72-Year-Old Ferrari Driver Found Guilty Of Punching Face Of BMW Driver

A district court has found Ferrari driver Shi Ka Yee, 72, guilty of assaulting a fellow motorist in 2014.

Following a two-day trial, District Judge Chay Yuen Fatt convicted her on Thursday (Aug 17) of hurting Mr Raphael Chong Yen Ping by punching his face along Telok Ayer Street at around 5pm on Feb 25, 2014.

He suffered a cut above his right eyebrow.

On the first day of the trial on June 5, this year, Mr Chong, 39, testified that he was in his BMW and waiting for a parking space along the one-way road when Shi drove by in her red Ferrari.

Mr Chong said Shi started to shout and sounded her horn as she wanted him to move his car.

He told District Judge Chay that he stayed put as the road was wide enough for other vehicles to pass through easily.

He added that Shi became very upset and launched into “verbal diarrhoea” against him.

Mr Chong said she got out of her car to snap pictures of him, holding up traffic as there were other vehicles behind them.

He then told her: “Don’t know how to drive, don’t drive a Ferrari.”

Mr Chong said Shi then moved towards his car and punched him on the right side of his forehead through an open window.

The court heard that she was wearing rings on her fingers and the blow caused a cut on Mr Chong’s forehead. He called the police after she drove away.

An advertising agency executive director, Mr Stephen Choy Ying Whye, who also took the stand on June 5, said he was in another car nearby when he saw Shi stepping out of her car. When cross-examined by Shi’s lawyer, Mr Irving Choh, Mr Choy also testified that Mr Chong had not uttered any vulgarities to her.

Shi took the stand on June 29 and admitted that she had assaulted Mr Chong.

However, she said her behaviour was justified as he had abused her with vulgar language. She also testified that she had not punched, but slapped him.

She added: “I was very stunned, shocked and humiliated… He was not a respectable gentleman. My instinct was to give him a slap, (and) I did.”

She is now on bail. Her mitigation and sentencing will be held at a later date.

Besides causing hurt, Shi has six other charges against her which will be dealt with at a later date.

She was in the news last year over a case involving a rain tree on her Astrid Hill property, near Holland Road. Its branches were encroaching into her neighbour’s front yard and the judge ordered her to trim them and pay the neighbour damages.

Four of the charges against her that have been stood down for now relate to the Astrid Hill rain tree incident, including one count each of criminal trespass and committing a rash act.

The other two charges relate to an incident on June 29 last year, when Shi allegedly stopped her car between the third and fourth lanes of Orchard Road, just after the Claymore Road junction, causing an obstruction there.

Offenders convicted of assault can be jailed up to two years and fined up to $5,000.

AST Ah Beng Want To Whack People In Yishun Cinema

Spotted this AH Beng gangster on social media calling out someone and want to whack him in Yishun cinema. They got into a quarrel after the gangster block the screen and the other person call him an a**hole then he said he is AST (ang soon tong) and want to call people whack him.

As an old timer who was once active, I think young gangsters these days need to learn to be more standard. Firstly, no need to declare your gang. Just ask him where he’s from. If same gang can talk. If different gang just whack. Need to call people and bring metal pole? That’s why I say no standard.

And I see other examples of no standard gangsters. If u want to shout gang cheer don’t so stupid put on youtube. wah lau. really stupid. Fight also put on FB. Knn. Pui. These days gangsters really no standard.

Questioned By Policemen, Armed, Tattooed Men Turned Violent On Policemen

About 10 tattooed men were interrogated by policemen in the Outram Park area.

According to Shin Min Daily News, knives were found when the police searched them and the men turned violent. Nine police cars arrived at the scene and three men were arrested.

This happened on Sep 26, 8am, just outside Block 5 Jalan Minyak’s coffeeshop.

Mr Tan, a 61-year-old resident of the area, recalled the 10 men sitting at a round table while being completely surrounded by cops.

Eyewitnesses told the Shin Min news reporters that one muscled bald man was pinned onto the table by cops when he resisted arrest.

Four to five policemen then cuffed his hands behind his back and pressed his chest to the round table. They then searched him and brought him away.

According to the Chinese newspaper, about 10 men and 1 woman from the age of 20 to 40 were questioned by the police. Most of them were tattooed, and one of them had tattoos all over his face.

A resident, 57-year-old housewife Madam Zhen, recognised some of them to be her neighbours.

The police confirmed that they received a tip-off at 8.21am that morning, and after conducting a search on a group of men, three of them possessed dangerous weapons like knives.

The men also provided fake documents and turned violent on the cops.

    Police investigations are ongoing.

  • S Iswaran: Exercise Restraint And Let Due Process Take Its Course

S Iswaran: Exercise Restraint And Let Due Process Take Its Course

SINGAPORE – Some individuals have “gone too far” in their reactions against the unethical practices of the errant retailer at Sim Lim Square, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office S Iswaran today (Nov 8), as he said that police have begun looking into reports on the case, as well as a related report on harassment.

In a Facebook post today (Nov 8), Mr Iswaran, who is also Second Minister for Home Affairs & Trade and Industry, spoke up about the recent incident at Sim Lim Square. He urged people to “exercise restraint” and not to take matters into their own hands. “Let due process take its course,” he wrote.

Mr Jover Chew, owner of the shop Mobile Air at Sim Lim Square, was in the spotlight recently following reports of Vietnamese tourist Pham Van Thoai going on his knees to beg for his money back, and that the shop refunded a customer more than S$1,000 in coins.

On Thursday, a T-shirt printed with an expletive was placed outside his shop, which was closed. Mr Chew’s particulars, which were leaked online, were also reportedly used to order three large pizzas to his home on Wednesday. His private photos were also leaked.

Mr Iswaran said that the Government is looking into measures to protect consumers better but this may “take some time”, especially if the laws require amending.

“More immediately, we are working with CASE and other stakeholders to educate consumers on their rights, so that they do not fall prey to such sales tactics, and know where and how to seek recourse when necessary,” he added.

Member of Parliament Vikram Nair also wrote on Facebook today of his interest in looking into Singapore’s consumer protection laws. Referring to an article by TODAY, he singled out the suggestion by a lawyer to give the Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE) additional powers to administer fines to errant businesses.

“Although it is highly unusual to give a consumer association such powers, I believe the public expects CASE to not only be a consumer advocate, but also to intervene more directly in cases where consumers,” he wrote.
