  • Hisyam Hamid Pulang Ke Singapura Setiap Bulan Kerana Rindu Anak

Hisyam Hamid Pulang Ke Singapura Setiap Bulan Kerana Rindu Anak

“Apabila kami menempah tiket ‘last minute’, harga selalunya mahal.

  • Janet Jackson Spotted In Full Islamic Dress For First Time Since Pregnancy Announcement

Janet Jackson Spotted In Full Islamic Dress For First Time Since Pregnancy Announcement

Singer Janet Jackson was this week spotted in public for the first time since announcing her pregnancy – wear full Islamic dress.

The star is believed to have become a Muslim after marrying Qatari billionaire Wissam Al Manna, 41, in 2012.

Our exclusive pictures show the couple looking relaxed and happy as they shopped in London earlier this week.

The pair strolled hand in hand as Janet – who will become a mum for the first time later this year at the age of 50 – stroked her growing bump.

They were spotted browsing for children’s clothes at an upmarket boutique before stopping for lunch at a health food restaurant.

Janet, who has sold over 100 million records, is widely regarded as one of the most successful female solo artists of all time.

She was married twice before meeting her magnate husband.

Speculation that the star was expecting first surfaced in April this year, when she postponed her upcoming tour.

She told fans: “My husband and I are planning our family.”

But the star – who has become notoriously private in recent years – refused to confirm the news until October.

Posing for a picture with her bump in American magazine People, she said: “We thank God for our blessing.”

Heavily pregnant Janet Jackson and her husband Wissam Al Manna make their first public appearance since announcing her pregnancy
Al Manna is said to have been a great support to Janet since she learned she was to become a mum for the first time.

The pair are said to have met in 2010, but their liaison was kept so under wraps that barely anyone knew they were a couple until a year after they had wed.

They regularly jet around the world on exotic trips but are based in Al Manna’s native Doha, Qatar.

In 2014, he said: “We love traveling. “We love going to nice, exotic places far away from the world and from prying eyes.”

Janet is said to have taken a while to adjust to life in Qatar, due to the restrictions placed on women – and the fact she’s had to give up designer clothes.

  • Hassan In Limbo

    Hassan In Limbo

The Football Association of Thailand (FAT) confirmed yesterday (Oct 17) that the country’s top football competition, the Thai Premier League (TPL), has ended.

It means that Army United, where Singapore goalkeeper Hassan Sunny plies his trade, will be relegated to Division 1.

Hassan, the Singapore No. 1, is hoping he can secure a loan move and stay in the top flight.

Speaking to The New Paper yesterday, the 32-year-old, who kept five clean sheets for his club this season, said: “I still have one more year on my contract with Army United, so I will have to play in Division 1 if they want me to.

“No disrespect to Division 1, but I would like to still play in the top division if possible, as I feel I can still play at this level.

“I have had some verbal interest from some TPL clubs, although given my contract circumstances, they would have to pay a transfer fee to sign me on a permanent deal, which is more common for locals than imports here.

“There is a new chairman at my club, so I’m not sure now what direction they want to take for next season.

“I will meet with him soon and hope to get a clearer picture.

“If I don’t fit in their plans, I will request to go on loan at another TPL club.”

The FAT announced the conclusion of the 18-team TPL season with three matches to go following the death of King Bhumibol Adulyadej last Thursday.

The league standings at the time were deemed final, with Muang Thong United crowned champions and the bottom three – Army United, Chainat Hornbill and BBCU – relegated, while upcoming cup finals would be decided by a draw.

According to Thailand daily Siam Sport, Army United had complained of “unfair relegation with three matches and nine points to play for”, as there were teams ahead of them they still could have caught.

After a meeting with the affected clubs, the FAT upheld the original decision.

Hassan can look back at two fruitful seasons in the TPL in which he has become a fan favourite with his committed and commanding displays.

Earlier this year, he was named by British newspaper The Telegraph as the 18th-best goalkeeper in the world.

“I love the challenge here in Thailand,” said Hassan.

“Week in, week out, every game feels like an international match here in terms of the standard of play, the intensity and the environment.

“We can all feel the excitement of a game day and it’s a league which every Singaporean footballer should aspire to play in.

“I have always given 100 per cent
in every game I play and it’s nice that the fans acknowledge that and tell us they appreciate us regardless of the results.

“The team I play for are not one of the strongest or richest, and there’s definitely pressure to perform as an import, but I have really enjoyed my time here and I’m looking forward to playing in the TPL for at least another season.”

  • Artist Koh Mun Hong And Singer Nona Asiah Receive Cultural Medallion Award

Artist Koh Mun Hong And Singer Nona Asiah Receive Cultural Medallion Award

Artist Koh Mun Hong and singer Nona Asiah have been conferred this year’s Cultural Medallion award. The Young Artist Awards recipients are Alecia Neo, Muhamad Harezam, Liu Xiaoyi, Marc Nair and Pooja Nansi.

The Cultural Medallion and Young Artist Awards recognise individuals who have contributed to the development of Singapore’s cultural landscape.

Mr Koh, 64, is a well-known Chinese calligrapher, poet and ink painter who has taught and groomed many younger calligraphers in Singapore.

Madam Asiah, 86, who is better known as Nona Asiah to fans, was an iconic singer in the 1950s and 1960s, and a tireless vocal coach after she retired from the limelight in the 1970s.

Mr Koh credits the late calligrapher Pan Shou, whom he met through a mutual friend, as an important mentor.

He says: “I learnt a lot by watching him write Chinese calligraphy and from our conversations about poetry. His poems have such a dignified air, they leave you deeply inspired.”

He says he is happy to be conferred the Cultural Medallion award and receive recognition for his hard work and contribution to the arts. He has not yet, however, made plans on how he might use the $80,000 fund he has access to.

On being conferred the Cultural Medallion, Madam Asiah says: “It should have happened 10 years ago. I’m too old to receive this now.”

Still, she cannot hide her excitement. At the interview with The Straits Times, she beams with pride as she shows off the baju kurung she will wear to the ceremony on Tuesday (Oct 4) night, which she designed and sewed.

She says: “I never expected I would get the award. I thought I had finished achieving everything as a singer and teacher.”
