Here are the compiled comments by Matt Loe who strongly defended Subway Singapore’s decision not to go halal:

Why does every restaurant be halal? if there is a difference in taste with halal, then the non-muslims should be allowed to enjoy also. so anyone who wants their food halal and can’t find it in Singapore, then go up the border where everything is halal, remember Singapore is a multi-race country, for sure, but it is not a muslim one and shouldn’t have to make everything halal just to please a certain percentage of the population. Plus, there are healthy veggie options, not every meal has to be a meat one!

and YES, it will TASTE DIFFERENT… as well as cost a lot to get done. So i support Subway Singapore’s decision on this matter!

** the funny thing about this whole episode here is this… **

    1. why do you want to eat in a food outlet that serves foods that you cannot or are not allowed to consume??

    2. why should a food outlet that is famous for it’s products, including the very ones that you are not able to consume, be forced or begged to change it’s menu items just so that you can also eat there??

    3. why can’t you see how selfish you are being, acting in this manner?? because if it were changed for you, then the others who enjoyed the special menu that they are known for, are going to miss out…

    4. it is very simple… if you have an issue with a certain item, then choose another item!!

    5. it is very simple again… if you are not allowed to consume products in a food outlet that is not certified to your standards, then choose another outlet!!

    6. it is very unreasonable to demand an outlet to be changed just so that one can follow a particular belief system. that is your own choice. just like ppl who choose to be vegetarian, there are those that choose to consume particular foods. if you cannot eat meat or are not allowed to eat particular foods, then it is not the fault of the outlet. it is your particular issue.

    7. i have never seen a meat serving outlet forced to go meat free just to suit a vegetarian’s choice. meaning all meat becomes meat free. i am sure a lot of vegetarians would like more alternatives to choose from, but there are only a couple. instead a choice must be made to choose a suitable outlet. this is an example, because you want all the meat changed just to suit your own taste and beliefs. this means that the
animals to be eaten are killed to your standards and a little sticker goes on the menu along with a certificate on the wall.

    8. the taste WILL be different. maybe not for you, but for all the regulars who loved the menu just as it was….

    9. the way the animal is slaughtered is unethical for a LOT of people.

    10. for a meat eater, turkey does NOT taste better than pork. and i really have to ask, how would you know that it does?? for the real thing, there is no substitute. so stop saying that there can or should be.

    11. if you wouldn’t change your outlets when asked, why should others change theirs?? a lot of ppl do not like halal but this would never be changed now would it…to please those that don’t like the taste, or the preparation? the coin has TWO sides to it.

Ps. i am not against anybody here, or anywhere, i am not promoting any kind of ‘hate’ speech either. however, i can see here that some are very rude when they don’t get their own way. this is just discussion only. and FYI, i do not consume any pork, beef, or any seafood items as my choice. I am against ANY outlet being changed from it’s original menu items when it doesn’t need to be just to suit a few.

Subway is Subway – sumthing can’t eat, then too bad !!! you can’t change a whole restaurant just cos u can’t eat a few tems on the menu – r u kidding me??!! LOVE it or LEAVE it…

  • SG Chinese Thinks Malays Always Marry-Divorce-Remarry

Recently, a young Malay woman Xiaoxiao Budaqqkecik posted a comment and uploaded a video of a Chinese funeral that lasted for several days at her void deck.

She also brought in example of how Malay void deck weddings would not be easily tolerated due to the noise, and questioned how this could easily escalate into hate comments and complaints from residents who would call the police. To know more about Xiaoxiao Budaqqkecik comments, click here.

Several Chinese Singaporeans have also expressed their views on the video. Here are their comments:

Some chinese won’t agree with this doe .. but all I’m saying is you respect my culture and I’ll respect yours. Malay wedding is not the same place every week. And we only do on the weekend. Same as chinese but they weekdays also have yet we don’t complain much. It’s just that we really want to get along and respect each other culture. Not comparing but this is the fact that is happening in singapore you guys always complain but when one malay speak up, you just can’t seems to agree. Like that then very hard lorr. – Authored by Xiaoxiao Budaqqkecik

Thanks to SyA for the contribution.

Every culture has its own quirky display of happiness and sadness. Certain occasions, we can be loud and flamboyant; at times we embrace it quietly. And that’s what makes us uniquely Singaporeans. Singaporeans have high tolerance towards many things. We earned it!

Let’s face it guys, we live in HDB. We share common spaces, and that’s the great thing about living so close to one another. We learn to accept each other’s erratic behaviour and admittedly we grow fond of it. When it comes to sharing, we must give and take.

Let’s not bicker on the issue of tolerance and question our steel hard social cohesion.

Our parents have done it peacefully, why can’t we? Think about it.

At first when Rilek1Corner published articles on a MLM/Pyramid/Ponzi/GRQ company, I was furious becos I had just joined in and it would affect my prospecting.

True as it is, the prospects started canceling meetings and there were even people who stood me up. I just had a newborn baby and had to leave her for this meeting every night to accompany prospects to view the presentations. I took cabs there. I needed to pay for the trainings that they provided which is just to teach you how to use the website and how to persuade your family, friends and strangers to join in as well which requires you endless of postings and the annoying random tagging Facebook friends (Ya that was taught in the training).

And if you need flyers that only published some Caucasian family with USD notes in it (it was said that the company is branched out into Asia regions and the base is here so why not picture our locals and not some photo ripped off from Google) and name cards, you also need to pay for that. They are all not inclusive in their expensive membership fees. The application forms for your prospects are also DIY and you need to print them on your own. Rich company with cheap ideas.

