Advertising Gimmick: Cafe Claims Lasagna Is One Of The Favourite Food Of Prophet Muhammad

I’m not a pious Muslim by any means but even I cannot take this……who in their right mind would claim that Prophet Muhammad liked eating lasagna?!

There are so many ways to market your food. You don’t have to resort to this to bolster your sales.

You are just making it confusing for Muslims and making Muslims the laughing stock of others.

  • Grabhitch Driver With Pet Chihuahua Strikes Again

Grabhitch Driver With Pet Chihuahua Strikes Again

The next time you GRABCAR / GRABSHARE / GRABHITCH – please do becareful.

Hi all. Wanna bring your attention to this – especially ladies. (PLEASE SHARE THIS)

    grabhitch-driver

My friend and i booked grabhitch yesterday (02/01/2017) at about 2250 hours from 444 PASIR RIS DRIVE 6 to MUSTAFA CENTRE. Awhile later, we got a driver. While waiting for the driver at the foot of the block, my friend received an incoming call from the driver directing us to go to level 2 of the carpark which was just right behind the block.

Not thinking anything was amiss, we went. Upon reaching, we saw this blonde tatooed guy with a CHIHUAHUA barking aggresively – non-stop. He told us to quickly get in the car.

As i recalled reading an article about an incident between a grab driver, his pet and his passenger, i told my friend to not board the car. We told him politely that i am not comfortable taking his car, with his aggresive barking chihuahua. We also said to him that he should inform us first if he is bringing a pet with him to check if we were comfortable with it or not.

He then replied, “FUCK OFF, IF YOU ARE NOT COMFORTABLE THEN DON’T HITCH OR GRAB!!” We were both stunned. I told him that the only reason I am not comfortable with it was because his dog was barking aggressively throughout the 8 to 10 minutes we were there. We have the right to refuse the ride because he did not inform us that we will be grab hitching with a chihuahua. He asked us to get lost and made rude and sarcastic remarks.

Not wanting to aggravate him further, we walked off. I called grab customer service and told her about the situation and she said that she will write a report about the driver.

Definitely, the WORST driver with an ULTIMATE SHIT ATTITUDE ever.

  • Singapore PR In Jordan ICU – Family Still Seeking Donations For $123,000 Medical Fees

Singapore PR In Jordan ICU – Family Still Seeking Donations For $123,000 Medical Fees

He fell after being pushed during a minor pilgrimage in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

In the confusion, someone stepped on Mr Abdul Ghafur Mohd Ibrahim’s left ankle.

Today, the 59-year-old bus driver is recovering in a hospital in Jordan, with his left leg amputated after it was infected by flesh-eating bacteria.

Facing a rising medical bill that is at $123,000 currently, Mr Abdul Ghafar’s family is trying to raise money, along with the sum needed to repatriate him.

His son-in-law Mohamad Ameen Said Abdul Kadir, 37, told The Straits Times on Monday: “We’re shocked that a small ankle injury could become so serious. We were heartbroken when we learnt he was infected by flesh-eating bacteria.”

Mr Abdul Ghafur and his wife were part of a group that left Singapore on Dec 11 to perform their “umrah”.

After his fall, and towards the end of the pilgrimage, he discovered big blisters on his left foot.

As he was staying in Jordan then, he checked into Al Khalidi Hospital in Amman on Dec 23.

For the next three days, doctors gave the Malaysia-born Singapore permanent resident antibiotics to control the infection on his ankle, which was oozing pus.

Three members of Mr Abdul Ghafur’s family flew to Jordan on Dec 27 to keep his wife company.

Despite the antibiotics, the infection continued to spread aggressively, said Mr Ameen, an operations manager.

Mr Abdul Ghafur’s infection worsened after he developed high fever and low blood pressure and eventually, the left leg had to be amputated above the knee.

Today, the bacterial infection appears to be contained, although Mr Abdul Ghafur remains in intensive care and is being supported by a ventilator.

While he is recovering, his family has been saddled with a hefty medical bill.

A copy of the 35-page medical bill and medical report was shown to ST.

His 35-year-old daughter, who wanted to be known only as Madam Rabiathul, said “the medical fees are too high for us to cover”.

