Rashid Hamid: Charge Zulfikar Shariff In Court, If Not, Singapore Same Like North Korea

If singapore govt really sincere and honest towards protecting the innocent citizens and upholding justice in this country then bring this guy on to court with all the evidence that it got and let this guy defends himself if he is really innocent or better still let our highly qualified judges decide his fate without prejudice in a court of law with all the facts that it has obtained.

ISA is obsolete and is a tool actually design to serve dictators at the helm to keep them in power until eternity and unworthy of a democratic country like singapore. also by using ISA, it makes a mockery of our judicial system as if the law here cannot be just and impartial towards the authority that it needs to go around it in order to ensure justice prevails.even malaysia has do away with ISA for goodness sake.

ISA is only worthy for communist countries like china and north korea where they usually silent innocent people thru detention without trial or thru firing squad at the beach using rocket launcher.

the way i see it, singapore govt is still afraid of its own shadow.learn from malaysia on how to run a country without ISA and maybe who knows one day our singapore govt will grow up.

if malaysia boleh i believe singapore also boleh.

Religious Malays Breed Carelessly, Don’t Take Charge Of Their Lives, Perpetuate Handout Mentality

Melayu yang susah tapi anak ramai are usually from the alim tak alim type. It is also the same group that perpetuate that handout mentality.

Beranak more than they can afford (besarkan anak bukan setakat bela bagi makan minum, there are college and uni fees to consider which most Malays dont) then expect the government to tanggung all their offsprings studies.

Menyusahkan orang.

Have what you can afford and not beyond that.

Plan and think long term.

Kalau asyik pikir berapa ramai nak baca doa depan kubur kitalah mentaliti bangang yang memperabihkan khazanah negara untuk nak dibela.

Damanhuri Abas: Ministers Must Be Held Accountable For Lapses In Financial Management In Their Ministries

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

On Thursday, the AGO released its report on serious and major lapses in financial management across several government Ministries and Statutory Boards across Ministries, to the tune of hundreds of millions of tax-payers money.

The Singapore government has always pride itself for its much vaunted so-called corrupt free practices and non-tolerance to any corruption. But this revelation from the AGO clearly provides evidences that may show otherwise.

Singaporeans first need to salute and congratulate the AGO for being courageous in reporting the truth of financial lapses that may be pervasive across the government sectors. And it really begs the question of the kind of flimsy oversight being practiced under the watch of the million-dollar paid Ministers.

Surely it is only just and fair for Singaporeans to expect a much better job by those premium paid Ministers. Or are they becoming precisely sloppy due to their own self being extremely cash-rich making them lacksadalsicle towards public money under their care.

Firstly, Singaporeans demand to know from Ministers running those Ministries and Statutory boards their explanations for these serious financial lapses in their respective Ministries. Why and how can it be possible that given the enormous powers vested to them and the people they had assisting them, yet they failed miserably in supervising and ensuring such wastage of public funds given to their care by tax-payers who had to slogged it our tireless for their hard-earned money to pay taxes.

Secondly, there are plenty of precedents of cases that were given much publicity in the press that led to jail terms to several individuals for lesser amount of money involved, such as the recent case of Hari Raya lighting involving Majlis Pusat. This case involved some inflations of invoices for payments while not going into the pockets of the management team involved, were deemed as CBT worthy cases. And now the expose by the AGO are plenty of worst cases of possibly CBT worthy ones such as the gross inflation of consultation fees of $410,000 for a Bin construction that only cost $60,000. Clearly someone pocketed much public money here.

For these and many more reasons of consistency and transparency that the public demands accountability by all the Ministers whose Ministries were flagged by the AGO, for the clear failure of oversight.

What is more fundamental here is the need to call these Ministers to task as they were only a while ago demanding such serious consequences to WP and its leadership for alleged financial lapses involving the AHPETC. Ministers were so bold as to even call for severe action even for hara-kiri as a benchmark for lapses of management of public money. Now these same Ministers have been very silent when they are now caught for much bigger quantum of losses of public money that they are responsible for.

Singaporeans must not allow the AGO report to go quietly away but must insist that Ministers come clean and explain the serious failures of their own governance of public money and must take the full responsibility for it. Singaporeans remember clearly that these Ministers are paid premium justified precisely on terms that now dictate consequences upon their failures of duty.

The government must now walk their own talk.

Damanhuri Abas: Ministers Job Is To Ensure Check And Balance, Not Defend The Wrongs

The AGO job is to flag the financial irregularities. The onus is upon the Ministries and Stat Board flagged to come clean and explain what happened. Already we have Grace Fu trying hard to justify the gross 410K expertise NAC engaged for a Rubbish Bin design.

The root cause is about genuine check and balance, safeguards and transparency. Its a chronic reality that begins from the very top when a culture of non-transparency on public money is justified for bigger sums like our CPF, reserves, and the like.

In Parliament, MPs (especially opposition) have the privilege of demanding the Ministries to come clean on these financial lapses. Sadly the parliament is severely lopsided. Thus allowing the continuation of bad practices and lack or transparency on our public money to continue.

Ultimately, its about democracy and parliamentary representation for the people to truly be able to voice their concerns. These are severely undermined by the current GRC system which allow for systematic demographic manipulation thru redrawing boundaries justified by irrelevant basis of ensuring minority representation.

Bigger things r at stake for Spore. Singaporeans sadly r easily distracted.

MHA: Zulfikar Shariff Detained And Arrested Under ISA

In a press release issued on Friday (July 29), the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said Zulfikar Mohamad Shariff, 44, was arrested and detained, after it was found that he had used social media to propagate and spread his radical messages. He considered his propagation of radical material as a form of jihad, by way of creating awareness of ISIS and promoting armed jihad.

On Facebook, he supported terrorism and the terrorist group ISIS, and made numerous Facebook posts that glorified and promoted ISIS and their violent actions, said the MHA.

In addition, Zulfikar admitted that he wanted his online followers to reject the Western secular democratic nation-state system and establish an Islamic caliphate, governed by Syariah law. The MHA added that he had actively looked into holding training programmes aimed at radicalising young Singaporeans so that they would be persuaded into joining his extremist agenda.

Admitting that he had an ulterior motive for setting up a Facebook page, “Al-Makhazin Singapore”, he used this page to unnerve people on certain Muslim issues in Singapore and attack some Singaporean Muslims who disagreed with him. His real agenda – which he hid from members of that page – was to provoke Singaporean Muslims into pushing for the replacement of the democratic system with an Islamic state in Singapore, said the MHA.

Zulfikar, whom the MHA said had embarked on the path of radicalism as early as 2001, has previously made news here, when he was the head of a fringe group called Fateha.com more than a decade ago. The group made waves in 2002 for alleging that the Singapore Government does not consider the sensitivities of the Muslim community. Zulfikar fled Singapore when he was being investigated for possible criminal defamation. His family has resettled in Australia.

Through his radical postings he influenced two other Singaporeans: Muhammad Shamin Mohamed Sidik, who is already detained under the ISA, and businessman Mohamed Saiddhin Abdullah, 33.

Saiddhin had looked up to Zulfikar, followed his postings and was convinced by the latter’s “positive portrayal of ISIS”. Not only did he repost Zulfikar’s postings, he also emulated him by photographing himself adopting the common pose of jihadi fighters while standing before an ISIS flag, said the MHA.

Saiddhin has been placed under a Restriction Order for two years, which took effect this month. A person under an RO cannot change his residence, employment or travel out of Singapore without official approval. He also cannot issue public statements or join organisations without approval.
