    Malaysian Monster On Trial For Raping Own Daughter

    A Malaysian man is alleged to have sodomised and raped his 15-year-old daughter more than 200 times from January to March this year.

    According to The Star, it took the court several hours yesterday (Aug 9) to read out the 182 charges against the unit trust agent who pleaded not guilty to them all but “hung his head low”.

    Over 400 more charges involving sodomy are to be read out to the 36-year-old man today (Aug 10).

    He divorced his wife two years ago and has custody of his eldest daughter whom he is accused of sexually assaulting.

    His two younger daughters are staying with their mother.

    He allegedly sodomised the girl three times a day at their home in Sungai Way, Petaling Jaya since she was 13.

    The Star reports that he was accused under Section 377C of the Penal Code which provides a maximum of 20 years’ of imprisonment and shall also be liable to whipping, upon conviction.

    The man also faces a charge of committing incest on July 21 at 2pm and is accused under Section 376A of the same Code and punishable under Section 376B(1) of the Code.

    The divorcee was also accused of 30 counts of physical sexual assault without intercourse from July 11 to 20 and was charged under Section 14/16 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.

    He also faces a charge of abusing, neglecting and sexually abusing the child between Jan 1 and July 21. The charge falls under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2016 and is punishable under Section 31(1)(b) of the Act.

    Bangladeshi MacRitchie Reservoir Rapist Jailed 17 Years, Gets 24 Rotan Strokes

    Bangladeshi construction worker Pramanik Liton was on Friday (May 19) sentenced to 17 years’ jail and 24 strokes of the cane for raping a hiker at MacRitchie Reservoir Park in 2015.

    Liton, 24, was convicted of four charges, including two counts of aggravated rape, one count of sexual assault by penetration and one count of abduction for illicit intercourse. Another two charges were taken into consideration. Prosecutors had sought a jail term of at least 20 years and 24 strokes.

    The construction worker had left his dormitory on the morning of Feb 8, 2015, armed with a 16cm-long knife and waited along the Lornie Trail for “easy prey”. When he spotted the victim walking alone, he approached her and struck up a conversation, pretending he needed directions.

    He asked the 40-year-old Chinese national to have sex with him, and when she refused, he pulled out the knife and used it against her. The court heard the woman lost consciousness at one point, when Liton covered her mouth and nose with one hand while pressing the knife to her neck with the other.

    He later raped her “so forcefully” that the woman screamed in pain, the prosecution said. Then Liton offered her S$50 to “buy medicine so she would not get pregnant”. DNA tests found his semen in the victim’s mouth and vagina and on her panties.

    “BIZARRE AND INCOMPREHENSIBLE” DEFENCE

    But Liton denied the charges, and on Thursday, insisted he did not touch the victim, much less rape her. He claimed then that he did not talk to her, but only made sounds.

    “I just tried to scare her and she died out of fear,” he said.

    “No woman should have to fear she may be abducted and raped at knifepoint while talking a walk in the park in broad daylight, most certainly not in Singapore,” Deputy Public Prosecutor Stella Tan said then.

    In finding Liton guilty as charged, Justice Choo Han Teck called his defence “bizarre and incomprehensible”. “First, it was an outright denial, which against the weight of the evidence seems to be a defence of desperation.

    “Secondly, you claimed the victim had died. Clearly she had not, or this would have been the world’s first supernatural trial. I see nothing supernatural, only a traumatised woman who has convinced me you had committed the offences upon which you are being tried,” he said.

    Justice Choo added the victim’s evidence was “clear, cogent and consistent” and supported by the forensic evidence and Liton’s own early statements to the police, which, at trial, he denied ever making.

    When asked whether he had anything to say after he had been convicted, Liton said he had “made a mistake that I did not plead guilty in the first place. And also did not engage a lawyer (sic)”. He pleaded to be given the “minimum sentence”.

    Don’t Misuse Prophet Muhammad’s Name To Justify Rape And Marriage, Ex-mufti Says

    Islam does not suggest that it is OK to have sex and then marry minors, the former mufti of Terengganu said today.

    At a public forum on child marriages here, Datuk Ismail Yahya chided Muslims who have been misusing the name of their last prophet, Muhammad, to justify their lust and as a form of “escapism”.

    “That is not right. The religion does not suggest that,” said Ismail who is also a former Terengganu Shariah court judge.

    He noted there were Muslims who had cited Prophet Muhammad’s marriage to Aisha, often portrayed as a nine-year old girl in the Quran, but said there have been many Islamic scholars who have questioned the calculation of her age.

    He then said there were other considerations for a Shariah judge before approving marriage applications to minors.

