  • Permohonan Maaf Najip Ali Ditolak, Masih Ada Yang Belum Mintak Maaf – Zed Zaidi

Permohonan Maaf Najip Ali Ditolak, Masih Ada Yang Belum Mintak Maaf – Zed Zaidi

– Sinar Harian

  • Imam Visits Synagogue To Apologise For Offensive Remarks

Imam Visits Synagogue To Apologise For Offensive Remarks

Imam Nalla Mohamed Abdul Jameel, 47, extended his unconditional apology for his offensive remarks and acknowledged that he must bear full responsibility for his actions.

The visit came two days after he apologised at a gathering of leaders of various faiths.

Yesterday, the imam also presented Rabbi Mordechai Abergel with a copy of the open statement of apology that he had delivered last Friday at the Harmony in Diversity Gallery in Maxwell Road.

On behalf of the Jewish community here, Rabbi Abergel accepted the imam’s apology at the Maghain Aboth Synagogue.

The rabbi said the Jewish and Muslim communities here have a “very harmonious” relationship, with strong bonds of friendship.

“This sends a message that these bonds are not affected, and we share so much more than what divides us,” he added.

In February, a video of the imam reciting a prayer in Arabic that said “God help us against Jews and Christians”, among other things, was circulated online.

The imam clarified last Friday that the additional supplication he read was not from the Quran, but an old Arabic text originating from his village in India.

Yesterday, Buddhist and Sikh leaders also joined in the synagogue visit.

At a separate community event in Marsiling yesterday, Speaker of Parliament Halimah Yacob said the imam’s apology is a “positive move” that should be taken into consideration.

“He apologised, he gathered together all the people from different faiths, and it was a great initiative on his part,” she said.

    REMORSE

Last Friday’s meeting, where the imam apologised before leaders of various faiths, including Christian leaders, was organised at his request.

He said he was “filled with great remorse for the inconvenience, tension and trauma that I have caused to this peaceful country”.

After the controversial remarks surfaced, Home Affairs and Law Minister K. Shanmugam said the Government will not tolerate preaching that encourages violence or seeks to pit one religion against another.

On Saturday, Mr Shanmugam said the police have completed their investigations on the matter and submitted a report to the Attorney-General’s Chambers, adding that a decision is expected within a few days.

The imam’s apology was welcomed by the Muslim community and leaders of other faiths, Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs Yaacob Ibrahim noted on Saturday.

Yesterday, Madam Halimah said of the imam’s apology: “He realised what he did was a mistake.

“He also realised that what he had lifted from his home town in India may not be so applicable here. Probably, he didn’t know, or quite understand, the context of Singapore society.”

She added: “We are multiracial, multi-religious, and you need to understand that is important.”

  • Apology And Undertaking To PM Lee Hsien Loong

Apology And Undertaking To PM Lee Hsien Loong

I, Roy Ngerng Yi Ling, republish this apology on my blog, in recognition of having published Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s Demand Letter to me, on my blog, which included links to the Article on my blog, links to the Article on my Facebook page and on The Heart Truths’ Facebook page, and links to the other websites as stated in Paragraph 11 of the Demand Letter. I have since removed the above-mentioned portions from the article where the Demand Letter can be found and have republished this apology on my blog again. As I had explained in court, I did not realise that there were links inside the Demand Letter which would lead to the Article, and the related links and republication. (The Article was published online from 15 May 2014 to 21 May 2014. The Demand Letter was published from 19 May 2014 henceforth.) It was never my intention to defame the Singapore Prime Minister and I hope that by voluntarily republishing this apology on my blog, that I can show my sincerity to the Singapore Prime Minister. Thank you.

1.On or around 15 May 2014, I, Roy Ngerng Yi Ling, published on my blog (at http://thehearttruths.com/), an article entitled“Where your CPF Money Is Going: Learning From The City Harvest Trial” (the “Article”). I also published links to the Article on my Facebook page (at https://www.facebook.com/sexiespider) and on The Heart Truths’ Facebook page (athttps://www.facebook.com/pages/I-want-the-government-and-people-to-work-together-for-Singapores-future/185331834935656).

2.I recognise that the Article means and is understood to mean that Mr Lee Hsien Loong, the Prime Minister of Singapore and Chairman of GIC, is guilty of criminal misappropriation of the monies paid by Singaporeans to the Central Provident Fund.

3.I admit and acknowledge that this allegation is false and completely without foundation.

4.I unreservedly apologise to Mr Lee Hsien Loong for the distress and embarrassment caused to him by this allegation.

5.I have removed the Article and the links to the Article and undertake not to make any further allegations to the same or similar effect.

  • Jover’s Chew Wife Urges Husband to Issue Public Apology

Jover’s Chew Wife Urges Husband to Issue Public Apology

Jover Chew’s wife, Ms Winnie Koh, 31, has been trying relentlessly to urge her husband to close down his shop and do a public apology.

Mobile Air owner Jover Chew has been the subject of intense internet scrutiny the past few days.

Jover Chew’s shop became infamous after two recent incidents — recently refunding a woman $1,010 in coins, which included one-cents and five-cents, and leaving a Vietnamese tourist in tears while kneeling and begging for a refund after buying an iPhone 6.

Like Jover, Ms Koh, 31, also runs a mobile phone business — J2 Mobile. As a result, Ms Koh was also at the receiving end of the public backlash.

However, she had earlier stated that her shop is not linked to Mobile Air.

According to Shin Min Daily News, Ms Koh expressed that Jover Chew has not been home for many days.

She hopes that he will reflect on his mistakes and start a new life by winding business.

    She said:

“I really hope my husband will come out and do a public apology, but I don’t know if he will.

“I really hope he can turn over a new leaf, because this time he has gone too far.”
