On Nov. 19, 2014, Lim put up on Facebook a picture of a letter he wrote last year to encourage his daughter who was going to receive her PSLE results

Besides showing that he is a God-fearing doting father, he is rather formal, because how many people actually types out a letter to their kid?

Regardless, for those of you who also want to write something sweet to your offspring but are too tired or lazy or because you are not much of a professional letter writer, you can copy and paste the text below, which is Lim’s letter. Do remember to change the date and name to suit your circumstances.

My dearest Rebecca,

LETTER FROM YOUR FATHER

Tomorrow the PSLE results will be announced. This last week has been a period of anxiety for myself and your mother as we worry about things which we should not be worrying about. If we have been harsh or impatient with you during these last few weeks, I apologise for we should have known better as your parents.

Regardless of how you perform in your PSLE exams, I want to assure you that you are precious to me and to God. You have always been kind, compassionate and helpful to others, I still recall how you asked me to bring you for the wake of a schoolmate when her mother passed away last year. You have always been wanting to stand up for your classmates who have been bullied.

Good grades are not the most important thing in life. What is very important to me is your character. I want to encourage you to lead your life in an upright manner — hardworking, honest, respectful, humble, loyal and willing to help others. I hope to see my daughter grow up as someone who loves God (just as God loves you) and someone who hold God in awe.

It is important to be hardworking and to aspire to do your best in your endeavours. In all that you do, put in your best efforts. None of us would ever lead our lives without any mistakes. When you fumble or make mistakes in life, acknowledge your errors and learn from the mistake so that you can improve. Do not ever look down on yourself or allow anyone to look down on you. You will always be unique and have your own gifts and talent which God has given to you.

As I had said to your elder sister, honor and love your mother, your sister and your family. We will always be closest to you and will be there to support and encourage you all the time.

You are dearly treasured as my daughter. I am proud to be your father and to be called your dad.

Security Guard On Probation For Having Sex With 13 Year Old Girl

A former security guard was placed on probation for 15 months on Thursday after he admitted having sex with a 13-year-old girl who had run away from home.

Muhammad Rohaizad Muhammad Razali, 20, is the third of four men to be dealt with for having sex with the minor, who fell pregnant and had to have an abortion.

He befriended her on Facebook and asked her to be his girlfriend. She agreed and they had sex six times over the next month at a HDB staircase landing.

He pleaded guilty to two of six offences committed between Feb 8 and March 8 and said he did not use protection on either occasion.

Muhammad Rohaiza was also ordered to perform 120 hours of community service and remain indoors between 10pm and 6am. His parents have to sign a $5,000 bond to ensure his good behaviour.

The court heard that during his month-long relationship with the girl, who is now 14, Muhammad Rohaizad would meet her almost every day near his home in Yishun. All of their sexual encounters took place in the staircase landing of a HDB block there.

Musa Ahmad, 23, and Muhammad Nur Hakim Abdullah, 21 – who were dealt with previously – each received a year in jail.

A fourth man, Muhammad Sharul Shah Saruwan, 20, will be sentenced on Dec 24.

The maximum penalty for having sex with a person under 16 is 10 years in jail and a fine.

Man Detained In Malaysia For Burning Quran

ALOR SETAR: Police detained a man over the discovery of several torn pages of the Quran believed to have been burned in a container at a food court near a market here, today.

Kedah acting police chief Zakaria Yusof said the man was arrested at a supermarket in Mergong here, at 3pm yesterday.

He said the man, whose personal details had not been ascertained, would be referred to the hospital for examination and treatment.

“According to traders at the market, the man was often seen wandering in the market area and was also always seen burning papers (near a food court),” he said in a statement.

Several torn pieces of pages from the Quran, which were burned, were found by a trader, after being informed by another individual, who then reported the matter to the police and the Kedah Islamic Religious Department.

Earlier, at a media conference this evening before the man was apprehended, Zakaria said police suspected the culprit who had burned the Quran could be a deranged man but investigation was still ongoing.

“It is hoped the public will not distort the issue for fear it will create communal misunderstanding.

“If it was done with malicious intention we will take action under Section 298A of the Penal Code, for committing an act that could lead to disintegration of harmony and unity, feeling of dissatisfaction, prejudice based on religion, which carries a prison sentence of two to five years,” he said.

Dutch Mother Rescues Daughter From Islamic State

A mother defied official warnings to travel to the Syrian city of Raqqa to rescue her daughter from the clutches of Islamic State terrorists.

The woman, from Maastricht, named only as Monique was told that it was too dangerous to attempt the journey to free her daughter Aicha, 19.

“Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. This is what I think is right,” she told family and friends

After an appeal for help from her daughter, a Dutch convert to Islam, for help last month, the mother was told by police not to try and rescue her because it was too dangerous.

She was also warned that the “provision of assistance” to jihadists, such as her daughter, could be a criminal offence. She travelled from Turkey to Raqqa, the self styled capital of Islamic State, wearing a burka after arranging via Facebook a rescue rendezvous with he daughter.

The pair then escaped across the Syrian border back to Turkey where Aicha was arrested because she does not have a passport.

After converting to Islam aged 18, Aicha married Omar Yilmaz, a notorious Dutch jihadi, who is a former soldier, after seeing him interviewed on television.

“She wanted to go home, but could not leave Raqqa without help,” said the mother.

Dutch foreign ministry officials have intervened to bring the mother and daughter back from Turkey before the end of the week.

“It is quite remarkable that the mother managed to find and get her daughter,” Françoise Landerloo, the family’s lawyer told the Algemeen Dagblad newspaper.

Ezad Exist Ditangkap Miliki Dadah Syabu

KUALA LUMPUR: Bekas penyanyi kumpulan Exist ditahan polis tengah hari tadi kerana memiliki dadah jenis syabu seberat 0.30 gram.

Penyanyi itu yang berusia 34 tahun ditahan berhampiran Kompleks Selayang Mall kira-kira pukul 1.30 tengah hari setelah pihak polis bertindak maklumat dadah.

Penyanyi yang berasal dari Alor Setar, Kedah itu kini ditahan di Ibu Pejabat Daerah Polis Gombak dan dikatakan akan dihadapkan ke mahkamah esok untuk mendapatkan perintah tahanan reman.

Penyanyi itu menyertai Exist pada 1995, dan telah merakam sebanyak enam buah album bersama kumpulan tersebut.

Selain itu dia turut membintangi beberapa buah filem antaranya “Mami Jarum”, “Mami Jarum Junior”, “Mistik”, “Kuliah Cinta” dan “Tangkai Jering”.
