  • Singaporean Family Earns Ire Of Other Singaporeans For Supporting Pro-Settler Israeli NGO

Singaporean Family Earns Ire Of Other Singaporeans For Supporting Pro-Settler Israeli NGO

StandWithUs has been described as a “notorious right-wing pro-settler organization that works closely with the Israeli Foreign Ministry”.  The aim of the American not-for-profit is to enhance Israel’s image in the eyes of the world. The grassroots group concentrates on three main areas: Media Action for Israel, Call to Action for Israel and Educational Action for Israel.

A Singaporean Christian family has drawn the criticism of some for supporting StandWithUs. In a message to the pro-settler group, the Singaporean family said:

“As Singaporeans, we are thankful to Israel for the IDF’s help during our country’s infancy. Our military and our country are indebted to Israel. As Chinese with an ancient culture, we are inspired by the Jewish culture, which is of a similar vintage as ours. Chinese and Jews have much to learn from each other. As Christians, we are lovers of Israel and all its people; it is the birthplace of Christianity and central to the coming of HaMashiach. We remain contrite for anti-semitism in the Christian heritage and are committed to return to the Jewish roots of the faith. Today, we celebrate these things and our hearts are full. We stand with Israel, we stand with Jerusalem, now and always. Am Yisrael Chai!”

StandWithUs shared the Singaporean family’s picture in their Facebook and captioned it, “We LOVE our supporters of Israel from around the world! This week we received this message from a family in Singapore.”

Facebook user Shaffiq Haz who is from Singapore, in responding to the right wing group’s sharing of the picture said: “You guys do know . .. a large percentage of Palestinians are Christians . . .right . .. and they are similarly oppressed . . ”

Hidhir Arafat Ariana Aifa, another Facebook user from Singapore said: “Where does Israel stand in the map?? Obviously nothing… the biggest bully which call other place their country…shame on you.”

Other Facebook users from Singapore, like Mohd Jamil Mohd Said agreed that Israel was a bully. He said, “Zionist STEALS Palestinian land and kills innocent woman and children. Lets not forget that…!!!!”

The Singaporean family though got support from some others.Facebook user Magdalene Shane Lee said, “I am Singaporean, and I support Israel too. They are a secular nation among theocratic nations, as we are.”

  • Local Non-Muslim: Muslims Deserve Credit For Not Skiving During Ramadan, Bosses Must Be More Understanding

Local Non-Muslim: Muslims Deserve Credit For Not Skiving During Ramadan, Bosses Must Be More Understanding

Thanks to those muslim friends of mine during this fasting month still doing as much as us in the respective field of work….for people who knows me know that i seldom post on FB but i really cant stand it anymore…On behalf for those people who do not understand, this is a special mth to them. As a senior in the society and in the company why you cant simply exercise some flexibility and empathy on them.

My friend did not even ask to be release earlier from work all he or she does is ask to be release on time so that he or she can break fast together with their family..furthermore to that he or she had done his or her due diligence in their work, whats left was just the job for the relevant parties and you on purpose knowing that its time to release them so that they can break fast on time but you for no apparant reason decide to make them stay back to do NOTHING after their working hours.

On top of that you have other non-muslim support staff ready to stay behind to help out. Why cant u just release them ON TIME?

Is that how a senior in both the society and company should be acting? Or literally u r just plain cruel?

For thoses who knows my company you all should know that it should not be the way.

Still thanks to all of you muslim friends out there

    Care to share

  • Malay Pakcik Tearful, Thankful To Compassionate Chinese BMW Driver Who Did Not Pursue Any Damages

Malay Pakcik Tearful, Thankful To Compassionate Chinese BMW Driver Who Did Not Pursue Any Damages

Met with an accident today, rear ended by a Malay uncle driving a van at a slip-road.

He came out of the vehicle extremely apologetic, kept shaking his head saying he will be responsible for the damage. As I was reassuring him the damage is not significant, he told me it is to him, especially since it’s during the Ramadan period and Hari Raya is coming up.

    I choked.

I told him to use the money meant for the repair and put it to good use. Bring his family for a nice meal etc.

He cried and hugged me, kept asking if I am for real. He said he is heading to the mosque for night prayers and asked for my name, promising to pray for me. Pretty much lost for words.

Happy holidays my Muslim friends. I can sleep better tonight.

  • Government Will Protect Everyone From Threat Of Violence

Government Will Protect Everyone From Threat Of Violence

The Government will protect its people against any threat of violence, regardless of their race, religion or sexual orientation, Minister for Home Affairs and Law K. Shanmugam said yesterday.

“Violence against any group, in any form, is not acceptable. Here, the Government will act decisively if there is threat of violence against anyone or any group,” Mr Shanmugam said before the iftar (breaking of fast) at the Khadijah Mosque in Geylang yesterday.

“The Government’s duty is to protect everyone – their race, their religion, their sexual orientation, that’s not relevant.”

His comments came in the wake of a massacre at a gay nightclub in Florida on Sunday, when gunman Omar Mateen mowed down 49 people and injured another 53, in the deadliest mass shooting in modern US history.

Investigators are examining whether Omar was driven to violence as a deeply disturbed individual who was himself gay or because of extremist ideology. “But it looks like the gay community has been targeted. This is unacceptable,” Mr Shanmugam told reporters.

The kind of threat posed by lone- wolf individuals who are inspired but not directed by known extremist groups is “a significant risk” for Singapore as well, he said, noting that the Government had arrested “people who have self-radicalised, had intended to go to the Istana open house and do violence” to the President and Prime Minister.

In another case of home-grown terrorism, six Bangladeshis were charged last month with financing terrorism after they were detained under the Internal Security Act (ISA) for planning attacks back home.

Mr Shanmugam said education is key in inoculating the population against radicalisation but it is not foolproof. Communities also have to come together and families have to be on the lookout for suggestions or evidence of radicalisation, while security agencies stay on high alert.

Under the ISA, the Government can move in and arrest an individual who has been identified before he can do harm, he said.

But these measures do not guarantee that Singapore will not be attacked, as terrorists often blend into the community. “There are threats in a variety of forms. Thankfully, our population is a cross of many races, and we are not infected by extremism to any substantial degree,” said Mr Shanmugam.

Yesterday, thousands of people in cities throughout the United States and Europe stood in solidarity to remember those who had died. In Singapore, some 700 people attended a candlelight vigil in Hong Lim Park.

Mr Shanmugam stressed the importance of the national SG Secure initiative in organising and training residents to guard against attacks, and maintain social harmony in the aftermath. The Muslim community has an important role in combating radical ideology as well, he said.

Said Dr Mohamed Ali, vice-chairman of the Religious Rehabilitation Group: “Religious and community leaders have a strong influence over the followers of their religion. They need to convey these messages to their communities, to reject extremism and ISIS (Islamic State in Iraq and Syria).”

  • Video ‘Viral’ Wanita Rebah Semasa Terawih Meninggal Dunia Di Masjid Darul Aman, Tidak Benar

Video ‘Viral’ Wanita Rebah Semasa Terawih Meninggal Dunia Di Masjid Darul Aman, Tidak Benar

Posted by DAily TRaffic REport on Thursday, 9 June 2016
