Gold Standard Service Comes With A Smile – SBS Bus Captain Ihsan Tomino

This is Ihsan Bin Tomino. He has been an SBS Transit bus driver for the past 3.5 years and THE BEST I have met.

From the time I boarded the bus to the time I alighted, he greeted every passenger with smiley enthusiasm.

As I observed the strange scene unfolding in front of my eyes, Cynicism spoke: Seriously? Is this guy for real?
I started to look around for a hidden camera or disguised candid camera crew.

Wait a minute! I stopped myself, ashamed of my thoughts.

I continued to watch some more. This guy is for real. He is definitely genuine about greeting his passengers when they enter his bus, reminds them to be careful and makes sure they are seated before driving off. He makes it a point to say ‘Thank you’ to everyone leaving the bus too. Most importantly, he is a darn good driver, smooth and careful when navigating bumps on the road and other road users. The more I watched, the broader my smile became.

It was my turn to alight from the bus and I felt I needed to let him know the difference he has made. I asked him if I could take a photo of him. He immediately turned shy but said ok.

Me: “you must really love your job right?”
Ihsan: “Love every minute of it”

I am so glad I got to thank him and told him he has made my day. I am still smiling as I type this post.

You have a gem here SBS Transit, I hope you know it and recognize him duly. This is GOLD service standards.

Once again Ihsan, thank you for making my short bus ride one of the most memorable one I had.

Hijabi: Auntie Let Me Have Aircon Even Though Bus Was Hot

The other day, it was super hot, and I boarded a super crowded bus from the airport heading home.

Me and 2nd boy sat right at the back, left side of the bus. Beside me was a lady (not really sure what race) and it looked like she just got off from work.

She asked me, “the Aircon cold or not?”

I placed my fingers close to the Aircon vent to check. “OK la aunty. Quite cooling. Are you hot, I shift it for u?”

She replied “no no no. U take. I know u wear this ah (pointing to my Tudung) so u need more Aircon. U take u take. The bus at the back always very hot one.”

It was true. It was very warm. Plus the crowd made it warmer.

I shifted the vent to blow in her direction.

She just smiled at me : ))

We need more of her please

  • Woman Calls Police After Bus Passenger Films Her For Not Moving When Told She Was Occupying 2 Seats

Woman Calls Police After Bus Passenger Films Her For Not Moving When Told She Was Occupying 2 Seats

Stomper Arhchun was irked when he asked to sit a woman to remove her bag so he could sit down — only to be faced with protests.

Furious that the aunty refused to do so, he took out his phone to film her. She, in turn, retaliated by allegedly calling the police.

According to the video, this incident occurred yesterday (Sep 22) 8.52am at Balestier, on board Bus 124.

    Archun wrote:

“Exposing the ugly behaviour of a selfish aunty, who refused to share the double seats on a crowded bus, and called the police shamelessly for her mistakes.”

In the clip, the woman can be seen talking to what is assumed to be the police, who then persuades her to seek the bus driver’s help or alight the bus.

  • Inconsiderate Uncle Refused To Give Up Seat To Stroke Patient

Inconsiderate Uncle Refused To Give Up Seat To Stroke Patient

I had like to share an incident to everyone that my mom had encountered on 27th August 2015 Thursday 1509hrs travelling on bus number 60 (SBS8831S) from Bedok Interchange to Bedok Reservoir Road.

This uncle who is in his 60s who was very inconsiderate when my mom was asking him to move his packet of toilet roll for her to sit down. The Uncle insist NO and said that his items should not be on the ground.

My mom was a partial stroke patient and had to use a walking stick to help balance herself when she walks. I’m glad that a lady who witness the incident then gave up her seat to my mom.

It’s very sad to see such inconsiderate people in our society. I do hope to spread and share about this uncle so that this article will reach him one day.

Chan Chun Sing: Privileged To Serve With Lui Tuck Yew

Tuck Yew’s contributions will be sorely missed by the team. He has been a stalwart in steering us through very challenging circumstances in the transport sector. I have the opportunity to see his dedication and meticulousness first hand, and it was a privilege to learn from Tuck Yew. His commitment to make things better has never failed to impress me.

During his time in the transport ministry, he has put in place plans that will not only manage today’s challenges but also tomorrow’s demands.

We are also thankful for Tuck Yew’s care and concern for the transport sector workers. He always had the interests of our workers in his heart as he tackled the many challenges in the transport sector.

Thankful for Tuck Yew’s contributions and we wish him and his family all the best.
