    Ahmadiyya Response To MUIS

    On the 2 May 2017, Yahoo News Singapore published an article titled “Behind the belief: The Ahmadis of Singapore’.

    Yahoo interviewed Ali who is one of about 280 active members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Singapore, based in a mosque along Onan Road. These believers claim that the Ahmadiyya movement is a branch of Islam, with one key difference: while it accepts the divinity of Prophet Muhammad, it does not believe that he is the last messenger of Allah. Ahmadis look to their founder Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, a 19th century religious leader from the Punjab, as the prophesied Mahdi, or redeemer of Islam.

    Mainstream Muslims in Singapore and around the world do not consider the Ahmadis to be their co-religionists. The Islamic Religious Council of Singapore, or MUIS, issued a fatwa (ruling) in 1969 declaring Mirza Ghulam to be “not only a kafir (unbeliever) who is murtad (a Muslim who has rejected Islam), his teachings are misleading and could lead people astray from the real teachings of Islam”.

    “MUIS or MUIS fatwa (edict) committee issued a fatwa (edict) dating back to 23 June 1969 declaring the Founder of the Ahmadiyya Community, Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (on whom be peace) who claimed to be the Promised Messiah of the later days, ‘not only a kafir (disbeliever) who is murtad (apostate), his teachings are misleading and could lead people astray from the real teachings of Islam’, God forbid!”

    Another believer when prompted, replied emphatically, “Yeah, of course. Very thankful, we are quite fortunate. Our government is…very particular that we should not instigate or use religion to incite others. Otherwise, we could not have (this building).”

    Muslim Women Gather At Westminster Bridge To Remember Victims Of Terrorist Attack

    Woman gathered at the scene of last Wednesday’s terror attack in Westminster and linked arms as a show of solidarity with its victims.

    Wearing blue as a symbol of hope, the women said emotions were “overwhelming” as they stood on the bridge where pedestrians were mown down by 52-year-old terrorist Khalid Masood .

    They formed a human chain by holding hands for five minutes as Big Ben chimed at 4pm.

    People from a range of backgrounds joined the event, organised by Women’s March On London.

    Three members of the public died and many more were injured after Masood sped along the bridge before storming the parliamentary estate and stabbing PC Keith Palmer to death.

    Fariha Khan, 40, a GP from Surbiton, said: “The feeling of what happened here on

    “We thought of the ordinary people who were here and were mown down, standing here like this, it was very overwhelming.”

    She was joined by fellow Ahmadiyya Muslims who said they wanted to add to the condemnation of the violent attack and stand defiant in the face of terrorism .

    Sarah Waseem, 57, from Surrey, said: “When an attack happens in London, it is an attack on me.

    “It is an attack on all of us. Islam totally condemns violence of any sort. This is abhorrent to us.”

    Being present for the demonstration shows people in the city are united in support of democracy, said Ayesha Malik.

    The 34-year-old mother-of-two, also from Surrey, said: “As a visible Muslim I think it was important to show solidarity with the principles that we all hold dear, the principles of plurality, diversity and so on.”

    Londoner Mary Bennett said she was present to make a “small gesture”.

    The retired healthcare worker said: “I am here to show that in a quiet way we continue to go where we like and do what we like in London.

    “This is my city. It’s a very small gesture but life is made up of small gestures.”

    MUIS Fatwa: Qadiyan (Ahmadiyah) Are Not Muslims And Are Deviant

    Question: Are the followers of Qadiani considered as kafir?

    Answer: In the discussion over this matter, a book entitled “Anjam Atham”, written in Urdu-Arabic by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad himself, was referred to. This is the only book that is recognised by the followers of Ahmadiyah in Singapore and Malaysia. Mirza Ghulam Ahmad is not only a kafir who is murtad, his teachings are misleading and could lead people astray from the real teachings of Islam. The following extracts from the book is clear proof that he is not Muslim and no longer an adherent of the religion.

    1. “Oh Ahmad (Mirza) how perfect is your name and my name is imperfect (Allah)”

    2. “Truly We (Allah) had delivered it (The Qur’an) near the Qadian.”

    3. “Allah praises you (Mirza) from His Arasy and Allah comes walking to face you (Mirza).”

    4. “You (Mirza) come from Our sperm (Allah).”

    5. “As if Allah came from the heavens, His name is Manuwel.”

    6. “Whichever man who does not place his faith in me (Mirza) they are all kafir and the future tenants of Hell.”

    Apart from these statements, there are other statements and declarations made by Ghulam Ahmad which proves that he is no longer a Muslim. Al’allamah Ash-Shaikh Muhammad Anuar Al-Kashmiri in his book “Ikfarul Mulhidin” stated that Ghulam Ahmad had made 77 statements, which leads to him being kafir.

    The most important statement of all, which forms the basis that Ghulam Ahmad and his followers are kafir, is his declaration that he is the next Prophet and Messenger after Prophet Muhammad p.b.u.h..

    This clearly transgresses the teachings of the Qur’an, the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad and the consensus (ijma’) of the ulama’. This is supported by the fatwa given by the Mufti of Johor which is found in his book “Anwarul Qur’an Al-Mahiyati Lizulumatimutanabbien Qadiyan” (Volume 3, pages 1- 4). Based on the beliefs of the Qadiyan as explained above, it is concluded that the Qadiyan (Ahmadiyah) and those who are similar to them are not Muslims and are deviant. This is in line with the fatwas issued by all other Islamic countries, that the Ahmadiyah Qadiyan are not considered to be within the folds of Islam. The bodies of their dead cannot be buried in Muslim burial grounds.

     

    Fatwa decided by the Fatwa Committee of MUIS on 23 June 1969. Fatwa text appeared in Kumpulan Fatwa 1 published by Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura, 1st ed. 1987.
