  • PM Najib Confirms Flight MH370 Ended in Southern Indian Ocean

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Udqk-m4F1EU

At 10pm Singapore time on Monday, March 24, 2014, Malaysia Prime Minister Najib Razak said that based on data on the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, it was assumed that the plane crashed in the southern Indian Ocean. Here is the text of Mr Najib’s press conference in full:

“This evening I was briefed by representatives from the UK Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB). They informed me that Inmarsat, the UK company that provided the satellite data which indicated the northern and southern corridors, has been performing further calculations on the data. Using a type of analysis never before used in an investigation of this sort, they have been able to shed more light on MH370’s flight path.

Based on their new analysis, Inmarsat and the AAIB have concluded that MH370 flew along the southern corridor, and that its last position was in the middle of the Indian Ocean, west of Perth.

This is a remote location, far from any possible landing sites. It is therefore with deep sadness and regret that I must inform you that, according to this new data, flight MH370 ended in the southern Indian Ocean.

We will be holding a press conference tomorrow with further details. In the meantime, we wanted to inform you of this new development at the earliest opportunity. We share this information out of a commitment to openness and respect for the families, two principles which have guided this investigation.

Malaysia Airlines have already spoken to the families of the passengers and crew to inform them of this development. For them, the past few weeks have been heartbreaking; I know this news must be harder still. I urge the media to respect their privacy, and to allow them the space they need at this difficult time.”

Erin atau nama sebenar Mohd Khairiri Ramli akui kasih sayang antara punca berlaku kecelaruan identiti golongan berkenaan.

Last night, I was fortunate to have attended a talk by Cikgu Mohd Khairiri Hj Ramli, a Malaysian teacher who is now renowned for his efforts in helping former gays to reform and return back to the fold of Islam. A former gay himself, Khairiri shared how he developed inclinations towards the same sex at a relatively young age. He struggled with the conflict of gender identity for more than two decades of life; cross-dressing, wearing thick make-up, spending so much money on plastic surgery and, to cap it all, engaging in prostitution along the dark alleys of his own hometown.

It was only after experiencing a great calamity in his life that Khairiri decided that it was time to make a change. He was abused and beaten up by his gay partner until his nose broke. The mental effects of that violent episode persist till today and it did much to scar him permanently. He began to think about the many years of sinful life that he had led.  And yet, reforming himself to be a good Muslim was not easy.

  • Inseparable Twin Wants to Marry Same Husband, Dowry RM$4 Million

    twins-offer-themselves-in-fb-to-share-husband-for-a-rm4-million_1024x576_3

COMMENT: They say you can find anything for sale on the Internet these days, and apparently you can.

How would you like to be married to a pair of beautiful fraternal twins? That is if you are someone with RM4 million to spare. Well, apparently you can if one of the latest postings on Facebook is true.

There is a picture being spread on social media, supposedly of a 24-year-old pair of twins born two hours apart, looking for a rich suitor to take them both as wives at the same time.

“Both are willing to share the love (of a husband) as we do not want to be parted,” read the posting. The girls also added they are looking for a husband who is fair and with the means to care for both of them.

Of course the clincher is that the dowry they are demanding is a hefty of RM4 million.

It should be noted that theantdaily has been unable to verify the authenticity of this posting or trace the profile of the supposed twins.

But the matter reopens the debate of women being accused of “gold diggers” who use their beauty to snare potential wealthy husbands and alleged cases of beauties on sale to the right bidders.

Though such cases don’t mirror tales of human trafficking, where parents sell their daughters into marriage or worse the flesh trade, they do spark remembrance of beautiful artistes who marry into royalty or wealthy families, at times also termed “gold diggers”.

But this social media tale seems to make it look like it has become sundry for young ladies to aspire to such.

There are several things wrong with the supposed twins on offer. Firstly as both appear to be Malay Muslims, there is the question that a Muslim husband cannot be married to two sisters at once.

Per Islamic teachings, a Muslim man can marry his sister-in-law, but only after divorcing the sister who is currently his wife. But never two sisters at the same time.

Then again they could be East Malaysians or other races with Malay sounding names, which would preclude religious sanction to such a marriage, if their religion does not prohibit it.

Which brings us to the second issue — the RM4 million dowry demanded which makes it looks as if the beauties are selling themselves to whatever rich person out there.

It is worrisome, not only in the moral and religious sense, but for bachelors like me who do not have millions in my pocket, if looking for a wife will require such a price.

“The six, who died were locals, aged between 19 to 28, and were pronounced dead on the way to the University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) and the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre (PPUKM) early this morning,” he told a media conference here today.

The men who were in critical condition, including two foreigners were being treated in UMMC and PPUKM.

Two of them were Singaporeans and the third a local, aged between 19 to 27, he said.

“The six victims who died were believed to have taken the drug methamphetamine before going to the concert.

“The drug is known as ‘designer drug’ or synthetic drugs, which is called meth,” he said.

