  • Town Council’s Default Bill Of $1688

Town Council’s Default Bill Of $1688

It’s really crazy to live in Singapore if you’re poor.

    ***

Was shocked to chance upon this town council’s default bill of $1688 of which the penalty fee is $249 and legal charges a massive $721. The total penalty and legal fee is $970 – much more than the actual town council owed fee of $718 dating from Aug 2015 to Apr 2017. One can’t imagine the government allows a needy Singaporean family to be fleeced off by so much legal cost when their last GE’s slogan is “For you, with you…”?

The family stays in a 3-room flat and suffers from under-employment. To avoid jail sentences for owed town council bill, the family has been slowly paying them off whenever they have the money. They also have to show the receipts to the town council whenever they have made payment. We also know of some who have to go to jail because of accumulated town council default – after the jail sentence they still have to pay their bill! Its a shame to see so many of our poor vulnerable families living like this – struggling to pay bills of all kinds while living in the world’s costliest city (for expats only as claimed by the government).

The proposed sugar tax will simply add on to their living cost and deepen their misery. The recent 30% hike in water cost, existing 7% GST and a whole slew of increases for basic living usage imposed early this year will simply drive one to depression by just looking at the bills. Many in fact have avoided opening the bills every month and just throw them in some forgotten corner hoping that they will just evaporate into the thin air magically. Its no wonder many of us can’t avoid to go cashless the right way as we are already very cash-less before we hit the month end.

  • Gilbert Goh: Send Strong Signal To Government, Spoil Your Vote

Gilbert Goh: Send Strong Signal To Government, Spoil Your Vote

Once again, we reiterate our call for Singaporeans who are against this racist Presidential Election to spoil their votes.

We believe in a meritocratic election whereby the best most-suitable candidate stands for election and let the people decide who is going to be their next President than letting race gets in the way.

Singaporeans are fed up with our government who tried to lie to the people about taking care of the needs of the minority race by introducing a Reserved PE when in fact the main goal is to deter a unpreferred candidate from standing for the election.

Its a known fact that Dr Tan Cheng Bock will lose in the forthcoming court appeal and Halimah – a Indian-Muslim will be the PAP’s preferred choice candidate.

During last PE, 1.76% of the electorate spoilt their votes amounting to 37,000 voters. A spoilt vote is a legitimate vote of protest and it is not against the law.

The Presidential Election is unlike that of a general election whereby much is at stake. The President has only custodial power and can’t intervene in the governance of the country. His main aim is to safeguard the billions of reserves we have in the country’s coffers.

Its also a known fact that Halimah will win heavily due to her long-standing popularity with decades of strong grassroot experience having helmed the labour movement as the second in command.

Even if all the opposition voters vote otherwise, she will still win heavily as most PAP supporters will root for her.

Why not take this opportunity to unite together and spoil your vote to send a strong signal to the government that we are against this racist PE?

We would rather that the government appoint our future President and do away with any PE as its wasting everybody’s time and the country’s resources.

A strong spoil-vote PE will definitely send the right signal to the government not to meddle anymore with our constitution and stop abusing their power!

Gilbert Goh: Parliamentary Debate On Oxley Road House Is A Circus

We probably will hear a one-sided account tomorrow in Parliament by the Prime Minister as LYH and LWL alluded.

94% of Singaporeans polled also suggested that Parliament is not the right place to discuss a domestic spat that involves three siblings.

Its a international disgrace and truly we have more urgent things to talk about nationally than the familee home.

  • Good Samaritans Help Malay Family Who Now Don’t Have To Be Homeless For Hari Raya

Good Samaritans Help Malay Family Who Now Don’t Have To Be Homeless For Hari Raya

Thanks to Good Samaritans, the HDB default rent of $414 was completely paid since last night when we broke the appeal for funds so that a Malay family staying at Yishun rental flat won’t be evicted during Hari Raya.

Good job Singaporeans! And shame on you HDB!

Poor People’s Campaign – a ground-up community initiative to improve the living condition of the poor among us.

A Muslim couple may have to spend their Hari Raya homeless as HDB will evict them by 30th June if they can’t pay the rental default of $414 or 3 months’ rental.

The husband is a pest controller – he has two sons and a wife who looks after the kids.

His salary is only $1000 before CPF deduction.

There are other outstanding bills eg SP and S & C but the rental one seems more important as it means having a important roof over their head.

If you can help out with any amount, please pay it at any AXS machine with the account number taken from the post: 2810-0792-6-14

Don’t let them celebrate Hari Raya homeless!

  • Elderly Man Collects And Flattens Tin Cans To Make Ends Meet

Elderly Man Collects And Flattens Tin Cans To Make Ends Meet

Saw this elderly flattening tin cans along the road side where our $100,000 gleaming cars drove by at West Mall junction near Bukit Batok.

Each can sells for about 8 to 10 cents and its far better than gathering heavy bulky cardboards whereby each kilo sells only for 10 cents.

In our first world country with almost zero pension scheme for the elderly, its a nightmare retiring here.

Those who fell ill often felt guilty chalking up a bill at the hospital and many wish they are dead than burdening their own stressed-up children.