It was a requirement to have such huge capitals to join. There were small and big boards. Sound like a money game right? That is why some individuals have views that it is similar to gambling which is quite true to me now. You risk thousands of dollars in it and if your board is stuck and no one in your board recruits anyone, you will forever be at the same position you joined in and don’t get any returns at all.

    10174934_1498614700354570_5682461415769158069_n

The people who take photos with lots of money make it looks so easy. They are people who already have connections with people who have money. Thus they can create their own network bigger and faster than the ones who do not have connections. Sometimes it is also becos they were from a different MLM company and dragged the others to join in the new ones. It is like a fad. These group of people will keep changing their attentions and try all other platforms in MLM industry to make money out of others’ hard earned money.

This particular MLM company has their members posting that you need not sell anything when their membership is inclusive with “motivational” ebooks written by an author who is a Minister in the United States in the 16th century. They said it is not an MLM company becos it is not like other companies that requires you to sell various products with targets and the uplines profiting in your sales.

How can it be not an Multi-Level Marketing company when they have 4 levels in each board?

And in order for you to get your payout you have to be at the top and it does not matter if the vacant boxes are filled up by you or other members in the board. Once you are at the very top, and the empty boxes are filled, you get your payout.

So aren’t you profiting on other member’s efforts? If it is not pyramid scheme, why is the board in a shape of a pyramid?

A matrix board system is a modified pyramid scheme. They claimed that the company originated from Canada for 26 years but the company registry was done in 2013, also in British Virgin Islands. Contradicting isnt it? When asked where the other members in other parts of the world other than Asia, they will say we can only access the website which is only in our region. Strange isn’t it now? Members also asked who the founder in Canada is. No one has the answers and instead we were told that we are not allowed to acknowledge who the founder is becos afraid that competitor companies will spoil the market. More question marks now.

Till date, no one cld tell any truth about it. When someone tries to speak up, they will threaten you that they file a lawsuit against you for defamation. If it is legal and lawful, why is the company not registered in Singapore itself after so many commotions? They will tell you it is becos SG will tax us and we will receive low payouts. So? If anything happens, you have no one to turn to becos it is not a registered company here.

The thing is with people who are involved in MLM, they will fish you in by sweet talking, be it family members, relatives, friends or just strangers. Telling you that there are no other “good” platforms as such anywhere in the country. When you join, they leave you 100% on your own and expect you to do your work. If you don’t get to recruit anyone, they will accuse you of sleeping or not doing your work. Trust me, it had been dozens of times me going up and down their office to accompany prospects and many turned me down.

Criticisms over the social media on what I was doing. It was a waste of so much money. People joining in with hopes to get rich but in the end losing money. What the pioneers or the successful ones are doing, they just keep going and leave the unlucky ones behind. Telling you it is all rezeki/fate that you dont get your money back. If you give up, they even block you in FB becos they deem you as a negative person.

Seriously? As uplines or pioneers, you should guide and help. Not leave us. Clearly shown how people can be nice to you for money and nasty when they receive your money. Instantly you become an enemy to them. Why show others photos of the same people? How about the unsuccessful ones? They tell you 1k-2k members has gotten their payouts so why is it less than 1% of the “successful” members’ testimonials published in the website?

Learn this as a lesson and DO NOT GET DUPED!!

    EDITOR’S NOTE

Again Rilek1Corner would like to take this opportunity to remind dear readers about get-rich quick schemes (GRQ) and its many guises – MLM, Pyramid, Ponzi, Board, Matrix, Pigeon, etc.

Just like human beings, these GRQs come in many fancy names. But there will always be two constant characteristics: (i) the recruitment of new members, and (ii) you are required to pay some money upfront. This money can be in the form of membership fee, registration fee, or some admin charges. It is just a simple reason for them to take your hard-earned money.

Remember, your hard-earned money is your money. Learn to appreciate. Instead of giving to strangers, might as well spend it on your family and loved ones. Unless you strike a lottery, no one gets rich in an instant.

If people say they are wealth experts, why are they still staying in public housing? Why aren’t they employed as ministers and coming out with policies to help Singaporeans if they are really that great? Why aren’t they being headhunted by banks and other MNCs to help generate money?

Instead they target commoners like you and us.

Please save your money. Keep it for rainy days.

Ramadhan is approaching soon. Let’s not fool our friends, relatives and those poor elderly people who have little savings left to spend during their silver years.

Not trying to be racist or rude here but what if this were to be a malay wedding?

Confirm people will complain till the police come. I won’t talk about how bright was the light and people talking loudly last night and the other night.

    EDITOR’S NOTE

This is the reality living in HDB.

The principles of coexistence and tolerance are important as bases for building mutually acceptable relationships between highly diverse communities within a larger society.

Singapore is a multi-racial and multi-religious society. Different racial and religious groups have their own beliefs and practices, understanding one and another can build networks of trust across different communities. Being mindful when speaking can also avoid clashes – a careless comment may ignite an argument which may in turn snowball into bigger-scale disputes.

We would think that the strong bonds and trust between people was the key.

  • Sheng Siong Butcher Uses Same Chopping Board to Cut Pork and Fish

    Sheng-Siong-Bedok-Reservior

Halal issues are secondary here. The main question is: How can you mix raw pork and raw fish together? That will definitely cause cross-contamination and everyone – regardless Muslim or not – should be complaining before someone dies of food poisoning.

We would like to thank Ms JY for the information, and reader Abdul Malik Mohammed Ghazali for pointing out the improper handling of raw meat and seafood can set the stage for cross-contamination – the spread of bacteria throughout the kitchen and get onto chopping boards, utensils, and bench tops.
