahmad Osman: Melayu Singapura Tak Layak Kritik Pencapaian Dr Mahathir

Seorang bekas pemberita part time Berita Harian Singapura beria ia cuba mengkritik dan mencemoh Tun Dr M tanpa malu malu, sementara diri nya sendiri tak lulus peperiksaan tammat sekolah menengah MCE ( sekolah melayu )

Apa bila di nasihati supaya jangan campur tangan masaalah politik Negara lain dia block kita pula, kalau nak jadi reporter full time pun tak mampu, hanya sekarang cuba menjadi seorang juru gambar arti nya anda tak berkebolehan

  • Goh Meng Seng: Do Not Divert Attention From Real Issues In Benjamin Lim’s Case

Goh Meng Seng: Do Not Divert Attention From Real Issues In Benjamin Lim’s Case

I am utterly disappointed by the Minister for Home Affairs (who is also the Minister of Law, which I always feel is totally inappropriate as it may constitute a conflict of interests but this article is not about this) Mr. Shanmugam’s statement made in parliament with regards to the case of Benjamin Lim Jun Hui.

Instead of addressing the many valid pertinent concerns raised by the public, on and off-line, he has put up a barrage of fire attacks at The Online Citizen (TOC) and the President of Law Society, Mr. Thio Shen Yi with totally irrelevant petty details of bickering.

Whether there were 4 or 5 policemen went to the school, wearing police uniforms or plain clothes are really irrelevant to the pertinent questions asked by TOC, Mr Thio and the public at large.

It is even more ridiculous for the Minister to cast doubts on TOC’s intent by raising the fact that it has reported that the Police refused to comment on the matter when approached!

For whatever reasons the police refused to comment (such as those reasons presented by the Minister himself), it should just say so when TOC asked them! A good and competent Public Relations Officer from the Police would have made simple comment like “We cannot comment on this case as internal investigation is still ongoing.” or “We cannot comment on this case as there will be Coroner Inquiry, please wait for the result of Coroner Inquiry”…etc.

The total ignore or silence from the Police is smacked of either arrogance or complete incompetency in Public Relations communication.

The Police has its own Pubic Relations officers. If the Police refused to answer to TOC’s inquiries, then the Minister cannot blame the TOC for reporting so (the truth that the police refused to comment) and the public will have their own discretion to form their own opinion.

So my dear Minister, it is the FAILURE of Police Public Relations officers in responding to the matter in timely manner that created public perception, not TOC. TOC merely reported the NO RESPONSE from the police!

It is of course the prerogative of the Police in keeping silence but it must also understand that keeping quiet will have its consequences and implications.

By the way, the Main stream media also reported 5 officers went to the school! Please lah! Why not fire at the Main stream media as well?

As for the President of Law Society, the point made was the necessity of the police making the arrest at the school! So, don’t try to divert from this pertinent question by going into the irrelevant bickering. Do you think it is appropriate or necessary for the police to send 4 or 5 police officers to the school to make the arrest?

There are more important questions raised by the public and I expect the Minister to address them, instead of using diversion tactic to dodge from these questions and public anger:

    1) Does the Minister think it is RIGHT (never mind if it is legal or not) for policemen to go to school to arrest students who are just suspects of crimes?

    2) Does the Minster think it is RIGHT (never mind if it is legal or not) for the police to interrogate minors without the presence of guardian or legal representative? In fact, is it right for police to deny legal representation or aid to suspects, regardless of age, during interrogation?

These are the two important issues raised by the President of Law Society and they are valid questions to be addressed fully. These questions raised does NOT constitute sub judice but it is of GREAT PUBLIC INTERESTS.

I hope the Minister could address these real issues instead of wasting time trying to divert attention to inconsequential minor details and bickering.

Oh, by the way, the poor boy was just investigated but NO OFFICIAL JUDGMENT has been made about him just yet. I do not understand why the Minister would insinuate him as “guilty” in parliament just because, according to the police interrogation, he “confessed” to the crime. His confession could be contested in court if there was really a court case but unfortunately, he won’t have that trial now. So I would urge the Minister not to put judgment on the poor dead boy in parliament even though he is also the Minister of Law, but he is not the judge nor the case has been heard.

  • Singapore Homes Seriously Unaffordable

    Singapore Homes Seriously Unaffordable

Singapore’s market cooling measures have been effective in reducing the prices of HDB flats and private homes over the past few years, but housing costs here are still seen as too high, revealed findings published by a global report last month.

According to the 12th Annual Demographia International Housing Affordability Survey, Singapore has a “seriously unaffordable” rating of 5.0, no change from last year’s survey.

The report used the median multiple indicator, which is the median house price divided by gross annual median household income, to rate housing affordability across 367 cities in nine countries.

A grade of 3.0 and below is considered affordable, 3.1 to 4.0 (moderately unaffordable), 4.1 to 5.0 (seriously unaffordable) and 5.1 and over (severely unaffordable).

Despite being seen as expensive, the report noted that “Singapore has been far more successful in controlling housing affordability than in markets that have followed the British urban containment model”.

Specifically, the HDB was recognized for ramping up the supply of new flats and reducing new home prices.

“One strategy has been to increase what are effectively “across the board” subsidies for all new houses (not counting special grants, such as for first home buyers).