    “To me, how far the marriage can make the child happy is subjective. It’s to do with how she is treated and nafkah,” he said, using an Arabic word meaning subsistence for living.

    “But, just because he has raped the girl, that is not a reason for a Shariah Court judge to approve the marriage application,” he added.

    Ismail warned those seeking to legitimise statutory rape and marriage with their victims behind the cloak of religion that Islam had dire penalties for rapists.

    “For men like these, according to Islamic laws, it is the death penalty. Death by stoning. Not marriage.

    “So if we want to apply the law, we apply it together and not in parts,” he said.

    Also at the same forum was Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) Youth leader Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman who said he shared the same view.

    “To the majority of Malay Muslims out there, you are not Prophet Muhammad. Stop pretending you are Prophet Muhammad,” the former national debater said to applause from the audience.

    Syed Saddiq urged religious leaders and those who propagate the idea of a moderate Islam to speak out against child marriages.

    “As of now, there is no legitimate religious voice to speak up against child marriages,” he said, claiming this to be the reason why many Muslims were afraid to voice their opinions.

    Both Ismail and Syed Saddiq were speaking at the forum titled “Child marriage: Setting our children up to fail”.

    The subject had sparked a national uproar last month after the Umno MP for Tasek Gelugor Datuk Shabudin Yahaya suggested in Parliament that marriage might be a solution for statutory rape.

    The conflicts related to the racially and religiously charged gubernatorial election in Jakarta have hit a new low when a supporter of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) claimed in a Facebook comment that it is Halal to gang rape female Ahok supporters.

    “Those who support Ahok are idiots and immoral.. it is halal to spill their blood and it is also halal if women are gang raped,” he stated in his comment.


    Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama, the Christian and ethnically Chinese governor of Jakarta who is currently contesting to be re-elected, had earned a lot of praise for his exceptional commitment for clean government and against corruption.

    According to FPI, however, it is not permissible in Islam that a non-Muslim governs a city mostly inhabited by Muslims.

    After black campaigns, violent protests and threats coming from Ahok’s opponents, the level of extremism has now crossed the line for many Indonesians.

    Ita Fadia Nadya, a member of Indonesian Women Against Violence, said that her group filed a police report against the Facebook user for hate speech, as defined by Article 156 of the Criminal Code Procedure Law (KUHP), Jakarta Globe reported.

    “We want to raise concerns about the safety of women in general. We aren’t talking about the upcoming gubernatorial election in Jakarta; our focus is purely on safety,” she told reporters at the Jakarta Police headquarters.

    According to her, the threat is especially harmful for women and compromises their safety.

    The FPI supporter with the Facebook username Dwi Ardika’s distasteful comment also reminded many Indonesians about the gang rapes that occurred during the anti-Chinese riots in 1998.

    “Before the massive gang rapes that occurred in 1998, there were sentiments and threats expressed [similar to this Facebook post].

    “In that period, there was no social media. Instead, threats were disseminated through posters targeting drivers of taxis and other forms of public transportation. We don’t want to see the actions of that year being repeated,” she said.

    The Jakarta riots in May 1998 saw 1,000 people killed and 87 women, mostly of Chinese descent, raped by rioters and rape squads, allegedly led by the army.

    Malaysian MP: Rape Victims Can Have Good Life If They Marry Their Rapists

    KUALA LUMPUR: Rape victims can have an opportunity to lead a healthy and good life if they marry their rapists, Tasek Gelugor Member of Parliament Datuk Shabudin Yahya told the Dewan Rakyat today.

    According to him, girls aged between nine to 12 years old are “physically and spiritually” ready for marriage.

    “They reach puberty at the age of nine or 12 and at that time, the physical state of their body is already akin to those 18 years of age.

    “For a wife who was raped, if she can marry (the rapist) she would not go through such a bleak future.

    “At least she has someone who can become her husband. So, this will be a remedy to social problems,” he said while debating the Child Sexual Offences Bill here today.

    He said this when objecting an amendment to the bill which was proposed by DAP’s Kulai MP Teo Nie Ching who wanted the bill to be amended to also spell out the invalidity of child marriages.

    The proposed amendment was voted down and the bill was subsequently passed with no major changes.

    In explaining further the reason for his opinion, Shabudin pointed out that it is also not fair to assume that a person who committed a sexual offence will continue being a bad person.

    “Maybe he repents, or regrets. It is better to have people who regret rather than people who do not regret.

    “So in this case, let us not put an assumption that the person will remain bad. (Marriage) can be an exit clause for this problem,” he said.

    The former Syariah court judge was defending existing law which allows minors to be married off as long as their parents or guardians seek permission from the Syariah Courts.
