  • Polite Bank Robber Who Told The Teller, ‘Sorry I Have Financial Problems’ Have Been Arrested

Polite Bank Robber Who Told The Teller, ‘Sorry I Have Financial Problems’ Have Been Arrested

A man who allegedly stole Bt270,000 (RM34,212) from a Thanachart bank branch on Bangkok’s Rama III Road on September 7 was arrested on Monday morning in Chaiyaphum’s Chaturat district.

Wattana Phujarit was arrested at 7am at a resort in Tambon Ban Kok in possession of Bt240,800 (RM30,520).

Wattana reportedly confessed that he had robbed the bank because he had been caught embezzling more than Bt100,000 (RM12,671) from an apartment building on Chan Road where he was the caretaker.

However, despite robbing the bank, he could not repay the money to the apartment as the case had made headlines, forcing him to flee to the Northeast.

Police tracked Wattana’s escape route after he left the bank and rode a motorcycle to Chan Road where he hailed a tuk-tuk and then a motorcycle taxi.

He showed up again in the Chan Road area the next morning and hailed a taxi bound for Nonthaburi’s Pakkred area, a police source said.

Police meanwhile confirmed that Wattana was from Khon Kaen, leading to suspicions that he would flee to his hometown in the Northeast.

Tracing his phone led police to a hideout in Chaiyaphum, the source added.

Wattana reportedly later rode a bicycle from Pathum Thani to Chaiyaphum to avoid police as he anticipated they would be looking for him in Khon Kaen.

While allegedly robbing the Bang Khlo Laem branch, Wattana reportedly told a teller: “I’m sorry. I have financial problems.”

He then walked out of the bank with the money, with a security guard holding open the door for him, believing him to be a bank customer.

Man Kidal Menyerah Diri Kepada Pihak Polis

SEA Games: Indonesian Netizens’ Retaliation Towards Malaysia’s Error With The Indonesian Flag

It looks like some Indonesian netizens have chosen to express their anger in the same form as what was did onto them. If only Malaysia had hastily devised some form of remedy to appease the nation’s uproar for their uncalled for mistake, maybe things wouldn’t have gone out of hand.

However their best work was none other than this! They showed their prowess by clinching the top of the table in the Seagames hosted by Malaysia themselves. Indonesia is currently at the number 1 spot with 182 Gold medals.

  • Myanmar Football Team Rewarded $68,000 For Victory Over Singapore

Myanmar Football Team Rewarded $68,000 For Victory Over Singapore

The Myanmar Under-22 football team have been rewarded handsomely for their 2-0 victory over Singapore on Monday.

It is understood that the team received a US$50,000 (S$68,250) bonus after winning their SEA Games opener.

Facebook page Thai Futbol carried a picture of the team being handed a brown envelope supposedly containing US$30,000.

According to sources, the US$30,000 came from KBZ Bank, while Myanmar Football Federation president U Zaw Zaw and former Yangon United chairman U Tay Za contributed US$10,000 each.

Former Singapore national coach P N Sivaji, who is now technical director of Myanmar National League side Hanthawaddy United, told The New Paper that such gestures are not uncommon.

He said: “There are quite a few patrons and well-wishers who have shown great willingness to support and reward the team.”

While Myanmar Under-22 coach Gerd Zeise has set an initial target of reaching the semi-finals, expectations are high as they have eight players who featured in the 2015 Under-20 World Cup and also won a silver medal at the last SEA Games.

They got off to a good start in Kuala Lumpur as Aung Thu’s goals either side of half-time were enough to seal three points in a group that also comprises hosts Malaysia, Laos and Brunei.

TNP understands that the Young Lions were offered $2,000 each to beat Myanmar on Monday, and that figure could increase for tonight’s do-or-die game against Malaysia in which they have to get at least a point to keep their semi-final hopes alive.

Elsewhere, the Sultan of Johor gave RM4million (S$1.27m) to the Football Association of Malaysia after their Under-22 side qualified for the AFC U-23 Championship for the first time last month.

The players were initially promised RM6,000 each for their efforts but can now look forward to a bigger payday.
