    EDITOR’S NOTE

Apparently, the couple and the company they own have scammed several victims since 2014 where we had a similar post about the scam. It is likely that they have been arrested based on photos taken from https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=332106030525901&id=332104343859403. Photos of the couple is also available here.

Sadly, cheating companies can continue operating and they can even turn an occasional profit.

Do a keyword search for the company and include the term “scam” and you’ll find all of the complaints about shoddy products and substandard service. And yes, those are the ones you want to avoid. Right about now, you should also look out for “Sharlyne / Andre / Sherie / Reshea Carpentry Design Works/ Carpentry Interior Works Pte Ltd” when looking for renovation company to engage their services.

Have you been cheated by this particular scammers or any other renovation companies? Share your encounter with us at Rilek1Corner.

  • AST Ah Beng Want To Whack People In Yishun Cinema

AST Ah Beng Want To Whack People In Yishun Cinema

Spotted this AH Beng gangster on social media calling out someone and want to whack him in Yishun cinema. They got into a quarrel after the gangster block the screen and the other person call him an a**hole then he said he is AST (ang soon tong) and want to call people whack him.

As an old timer who was once active, I think young gangsters these days need to learn to be more standard. Firstly, no need to declare your gang. Just ask him where he’s from. If same gang can talk. If different gang just whack. Need to call people and bring metal pole? That’s why I say no standard.

And I see other examples of no standard gangsters. If u want to shout gang cheer don’t so stupid put on youtube. wah lau. really stupid. Fight also put on FB. Knn. Pui. These days gangsters really no standard.

  • Netflix Shows Yishun In Stranger Things Promotional Video

Netflix Shows Yishun In Stranger Things Promotional Video

“Is Yishun cursed, simply unlucky or struck by something stranger?”

These are the words accompanying a clip of Yishun, posted by American video streaming giant Netflix on its Facebook page on Wednesday (March 22) night.

The clip, likely advertising the second season of its hit series Stranger Things, shows a Yishun MRT station sign against a background of the Upside Down, or a parallel universe in the sci-fi horror television series.

A shadow passes by briefly halfway through the 11-second clip.

Stranger Things, Netflix’s original supernatural series, stars 90s star Winona Ryder whose son mysteriously vanishes.

The series has catapulted its young actors to stardom, including Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp and Caleb McLaughlin.

The 2016 eight-episode series received stellar reviews and ratings, and will be returning for a second season on Halloween this year.

Netizens were amused by the post, which poked fun at Singapore’s northern Yishun town and the reputation it appears to have acquired as a seedy place where anything can happen.

Wrote Facebook user Stuart Kuek: “Even Netflix is making fun of Yishun… time to build a wall around Yishun.”

Jacq Lim called it “the Upside Down of Singapore”, while Yong Jian Lee wrote: “New show ‘Yishun Things’”.

    But not everyone was amused.

Joseph Jo wrote: “Lame, not funny… been living here my whole life, wasn’t so bad like 10 years ago… who to blame?”

The Straits Times in February wrote about the odd reputation Yishun has acquired for negative news. Reports about happenings in the area range from cat killings, murder, brothel raids and civilians trying to attack policemen with stun guns.

But the made-up phenomenon is driven by media coverage and confirmation bias, experts said.

Assistant Professor Liew Khai Khiun, from Nanyang Technological University’s Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, said Yishun’s reputation boils down to “public imagination”.

Nee Soon GRC MP Mr Louis Ng said there are both positive and negative news in every estate, “but a lot more people read the bad news”.

  • Neighbour From Hell In Yishun Terrorises Upstairs Neighbours

Neighbour From Hell In Yishun Terrorises Upstairs Neighbours

Shin Min Daily News shared a video clip of a neighbour from hell who terrorised 2 of her neighbours at Block 112 of Yishun Ring Road. According to the news site, the incident started 2 years ago, when one of the neighbours found a mixture of oil and salt on her metal gates causing it to rust. The other neighbour found a pile of rubbish on her bicycle along the corridor soon after.

This led them to install a CCTV and they found out that the acts of mischief were caused by a woman who lived one floor below them. The video clip shared by Shin Min showed the woman in sunglasses throwing toilet paper, sanitary pads, braised meat sauce, and even urine at her neighbours’ flats.

The 2 affected residents set up a barrier using tables and chairs to deter the neighbour from hell who lived below them, but even that did not help. The acts have continued despite calls to the police as well as notices against such behaviour by the town council.

Shin Min said that the woman in shades refused to answer her door when they tried to talk to her.

  • Cosplay Fan Fined $1,000 For Causing Alarm

Cosplay Fan Fined $1,000 For Causing Alarm

A cosplay enthusiast who enjoyed dressing up as a law enforcement officer caused such alarm with a replica weapon that 50 real police officers were mobilised to track him down.

Timothy Tan Zhiyu, 26, who is unemployed, was yesterday fined $1,000 for his antics.

Tan was walking alone towards an open air carpark near Yishun Ring Road on the morning of Sept 23, 2015, when he decided to fiddle with his replica gun, which he had tucked down the front of his pants.

He took the toy gun out, cocked it as if it was a real weapon, and hid it underneath his clothes again.

A passer-by who saw Tan doing this was alarmed and called police.

Officers from different police departments, including the Special Tactics and Rescue team and the Special Operations Command, were mobilised in an urgent operation to track him down.

They combed through closed-circuit television footage from various Housing Board blocks in the neighbourhood and interviewed people in the vicinity.

Officers finally spotted Tan holding his replica gun in CCTV footage captured in a lift at Block 331 Yishun Ring Road.

They raided his flat and arrested him there, only to realise that the weapon was made of hard plastic and unable to fire any projectiles.

Tan told them that he bought the toy gun at Funan DigitaLife Mall.

Police seized a total of 14 replica rifles and two replica handguns from Tan’s home.

He had engaged in cosplay for many years and enjoyed dressing up as a Swat officer or a member of the United States Marines. And he bought several plastic toy guns to feed his interest.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Joshua Rene Jeyaraj told the court that Tan did not think anyone noticed him playing with the replica gun, and he did not intend to alarm anyone.

The DPP told District Judge Imran Abdul Hamid: “Given that it seemed that Tan was in possession of a real handgun and the current security climate, an urgent police operation was mounted to determine Tan’s whereabouts.”

DPP Joshua said police have since raided the store where Tan bought the replicas as part of investigations into suspected breaches of import and export laws.

For displaying threatening behaviour and thereby causing alarm, Tan could have been fined up to $5,000.
