Commentary: Maybe Non-Malays Would Not Vote For A Malay In An Open PE, But PAP, LKY And LHL Are Jointly Blamed For This

    Dear Prime Minister,
if you sincerely believe that the Chinese majority and other non Malays would not vote for a Malay in an open presidential contest, you are probably right. But you also must be honest and have the courage to admit that your old man, your party and yourself are jointly to blame for it. All of you had the opportunity to forge unity among Singaporeans but you blew it, perhaps due to the ill advice and instigation of others who have no stake in our future.
The distrust and discriminatory policies directed against the Malays are the main cause. The ill effect of these discriminatory policies, I suppose, would make the Chinese ask themselves why should they vote for a Malay as president if on the whole they cannot be trusted.
For decades we have wasted the opportunity to get our youth to think and act as one people. Friendship built up from young would last a lifetime. Such friendship can naturally be forged when young men train, struggle, laugh and even cry together while performing their national service. The same thing goes with prejudice and suspicion. They also last a lifetime. The marked absence of Malays in the armed forces, especially in the navy and airforce is telling. The silly explanation to justify your government’s actions – no space for halal kitchen in naval vessels, etc – shows your contempt towards the discriminated community. Though only males are involved in national service, as head of their families such prejudice and distrust would somehow be transmitted to their spouses and children. I don’t have to belabour the point.
Beside this there are other policies that are equally prejudiced and divisive like the SAP schools and selective immigration policies, just to name a few.The sad thing is, such policies are still in place.
If you and your party have done it right for Singapore there would not have been necessary to have a reserved PE or even the GRC. After all we are Singaporeans are we not? You should give meaning to our national pledge – regardless of race, language or religion!
Your calls for unity in the face of current threats sound hollow.

Sexism In 2017: It Was Meant As A Joke, But That’s How The Industry Works

Someone posted the following screenshots of a conversation presumably between a lady and an Australian man where she captioned “Sexism in 2017”.

In the conversation, it is believed that the lady applied for a presenter job and was rejected due to the following reasons below. After that she kept thinking about the incident and decide to confront the Australian man again through texting.

  • Commentary: Are Authorities Taking The ‘Mystery Smell Haze’ Incident Seriously With Terror Attacks Rampant Around The World?

Commentary: Are Authorities Taking The ‘Mystery Smell Haze’ Incident Seriously With Terror Attacks Rampant Around The World?

It was disappointing to hear the authorities here say that they were not able to establish what the mystery smell, which was detected in several parts of Singapore on Monday.

Singaporeans were left to speculate as to where it might have originated from.

The noxious “vapour cloud” was widespread, observable to the naked eye, persistent and, reportedly, carried slowly across the island without significant dissipation in strength or coverage.

Breathing in the polluted air produced discomfort, including dryness in the throat, eye irritation and headache. I can personally attest to this.

Many others must share my disappointment that the teams sent by the Singapore Civil Defence Force to investigate could only declare that they “have not detected the presence of toxic industrial chemicals in the air”.

National Environment Agency officers presumably found nothing either, given the agency’s statement that “air quality levels during the period were found to be well within safety limits”.

This is despite thousands of people seeing the smoke, being adversely affected and becoming more than a little alarmed.

Something is wrong either with our senses or the agencies’ test equipment and investigation protocols.

Surely, with all the talk on terror attacks, incidents like this should be viewed more seriously.

Response Pak Andam Terhadap Majlis Perkahwinan Minggu Lalu Yang Menerima Pelbagai Kritikan (Kompang, Scooter Dan Pengantin)

    CINTA AKU SEADANYA!

Saya adalah Pak Andam Mempelai dan menyaksikan dari mula majlis hingga akhir majlis. Ramai yang comment negative with regards to the Kompang Group WHICH is Proudly Sponsor by adek pengantin Lelaki.

Creative pulak!! saya suka! sebelum bergerak mereka mempersembahkan SCOOTER IN ACTION lahhhhh bagi meraihkan Pengantin dah Tiba!.

    Allah Azza Wa Jalla, berfirman:

(QS. Al-Hujurat 49 ayat 11)

Jika Kamu mengutuk tubuh badan orang lain, anda juga mengutuk CIPTAAN ALLAH SWT. Anda tergolong dalam Orang Yang Zalim. Minta maaf lah kepada pengantin Nora . Orang melayu kata berani buat berani tanggung, Berani comment berani tanggung tapi di akhirat kelak . • Open Letter To Halimah Yacob From Your Neighbours: Others Are Being Inconvenience So That You Can Remain Convenient

Open Letter To Halimah Yacob From Your Neighbours: Others Are Being Inconvenience So That You Can Remain Convenient

    Dear Halimah,

Ok, thank you very much, the show has been fun, but please move on now. We are quite upset that you have indicated that you will stay in your Yishun flat instead of moving to the Istana. Please consider the following points:

    1)
By insisting on staying in your flat in Yishun, you are causing a major inconvenience to your neighbours. Already, 2 parking spots downstairs have been reserved for police vehicles, as well, the constant stream of reporters, and other members of your presidential entourage compete for parking space in an already scarce parking lot. Look at the size of the parking lot, you can see how small it is, it’s not a multi storey parking structure. How and where are we going to park our vehicles? We as locals are being flooded by a deluge of non resident parking in our area, much akin to our locals being flooded by a deluge of FTs.

    2)

Please dignify the Presidential appointment by residing in the official residence. This is the highest office in the land. All our prior Presidents have accorded it the respect it deserves by residing in the official residence where they easily entertain foreign guests and dignitaries. The residence of the President lends prestige and honour to the position. A HDB flat does not. There is a multimillion $ budget created for the upkeep and maintenance of the Istana. If you are not planning to reside there, then it’s just taxpayer money that is wasted, or do you care at all? Obviously, you are not going to entertain foreign VIP guests in your flat, which means you have to commute every day in your entourage of police outrider bikes and police cars to fulfill your duties at the Istana. For a govt that is harping on productivity and for a supposed Union chief, this does not sound to productive to me, versus staying in the Istana and walking to your appointments. Is this a case of “You can take the Makcik out of the kampong, but you cannot take the kampong out of the makcik?”

    3)

Already, the Police and other assorted SOs are stopping everyone around the area to ask for their IC and their business. People living in the neighbouring blocks have to go through police questioning every time they leave and return home. Maybe this means nothing to you. But it does mean something to us. You have claimed that your flat was very convenient. That’s great. Others are being inconvenience so that you can remain convenient.

    4)

If you think that you are being like one of the people by staying in your HDB flat, we want to tell you that the Elected President Non election show was already too much, the show has ended but you are continuing the wayang. In the first place, no heartlanders have a flat the size of yours. Your own husband Mr Mohamed Adullah Alhabshee, said was “as huge as a penthouse”. We all know you obtained your flat by buying 2 units and then tearing the war down between the 2 flats to make a jumbo flat. How many flat dwellers are allowed to do this? How many flat dwellers live in a flat that is as big as yours? They will be lucky to have a flat half the size. And they will receive a letter from HDB lawyers if they went ahead to tear down a common wall between 2 units. Lets be clear on one thing. You have not live like a common HDB flat dweller, you have earned your money the hard way like a common person, and you sure are not like a HDB dweller. So, lets drop the wayang.

So, for all these reasons listed above, kindly pack up as soon as possible and vacate the premises.