Through contributions made by strangers who had seen the family’s plea for donations on social media, the family has managed to raise around $32,000, which is still not enough.

They also expect the bill to increase.

Mr Ameen felt the $55 travel insurance his father-in-law had paid as part of the “umrah” package was “inadequate”.

ST understands that the travel insurance covers only $20,000 for hospitalisation and $50,000 for repatriation to Singapore.

Mr Ameen said: “The cheapest quote to fly him back to Singapore with proper medical attention is around US$120,000 ($174,000).

“And he is in no condition to fly.

“What is important for the family right now is to generate as much funds as possible. We’re thankful some help is coming our way.”

Mr Ameen said he had sought assistance from Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The family is also looking into Mr Abdul Ghafur’s personal accident insurance plan, which has a clause for permanent disability.

Mr Ameen said: “My father-in-law’s personal accident insurer needs to see him in Singapore where his condition will be examined and verified by the insurer’s doctor before any payout is made.”

Mr Abdul Ghafur’s plight was intially brought to light by netizens, including Ms Rubiah Suib, a colleague of Madam Rabiathul, who had appealed for donations on her Facebook on Dec 28.

Her post, which was one of many similar posts, was shared more than 500 times.

  • Live Below Your Means In This World So You Can Prepare For Life In The Hereafter

Live Below Your Means In This World So You Can Prepare For Life In The Hereafter

Waited before I made this posting. Didn’t want to spoil anyone’s vacation.

It was so wonderful to see so many of my FB friends going on vacation with their families. I saw so many countries visited. From all corners of the globe. Truly fantastic to spend quality time with family.

Recently had dinner with an old friend from varsity. He’s a very successful businessman, running a multi-million dollar enterprise for more than two decades. And what a kind heart. He has helped so many of the poor and downtrodden all over the world. May Allah azzawajal Bless and Protect him. But I digress.

He said that never before on the more than two decades of doing business has he seen the situation so bad. Not the 2008 financial crisis. The 2003 SARS one. Or any one of the financial downturns in the last two decades.

MAS recently made the announcement that we should be circumspect with our spending, putting away savings for the coming financial headwinds. I honestly can’t remember the last time they did this.

Anecdotallly u can see signs of a slowdown if u look carefully. Juz yesterday went to IKEA. Normally on a weekend they will be quite a queue at the checkout. This time around I hardly had to wait to be served.

Bringing me to my main point.

We should look upon the impending financial slowdown as an opportunity. So we should create a financial ‘war chest’ to be used when the time is right.

For e.g. My car is 8 years old. Alhamdulillah it still purrs like a kitten. So in the event of a financial slowdown, the coe will fall. If and when it does I’ll be ready to take advantage.

And the niyyah (intent) is to try to steer clear of interest costs (riba). Hopefully the coe will fall at the time I need to renew the coe. That way, I InshaAllah will pay cash for the coe and get another ten years of usage without incurring any riba. Incidentally 8 years ago I bought the car and paid cash in full. So InshaAllah I can have usage of it for the next 10 years without paying any installments and be virtually debt free.

Another person may be looking to get a bigger flat coz of growing family etc.

So financial savings now can mean one can strike when the iron is hot. Also if u r a hi income earner, u may want to think of getting a second property. The objective is to get a steady stream of passive income, such that you don’t have to be so dependent on the promotions n bonuses at work.

This is important methinks. If one is too focused on promos n bonuses it would take up slot of time and energy. And you pay a price, because less time N energy would be spent serving the Deen of Allah azzawajal and investing for the Everafter. The opportunity cost is not worth paying.

Also if u r too dependent on the monthly income, U will be unable to speak up at work when the situation calls for it.

So we need to think strategically. Link our financial goals towards freeing ourselves to serve His Deen.

In the meantime, Live simply. Don’t juz live within our means. Live BELOW our means. And keep our intentions pure.

If we are strategic now, we can take advantage of any financial headwinds that come our way.

At least we won’t be saddled in debt. The modern-day slavery.

Live in this world. Live for the next.

    And God Knows best. Wallahualam.