He added that autopsies conducted on the victims found that they had died from drug overdose.

Mohmad said the drugs were sold at between RM60 to RM100 a pill, depending on its contents.

  • Malaysia PM Najib Conducts Investigation on MH370 Crew, Possibility of Hijack

    e88fb1167bc2918fb186b0a65871bbd8 (1)

Najib’s full press statement on MH370

Seven days ago Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 disappeared. We realise this is an excruciating time for the families of those on board. No words can describe the pain they must be going through. Our thoughts and our prayers are with them.

I have been appraised of the on-going search operation round the clock. At the beginning of the operation, I ordered the search area to be broadened; I instructed the Malaysian authorities to share all relevant information freely and transparently with the wider investigation team; and I requested that our friends and allies join the operation.

As of today, 14 countries, 43 ships and 58 aircraft are involved in the search. I wish to thank all the governments for their help at such a crucial time.

Since day one, the Malaysian authorities have worked hand-in-hand with our international partners – including neighbouring countries, the aviation authorities and a multinational search force – many of whom have been here on the ground sinceSunday.

We have shared information in real time with authorities who have the necessary experience to interpret the data. We have been working non-stop to assist the investigation. And we have put our national security second to the search for the missing plane.

It is widely understood that this has been a situation without precedent.

We have conducted search operations over land, in the South China Sea, the Straits of Malacca, the Andaman Sea and the Indian Ocean. At every stage, we acted on the basis of verified information, and we followed every credible lead. Sometimes these leads have led nowhere.

There has been intense speculation. We understand the desperate need for information on behalf of the families and those watching around the world. But we have a responsibility to the investigation and the families to only release information that has been corroborated. And our primary motivation has always been to find the plane.

In the first phase of the search operation, we searched near MH370’s last known position, in the South China Sea. At the same time, it was brought to our attention by the Royal Malaysian Air Force that, based on their primary radar, an aircraft – the identity of which could not be confirmed – made a turn back. The primary radar data showed the aircraft proceeding on a flight path which took it to an area north of the Straits of Malacca.

Given this credible data, which was subsequently corroborated with the relevant international authorities, we expanded the area of search to include the Straits of Malacca and, later, to the Andaman Sea.

    New information

Early this morning I was briefed by the investigation team – which includes the FAA (Federation Aviation Administration), NTSB(National Transportation Safety Board), AAIB (Air Accidents Investigation Branch), the Malaysian authorities and the acting Minister of Transport – on new information that sheds further light on what happened to MH370.

Based on new satellite information, we can say with a high degree of certainty that the Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS) was disabled just before the aircraft reached the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia. Shortly afterwards, near the border between Malaysian and Vietnamese air traffic control, the aircraft’s transponder was switched off.

From this point onwards, the Royal Malaysian Air Force primary radar showed that an aircraft which was believed – but not confirmed – to be MH370 did indeed turn back.

It then flew in a westerly direction back over Peninsular Malaysia before turning northwest. Up until the point at which it left military primary radar coverage, these movements are consistent with deliberate action by someone on the plane.

Today, based on raw satellite data that was obtained from the satellite data service provider, we can confirm that the aircraft shown in the primary radar data was flight MH370. After much forensic work and deliberation, the FAA, NTSB, AAIB and the Malaysian authorities, working separately on the same data, concur.

According to the new data, the last confirmed communication between the plane and the satellite was at 8:11am Malaysian time on Saturday, March 8. The investigations team is making further calculations which will indicate how far the aircraft may have flown after this last point of contact. This will help us to refine the search.

Due to the type of satellite data, we are unable to confirm the precise location of the plane when it last made contact with the satellite.

However, based on this new data, the aviation authorities of Malaysia and their international counterparts have determined that the plane’s last communication with the satellite was in one of two possible corridors: a northern corridor stretching approximately from the border of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan to northern Thailand, or a southern corridor stretching approximately from Indonesia to the southern Indian ocean.

The investigation team is working to further refine the information.

Search in South China Sea suspended

In view of this latest development the Malaysian authorities have refocused their investigation into the crew and passengers on board.

Despite media reports that the plane was hijacked, I wish to be very clear: we are still investigating all possibilities as to what caused MH370 to deviate from its original flight path.

This new satellite information has a significant impact on the nature and scope of the search operation. We are ending our operations in the South China Sea and reassessing the redeployment of our assets. We are working with the relevant countries to request all information relevant to the search, including radar data.

As the two new corridors involve many countries, the relevant foreign embassies have been invited to a briefing on the new information today by the Malaysian Foreign Ministry and the technical experts.

I have also instructed the Foreign Ministry to provide a full briefing to foreign governments which had passengers on the plane. This morning, Malaysia Airlines has been informing the families of the passengers and crew of these new developments.

Clearly, the search for MH370 has entered a new phase. Over the last seven days, we have followed every lead and looked into every possibility.

For the families and friends of those involved, we hope this new information brings us one step closer to finding the plane.
