[Malaysia] 120 Imam Di Sarawak Bakal Menunaikan Ibadah Haji Percuma

Seramai 120 imam di Sarawak akan dapat menunaikan ibadah haji secara percuma tahun ini. Ini setelah mereka dan para anggota Jawatankuasa Kemajuan Dan Keselamatan Kampung (JKKK) di Sarawak yang terpilih, ditawarkan untuk menunaikan fardu haji di bawah Program Khas Haji Perdana Menteri tahun ini.

Bagi Program Khas Haji Perdana Menteri 2017, seramai 1,100 orang dari seluruh negara berpeluang menunaikan ibadah haji musim ini. Semoga semua bakal jemaah-jemaah haji dari semua pelusuk duni mendapat haji yang mabrur dan selamat beribadah!

Dog-Friendly Muslims, Okay Or Not?

Recently, people have been going around debating as to whether Muslims can keep dogs as pets. This issue came about when a photo of a Muslim family and a video of a Muslim girl keeping dogs as pets. Religious leaders have come forward saying that Islam does not permit dogs to be kept as pets in a Muslim household, while a few others said that it is okay. What do you guys think about the issue?

Perak’s Mufti Blames Woman In Shell Poster For Arousing Men

According to Perak’s Mufti, Dr Harussani Zakaria, using a full-size poster, plastic dolls and the likes which features women’s body shape is not allowed in Islam. He further elaborated that all stakeholders should acknowledge that such use of women’s poster may cause negative effects, such as men getting aroused and start “molesting” the poster.

This is in relation to the viral photos of men who posed candidly in a sexual manner with a Shell full-size poster featuring a woman, Nor Shafila Khairusalleh. Despite abusing her poster, Nor Shafila has forgiven the men for their actions. The President of Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isms), Abdullah Zaik Abdul Raman mentioned that whatever happened to Nor Shakily was due to Shell’s decision in featuring a woman in their poster. Abdullah further clarified that it is natural for men to be aroused when they see a woman, although men should lower their gaze.

Singapore’s Prison Officer Charged For Allegedly Attempting To Obtain Bribes Amounting To $81,000

A prison officer was charged on Thursday (Jul 6) for allegedly attempting to obtain bribes to the tune of S$81,000 in cash and loans from an inmate. Kobi Krishna Ayavoo, 50, a senior chief warder at Changi Prison, allegedly solicited the bribes in exchange for “facilitating” inmate Chong Keng Chye’s transfer out of Changi Prison Cluster A1, court documents stated.

Kobi, who faces eight counts of corruption, allegedly tried to obtain loans of up to S$70,000 and cash amounting to S$11,000 between September 2015 and March 2016, the court heard. He will next appear in court on Aug 3. If convicted, Kobi faces up to five years’ jail and/or a fine of up to S$100,000, per charge.

[Malaysia] Jakim Told A Muslim Dog Owner To Repent

The Islamic Development Department (Jakim) has told a Muslim dog owner to repent, advising her that unnecessarily touching of dogs is forbidden in the school of Islam followed in Malaysia. Nurhanizah Abdul Rahman, in a video uploaded to Facebook, shared the story of her relationship with her pet dog Bubu as part of a competition by pet food brand Smart Heart.

Jakim said her decision to touch a dog for no reason had “caused distress among Muslims because it goes against the mazhab (Islamic school of thought) and customs practised in Malaysia. Jakim director-general Othman Mustapha said although Islam provides a cleansing method if a Muslim has touched a dog, it does not mean that it is permissible to touch dogs for no reason. “This is just like someone who commits a sin with the excuse that they will repent later. Jakim hopes she will immediately stop what she is doing and repent to Allah. She appears to be trying to set a new custom which could lead to actions which malign Islam,” he said in a statement.
