Violence In KL As Men Smash Gate And Assault Members Of Public In Lead Up To Rally

Stomper Yvonne sent two videos of separate incidents documenting violence in Kuala Lumpur believed to linked to the ‘red shirt’ rally due to happen tomorrow (Sep 16).

In the first video, around three to four men can be seen kicking and trying to pull apart the grills of a door of a shophouse, possibly attempting to gain entry into the unit.

The Stomper mentioned that the shophouse belonged to a Malaysian politician.

The second video first shows a big group of men gathering outside a seafood restaurant. The door of the restaurant was then broken by an aggressor

Chaos ensued after a man in long hair started grabbing and assaulting another man while the group watched.

    Yvonne continued:

“Police were at the scene but they were not doing anything about what was going on.

“I hope Singaporeans will take extra care when going to Kuala Lumpur or stay away as the situation there is quite complicated.

According to The Straits Times, the controversial ‘red shirt’ rally in the Malaysian capital organised by Malay rights group Pesaka has been called to counter the Bersih 4 protest last month.

Critics have said the Bersih rally, which was called to demand electoral reforms, was dominated by the Chinese to challenge the political power of the Malays.

When we started dating, everything was fine until i’m pregnant. At first yes he asked me to abort. But after the long conversation, eventually he agreed on rising our child tgt. And so things carry on, till I’m about 20 weeks pregnancy, he suddenly leave without a good reason (excuses), no contact at all. So basically i went thru the entire pregnancy and labor alone.

After his son is born i went to the family court to file the child maintenance towards him. After then we started to contact each other again. We go thru DNA as he requested. He asked let’s be tgt and drop the case. Obviously I’m not that dumb. So i replied him ” You want to be tgt can, but the maintenance still have to carry on, the assurance for my son. He agreed on the amount and so the order takes about 2 months to finalize.

In between that period things was really great and he really did his part as a father. But after the order finalize, guess what he said.. I’m committed to you, but we aint in a rs. So thank god i didnt drop the case.

Last month i found out i’m pregnant w his second child, he told me let’s get marry, but i have to abort this child as our finance couldnt afford right now. I know aborting is inhuman, but the thought of giving my son a complete family, I listened and did what he say.

Until last night he suddenly called off the wedding and leave me again, due to his friends. He claimed that he’s top priority are his friends.

So this noon i went down to his place wanting to talk things out. i called for him 100x, spam him texts, he just ignored. Till the extend i have to knock his door variously for him to come out. We had a small fight downstair when i’m carrying his son, i torn his shirt and he pushed me and ran off just like that.

So in order to have a talk with him, I waited 8 hours downstair his place with his son. He knew but he just ignore, telling me its over and etc, period.

SCDF: 10 Rescued From Warehouse Fire In Ubi Road

SCDF was alerted to a fire at 3019 Ubi Road 1 at 5:34pm. Upon SCDF’s arrival, the fire was raging at a ground floor corner warehouse unit and the unit directly above it. These units were part of a four-storey factory block.

SCDF firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus equipment had to battle thick black smoke which was billowing from the warehouse. The smoke also enshrouded the entire block resulting in poor visibility and this required the firefighters to exercise extreme caution in carrying out the firefighting as well as search and rescue operations.

SCDF firefighters rescued 9 adults and an infant from the block, including a man who was trapped in a cargo lift. Of the 9 adults, 1 female was conveyed to Changi General Hospital for smoke inhalation. SCDF also conveyed 1 firefighter to Changi General Hospital for heat exhaustion.

SCDF has brought the fire under control and is currently working with 5 water jets and 1 Unmanned Firefighting Machine.

    UPDATE:

The fire has been extinguished at approximately 8.30pm this evening. SCDF firefighters are still at the fire scene conducting damping down operations (applying water to cool the burnt surfaces) with 2 water jets and 1 Unmanned Firefighting Machine. Primary School Teaching Assistant Dies In Accident With PRC Embassy Car

A 32-YEAR-OLD primary school teaching assistant died on the spot after his motorcycle collided with a car from the Chinese Embassy on Sunday morning.

Tan Kiat Siang was believed to have been on his way to pay respects to his father, who had died recently, when he got into an accident at about 10.30am at the junction of Mandai Lake Road and Mandai Road, reported Chinese newspaper Shin Min Daily News yesterday.

Mr Tan was an allied educator – someone who supports teachers in their work – in mathematics at Naval Base Primary School, where he was also in charge of the Info Comm Club.