“Should the present policy continue, it is likely that resale house prices will rise slower or even fall in the future, improving Singapore’s housing affordability,” said Demographia.

Eligible first-time buyers of new HDB flats currently enjoy up to $80,000 in housing grants, comprising up to $40,000 in Special CPF Housing Grants and up to $40,000 in Additional CPF Housing Grants.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong has the least affordable housing in the world, with a median multiple of 19.0. This rating is also the highest recorded in the 12 years of the Demographia Survey.

  • Former Singapore World Cup Referee Appointed AFC Director Of Referees

Former Singapore World Cup Referee Appointed AFC Director Of Referees

Former World Cup referee Shamsul Maidin has become the first Singaporean to be appointed as the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) director of referees.

Having previously served as a FIFA referee instructor and AFC elite referee assessor, the 49-year-old took over his new role from Japanese Yoshimi Ogawa earlier this year.

“I am humbled by this exciting opportunity and I am relishing the chance to deliver on the strong foundation and standards established by my predecessor,” Shamsul told The New Paper.

“I am very passionate about the education and development of referees in Asia and, together with the AFC member associations and stakeholders, I am confident we can continue to raise the standard of Asian referees.”

Shamsul, who started refereeing in 1996 and retired in 2007, enjoyed an illustrious career which saw him officiate at the 2006 World Cup–being only the second Singaporean to do so after George Suppiah at the 1974 edition.

He was also the only non-African referee to officiate at the 2006 African Nations Cup, and won the AFC Referee of the Year twice in 2005 and 2006.

The AFC is convinced it has found the right man for the job, with a release on its website saying: “Shamsul’s wealth of experience, not only in Asia but also globally, places him as a leading expert to maintain and enhance the high standards of refereeing in Asia.

“Having risen through the ranks of the continent, Shamsul’s glittering career – both as a professional referee and an instructor – makes him a great addition and a valuable asset to the AFC and the member associations.”

  • Reckless Driver Refuses To Admit Fault, Almost Runs Over My Wife To Escape

Reckless Driver Refuses To Admit Fault, Almost Runs Over My Wife To Escape

REQUESTING HELP TO SHARE THIS POST, APPEAL TO WITNESSES AND SPREAD THE WORD ON THIS RASH, ROAD TRAFFIC ACCIDENT.

On 26th Feb 2016, Friday at around 11.15pm, we were riding along Kallang Road on the 2nd lane of the road opposite from ICA building when a white Toyota Corolla SJW 9619S exited a side road and instead of entering the last lane, it simply went right into the 2nd lane despite moving traffic. It came right infront of and collided into us. A taxi even swerved ,missed it, stopped to help us and warned the driver because he was not only driving recklessly but also wasn’t even wearing his seatbelt! Car had 2 women in the back who suspiciously fled immediately after the collision and the 2 men in the car came out, apologised and felt they were not in the wrong, hesitated to stop at a safer place, kept insisting if we are alright and was rushing us to leave the scene to the hospital soon as I had pains. My wife managed to slowly get off the bike with minimal injuries but was traumatised while I hit my lower abdomen on the bike tank and was in pain. His friend suggested that we not block oncoming traffic, so we suggested that we head to the bustop ahead after taking photos to recover. Even at that point, he still kept going on that we looked alright. Getting his particulars slipped our minds repeatedly as he gave the wrong number twice and refused to call my handphone for the right number, even after typing the number and showing it to him, he still insisted that he gave the right number.

The moment we reached the hospital, they said we would have to pay for all medical expenses. My wife and I then saw that he seemed a little insincere so we decided that it’s best we call Traffic Police. Our biggest mistake was not doing it at the scene of the crime and trusting his act of honestly.

While we made the call, he immediately called someone else on the phone, started shouting, entered his car and tried to escape! He even tried to run over my wife at the A&E Carpark while trying to exit but she move away. I stopped him at the exit gantry and he inched forward even while I stood in front of his car and then moments later, he accelerated fast to run me over. I injured my knee and fell onto the front of his car in this 2nd collision. Many witnesses at the TTSH A&E lobby saw this and came to help, including 2 police officers who were on the compound due to an unrelated case. The officers ran to us and asked him to move his car to the side, he did and when their back was turned to him, he sped off escaping from the police as well! We have reported all of this and are still in hospital now but this man was ruthless and we are both traumatised both physically and mentally from all this. Even though we reported this, we were told by TP that they could not update us even now if they’ve contacted the guy or not.

This man looks in his late 50s, curly grey hair, around 1.65-1.75M tall, was dressed in a short-sleeved checkered shirt tucked in a formal pants. He claimed his name was Richard and gave me a false contact number before I tried the line and he finally gave me the right phone number for what seemed to be his spare phone (H/P: 81151714). He was accompanied by a shorter, malay-chinese looking man who claimed to be his friend and ‘brother’ who looked just a few years younger, was very well spoken and conversed in english to us (Hokkien to ‘Richard’ who could not speak english too well).

We would like to seek help from the public to find these kind souls who stepped up to help us and stand up for us in both incidents. Though we were in shock and could not obtain your contact numbers then, we need your help now as witnesses to this man’s rash act.

    Please spread the word.
    Justice must be served.

Thank you to all in advance and God Bless.
