Taxi Driver Parked Car Without Consideration For Others, Blocked Path Of Makcik In Wheelchair

Local celebrity author Zai Miztiq was so miffed by an inconsiderate taxi driver that she had to make a video to give attention to the situation.

The driver was already parking illegally on double yellow lines and made it worse by blocking a wheelchair-access ramp. The drivers inconsiderate action made it difficult for Zai’s wheelchair-bound mother to get into a waiting car.

A reminder to all drivers, the road does not belong to you. If you have to park illegally, park illegally in an inconsiderate manner.

  • Taxi Hero Saved Me And My Infant From The Heavy Rain, Gave Us His Own Umbrella

Taxi Hero Saved Me And My Infant From The Heavy Rain, Gave Us His Own Umbrella

I was on my way to send Josh to his infantcare when it suddenly started to pour; I didn’t bring an umbrella.

Even though I was about 10m away from the bus stop, the rain was too heavy for me to run back.

So I squatted down next to Josh, poor boy getting drenched in his stroller, the both of us stranded under the overhead bridge, soaking up rainwater by the minute, while passersby with umbrellas rushed by.

Then I see this taxi, stopping along Pei Wah Ave, and the uncle coming out of the driver seat to grab an umbrella from his back seat, while it was still pouring.

And then, he ran about 15m from his taxi towards me in the rain, handed me the umbrella, smiled and said, “Keep it!”

I was so shocked at his kindness and all I could muster was a mere, “Thank you,” before he ran back to his taxi, all drenched in the downpour himself. OMG.

Just wanted to share this, cos this taxi uncle is really a champ. While my social feed is usually peppered with anecdotes of nasty people doing mean things to others, this uncle really stands out and deserves a medal.

Really thanks to him, my 14-month Joshie and my 5-month baby bump were saved from being utterly soaked in the rain. Cos this hero decided it was more worthwhile to get himself drenched than to have a pregnant stranger and her child get wet.

How many people would actually stop what they’re doing, to help someone in need? More so, to needlessly get drenched in the rain, just to help someone they don’t even know? And to do it with such class, just simply rushing off, leaving me without even a glass slipper to find him? Thankfully I squinted hard enough to spy his car plate number, SH9260P! And so, I hope to find his contact if possible, cos I’ve also written in to Comfort!

So all the talk about being selfless, Mr Super Uncle of Comfort SH9260P driving along Pei Wah Ave this morning at 10am, you’re da man! Sorry I only managed to take a blur photo as he drove away so quickly. He clearly did it out of the goodness of his heart and not expecting anything in return.

But he deserves much more credit!

  • Comfort Cabby Mocks Androgynous Man, Operator Apologises

Comfort Cabby Mocks Androgynous Man, Operator Apologises

This is what you do when you witness something disturbing — alert the authorities and write a formal complaint.

That is what actor and stuntman Hanz Monefiero Medina did when he was harassed by a Comfort taxi driver last Friday.

You might know Medina from a certain perfurmery on Arab Street (he is a perfume maker by day). “I am a man who happens to look androgynous and have my long wet hair out and I am not a transgender nor a transvestite,” he explains.

On his way to an afternoon martial arts class, he hailed a taxicab on Owen Street. The driver, upon seeing him, stopped his vehicle and made an offensive gesture (“a joke usually made on transvestites”) — a limp hand which he rocked back and forth.

    And it didn’t stop there.

“The Indian man drove away but, to my surprise, he made a U-turn further down at Owen Road and passed me again,” recalls Medina. The driver mocked him again.

In his complaint letter to Comfort, Medina wrote: “I felt really disturbed. No one should go through this on how someone looks or even if someone is whoever they are as a person. This is a mental disease and outright bullying. I hope this man will be warned for judging potential customers in the future or I will bring this to the social media and make it viral to good journalist sources that I have.”

An executive from Comfort Delgro replied this afternoon with an apology and assurance “that we have spoken to this driver, and rebuked him for his disgraceful actions towards you on that afternoon…We have also issued him an official warning for failing to pick up a passenger despite his taxi being available for hire, which will now be filed in his performance record. Going forward, we will now monitor him closely and any similar transgressions committed by him can result in the termination of his hiring contract with us.”

  • Rude Taxi Passenger Exposed

    Rude Taxi Passenger Exposed

    Dear All Singapore Stuff,

By now many Singaporeans already watched or listened to the video of a cab passenger’s extremely rude conversation with a taxi driver who was just doing his job.

The passenger was clearly out of line and did not treat the taxi driver as a human being. He treated him like dirt and talked to him as though the driver was his slave.

According to astute netizens on a popular online forum, they quickly CSI-ed out the rude passenger’s identity and quickly exposed his face online.

This super obnoxious passenger is called Jerrel Phua. He is a professional nurse with an attitude problem. Based on his speech in the video, he obviously has an ego problem and talks down to people around him.

Perhaps he should look himself in the mirror and do something for himself rather than take his anger out on others. I hope he learns to have more respect for others and change his attitude for the better. His behaviour is very unbecoming of a career nurse.

Editor’s Note: We hope that this man will learn from this mistake and sincerely apologise to the taxi driver for his bad attitude and behaviour. As you can see, in the short time since the video of his actions went viral, contributors have stepped up to expose his identity. Goes to show how well-liked he is as a person. We hope he will change for the better after this episode and give others their due respect.