An eyewitness told Shin Min Daily that a red Volvo was preparing to turn right from Mandai Road into Mandai Lake Road, when Mr Tan approached from the opposite direction on his motorcycle and collided with the car, landing a metre away on the road.

There were a few passengers in the embassy car, which Shin Min Daily reported as possibly being on its way to the zoo.

Noah Ong, vice-principal of Naval Base Primary School, told My Paper via e-mail: “The school is deeply saddened by the passing of our allied educator.”

Mr Tan was supposed to return to teach at the school yesterday.

“He was responsible and well-liked by his colleagues and students. We will provide counselling support to affected students and staff, and are rendering the necessary assistance to his family,” added Mr Ong.

Friends and relatives of Mr Tan have shared their condolences on Facebook, with pupils saying that he was the best educator.

Police confirmed that they were informed of the accident on Sunday morning and that paramedics on the scene established that a 32-year-old man had died.

The Chinese Embassy told The Straits Times: “A staff member of the Chinese Embassy in Singapore involved in a traffic accident in Mandai Road on the morning of Sept 13 is under investigation by the Singapore Police.”

  • IIUM Scholar Advises Muslims To Use Syariah-Compliant Investment Tools

IIUM Scholar Advises Muslims To Use Syariah-Compliant Investment Tools

DEALING with syariah-compliant financial institutions is obligatory and not an option for Muslim customers in Brunei, said an Islamic scholar from the region.

“(Products offered by) conventional banks are financial products that are not permissible in Islam as they involve riba (usury),” said Dr Zaharuddin Abdul Rahman, senior lecturer at the college of economics, International Islamic University Malaysia.

He said Muslims should not move away from Islamic banking or investments and disregard the Islamic aspects of doing business just because they want to optimise their profit or investments.

“We spoke of how riba is the highest degree of haram in dealing with business, money, earning and spending. So there is no way – when there are Islamic banks around (in Brunei) – can a Muslim ignore these Islamic banks by going to the conventional banks because of price or whatever reasons,” he toldThe Brunei Times on the sidelines of a symposium held at The Empire Hotel and Country Club last week.

He said Muslims shouldn’t use price or efficiency as an excuse to stay away from Islamic banks.

Dr Zaharuddin said there are various ways in which a Muslim can invest with an Islamic bank so that they can grow their money through syariah-compliant methods.

The first option is to get a Muslim investment manager.

“That type of investment is called Wakalah (protection or remedying on behalf of others) so the bank will use their expertise to find where would be best securities to invest in and then the bank will take some profit in terms of agency fee,” he said.

He said if the bank manages to achieve a target profit, then all of it will be returned to the investors.

“This type of contract is available in Islamic banks in Malaysia and all around the world,” he said.

Another method is by investing money in unit trusts, if an investor decides to go for a “low to medium risk” investment vehicle.

“ The contract will be under Wakalah and the agency will collect fees upfront and use their expertise in purchasing appropriate shares and securities as well as carry out trading based on their analysis,” he said.

Unit trusts investing, may however, take “three or four years” to yield returns, he added.

Muslims who want to invest their money for short to medium term, may also invest their money into a “general investment account which replicates a fixed deposit account”.

“You can choose between three months to one year and then at the end of the maturity date, the bank will be able to give you some dividends based on the performance of the investment,” he said.

High-risk investors can buy shares of companies that operate syariah-compliant businesses.

“That is also permissible in Islam with the condition that you are using your own money and not borrowing from someone else with interests,” Dr Zaharuddin said.

Another way of investing money is opening a physical business.

“So you are using your own money to open a business. That is also an investment. Say you have for example, $100,000 to open a boutique, you just need to have knowledge and skills in managing cash flows, marketing and the whole operations. This is also acceptable in Islam,” he said.

The investor can also get a partner who can manage a business.

“You can do a partnership with somebody who knows how to market the product or business. So they may put 20 per cent of the capital and you pump in 80 per cent. That type of investment is calledmusharakah (partnership),” he said.

Another method is a profit-sharing investment whereby an investor chooses not to have direct control of the operations.

“For example, your friend has a good restaurant and you want to invest in it. You may put $100,000 into the business but you don’t have to work with him. Depending on the agreement, the restaurant owner, as an entrepreneur will run the business and you will have the privilege to do the audit to ensure the business is on the right track,” he said.
