  • Macpherson RC Apologises For Charging New Citizens Less Than Singaporeans, For Community Event

Macpherson RC Apologises For Charging New Citizens Less Than Singaporeans, For Community Event

A Residents’ Committee (RC) in MacPherson constituency that drew flak from residents for charging Singaporeans three times more than “new citizens” for tickets to a community event has apologised and offered refunds to all who attended the event.

The RC charged citizens $3 and new citizens $1 for an open house held last Sunday (30 July).

The move also left MacPherson’s Member of Parliament Tin Pei Ling “very upset”.

A statement posted on the MacPherson RC Zone B page on Thursday (3 Aug) said the move had no “ill intent” and recognised that it was an “unwise decision”. It explained, “We thought that a lower ticket price will encourage more new citizens to come forward. In doing so, we have neglected the feelings of the majority of our residents. It was a once-off decision by our committee to charge differently and definitely not a policy of the MacPherson grassroots.”

It added, “As fellow residents, we have never harboured any intent of discriminating fellow citizens.”

Tin said the mistake “should not have happened”. Referring to the incident, she wrote on Facebook, “We have counseled the RC and tightened the internal vetting process. The RC had no ill intention but still, it was a mistake that should not have happened.”

Police Currently Investigating Xinmin Primary School “Beginning” Teacher

Remember the video about the man who got caught taking an upskirt video of a lady on the mrt? He is actually found to be Mr David James Chua a teacher at Xinmin Primary School with the help of internet savvy individuals. A representative from the school Mr Clement Lee has confirmed that David is the man caught on video and that he is also a “beginning teacher” at the said school.

If you didn’t know, the 2 minutes plus clip shows a man using his mobile phone on board a train and later placing the phone – with the camera facing up – at one end of his duffel bag. He then lowers the bag and briefly moves it close to the legs of a woman in a skirt standing behind him.

The incident happened along the Circle Line from MacPherson station to Paya Lebar station. A police report has been lodged and investigations are ongoing.  PE teacher is also currently on leave from school.

Ape nak jadi ni siol? And now most people will have this question in their minds.. can we  trust the teachers to guide our children in schools?

  • Tin Pei Ling To Stop Being Full-Time MP

Tin Pei Ling To Stop Being Full-Time MP

Come May 2017, I will start to work for a Singapore enterprise – Jing King Tech Group. This opportunity is an exciting one. This proudly-Singaporean enterprise is firmly positioned in the innovation and FinTech space. The bosses are also passionate Singaporeans who care deeply about Singapore and our local community.

Even as I embark on this new appointment, I will remain committed to MacPherson and our residents. My position with the company will offer job flexibility for me to fully discharge my MP responsibilities. I will continue with my weekly engagements, including MPS, block visits and grassroots events as before. I will also continue to oversee ongoing & upcoming community projects and programmes.

Over the past 6 years, our volunteer team has grown, even as our systems and service processes have been strengthened. Together, my team and I will strive to serve residents in MacPherson to the best of our abilities.

I have spoken with some residents about this, and they have given me much encouragement, for which I am grateful. I will certainly give my best to MacPherson and my residents, and I look forward to your continued support.
