If Not Ready To Be Inclusive, Please Don’t Use Iftar In Description Of A Non-Halal Potluck

Someone shared a flyer about “Potluck Iftar Dinner @ Block 101” organised by Choa Chu Kang Zone 3 Committee. To what seem to be a joke or surprise to some, the flyer added a note saying all residents are welcomed. Those who are interested in attending the dinner are expecting to bring at least one signature dish (halal/non-halal per family). The person who shared then suggested that any non-muslim organiser should avoid using Islamic terms like Iftar or Ramadan, ie. Bazar Ramadan, if they are not ready to be inclusive.

Don’t believe? See it for yourself below.

May I suggest any non-muslim organiser to avoid using Islamic terms like Iftar or Ramadan, ie. Bazar Ramadan, if you are not ready to be inclusive. This is to avoid unnecessary confusion. I would also like to suggest our muslim MPs to remind your colleagues to be more sensitive when using these terms. And RC members, please get the approval from your Muslim advisors or MPs before you disseminate such invitations. Thank you for your understanding.

  • Choa Chu Kang Fire – Washing Machine Running Laundry When It Caught Fire

Choa Chu Kang Fire – Washing Machine Running Laundry When It Caught Fire

Stomper James was shocked when he awoke to his washing machine on fire this morning (May 11) at around 9.30am.

The incident happened at his home in Block 455, Choa Chu Kang Avenue 4, while he was still asleep in his room, and his mother was in the living room.

According to James, his mother was watching television in the living room when she noticed thick smoke coming from the balcony where the washing machine was placed.

After that, a power trip followed.

She woke James up, who went to investigate the source of the smoke, discovering that their washing machine had caught fire, with smoke being emitted.

He quickly ran to the bathroom and grabbed a pail of water, dousing the machine in water.

After his second pail, the fire was extinguished at around 9.40am, and he quickly informed his siblings about the incident.

    Said James:

“The washing machine was purchased in 2010.

“I’m worried now as I have many appliances at home that are from the same company.

“I’ve posted the incident on Facebook and brought the matter up to the company, but have received no replies so far.

    “Luckily, no one was hurt.

“But I work in the afternoons, and during that time, my elderly parents are home by themselves.”

  • Desperate Father: Will My Son Ever Get A Place In Autism SPED School When Even My Own MP Cannot Help?

Desperate Father: Will My Son Ever Get A Place In Autism SPED School When Even My Own MP Cannot Help?

NOT ASKING FOR THE MOON…Just A Place For My Son In Autism Sped School…!!!

I rarely post on social media. But today is an exception. Today I can’t help but to post this.

After much persuasion from my wife… today after work, I accompanied both my wife and son to Eden School / Eden Centres for Adults / Eden Children’s Centres / AAS for Autism, in hopes to plead for a slot this year for Nabil in there.

After meeting with the in charge for enrollment, to our disappointment we were told that the earliest most possible intake for Nabil is next year in January 2018.

He’s of a P2 age this year…it’s been 2 lengthy years already..how long more do you expect my son to wait… I can’t help feeling the negative vibes that Nabil is like not being considered for a place at all when being told to go and try for other sped schools or private schools…..this is easier said than done.

It is beyond my understanding why distance between school and home is not being considered during a sped school enrollment just like how it is being applied in mainstream primary schools.

Really could not comprehend the system how a student who resides in as far as pasir ris and tampines are prioritized and get a slot in Eden (Bt Batok) while we the apparent west residents (CCK) are left hanging precariously by the hook.

We as parents are truly exhausted. Have tried numerous means of help…even to the extend of approaching the Member of Parliament of our area Mr Zaqy Mohamad in hopes to expedite the enrollment but till today..we have yet to receive even a reply from him regarding the matter regrettably.

It is just emotionally tiring and draining to say the least…as a husband, seeing your wife shedding her tears helplessly in public as we step out of Eden School earlier on while hugging my son was the last straw for me!

Seek help from Ministry of Education, Singapore you say?? How could we when in the first place, they couldn’t even help to issue a student ezlink card for Nabil just because he has yet to get enrolled into a school. Yes. My son all this while has been paying adult fare whenever he took the train since he turns 7. How justifying is this…?! You see how my son has been tossed back and forth all these while….

The system got to change…someone has got to look into the cases which falls through the cracks…that’s where our unheard voices are being suppressed unfairly….?

  • Residents In Sunshine Gardens Still Plagued By Faulty Pipe Issues, HDB Say ‘Nothing Wrong’

Residents In Sunshine Gardens Still Plagued By Faulty Pipe Issues, HDB Say ‘Nothing Wrong’

We were informed by residents of Sunshine garden in CCK of these recurring problems that is still left unsolved.

When there is a heavy rain the void deck of some blocks keep getting floods, this has happened quite a few times and it seems that nothing was done to it.

Although the flats are only a few months old, there are many units with the piping problem that gave the residents much headaches.

Sunshine Garden Problem 1 Sunshine Garden Problem 2

On one particular night many residents heard a big loud bang in the night and after which many units have a systematic looking hairline crack at the center of living room the cracks are aligned together with the bedrooms. They thought that these problems can’t be coincidental.

They had informed their town council and was referred instead to HDB and had told them that there is “nothing wrong” with this problem.

But why that PAP keep saying that this election is all about Town Council issues?

Teenage Gang Fight Leaves 13 Year Old With Bruises And Bleeding Eye

Stomper Goh‘s 13-year-old son was assaulted by a group of young teenagers at Choa Chu Kang when he tried to help a friend who was getting beaten up by the same group.

The incident took place in March last year but the Stomper only alerted Stomp to the incident today (Aug 24).

The Stomper’s son saw his friend getting kicked and punched ‘like a sandbag’ by a group of young teenagers consisting of two 13-year-olds and a 12-year-old.

The Stomper’s son then stepped in to stop the fight but ended up getting attacked by the group as well.

The assault would have continued if not for a group of Indian youths who came forward to stop the fight.

Goh’s son’s face was bleeding after the incident. He sustained cuts and bruises not only on his head but also his arms, body and legs.

The Stomper has made a police report regarding the incident but he was told that the three assailants will not be charged.
