Pinoy Manager At Basil By ThaiExpress Rolled Eyes At Customer Despite Late Order

A reader shared this bad experience with a Pinoy restaurant manager at Basil by ThaiExpress at Kallang Wave mall. Has anyone had the same experience with the outlet?

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST!!!! WORST SERVICE BY THE STAFF!!!!

I’ve been in F&B for awhile and I’ve never encountered such rude staff just for doing a follow up on the food. Do us all a favour and FIRE YOUR MANAGER NAMED LOVELY ASAP!!!! Seriously!

My BF approached her nicely asking for his food which was delayed for more than 35 minutes and guess what this smart ass lady replied “uhhhh” with a dumb face- and when he ask if she can do something about it like ask the kitchen she replied “yeah but doesn’t your table have the 3?” (We ordered 4 since there’s 4 of us). Worst part is when she hand over the last dish (45 minutes late) she rolled her eyes at us!!!!

Do your customers a favour and send her ass back to Philippines. Her attitude will surely kill your business and the customers who would just like to eat but instead had to wait ages and treated rudely by your pathetic excuse of a restaurant manager.

  • MOM Too Lax In Allowing Foreigners Wth Infectious Disease To Work Here?

MOM Too Lax In Allowing Foreigners Wth Infectious Disease To Work Here?

A NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) nurse from the Philippines who is a
chronic Hepatitis B virus (Hepatitis B reactive, but HBeAg Non-Reactive)
carrier is dreaming of having greener pastures abroad so as to increase her
    earning potential.

She is currently applying to work overseas, but realises that the Kingdom of
Saudi Arabia (KSA) is very strict in granting work visa to foreigners with
her medical condition to serve as nurses in the Kingdom, so she decides to
target Singapore and is seeking advice from her Kababayans here (See URLs
    below).

Hepatitis refers to the inflammation of the liver. Hepatitis can be caused by
viral infections, chemicals, drug abuse, some medications and immune
disorders. There are various forms of Viral Hepatitis including Hepatitis A,
B and C, which are caused by Hepatitis A, B, and C viruses, respectively.

Hepatitis B Infection is the most common infection of the liver. The majority
of infected individuals recover from Acute Hepatitis B infections and become
    immune to it.

However some people can develop a long-term Hepatitis B infection, which may
lead to serious complications including chronic hepatitis, liver failure,
    liver cancer and liver cirrhosis.

Hepatitis B virus is mainly found in the blood, and it can also be found in
    semen and vaginal secretions.

Hepatitis B can be acquired through:
    • Infected expecting mothers transmitting the infection to their newborn
    during childbirth (Perinatal)
    • Contact with an infected person (Horizontal)
    • Sharing contaminated injections among users
    • Unsafe sexual contact with an infected person
    • Blood-to-blood exposure to blood or other infected fluids (Parenteral)

Subject to the outcome of their medical examinations, all foreigners seeking
works in Singapore are screened for only 4 types of infectious disease
(tuberculosis, HIV, syphilis and malaria) before they are certified fit to
work here. However, no medical examination is needed for foreigners on Work
Holiday Pass, Malaysian confinement nannies, Training Work Permit,
    Miscellaneous Work Pass).

Anecdotal evidence suggest that foreigners with Hepatitis B Infection have no
problems getting various work passes from the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) (See
    URL below).
    http://www.pinoysg.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=68&t=40757&start=0

The World Health Organization has a list of groups of people who are at risk
of contracting Hepatitis B including health care workers, patients and employees in
haemodialysis centres, people sharing unsterile medical or dental equipment
    etc.

Migrant workers in other countries are subject to Hepatitis testing before
the governments will grant them work passes.

For instance, Malaysia has a more stringent medical screening process
compared to Singapore (See URL below).
    http://www.fomema.com.my/index.php/medical-screening-process
    http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/malaysia/article/more-foreign-workers…

In Qatar, pre-arrival Hepatitis testing are compulsory for all foreign
    workers (See URL below).
    http://portal.www.gov.qa/wps/portal/media-center/news/individualnews/pre…

However, according to our Ministry Of Health, there is no need to ban
foreigners working in Singapore who are hepatitis B carriers (See URL below).
    https://www.moh.gov.sg/content/moh_web/home/pressRoom/Media_Forums/2010/…

Foreigners who wish to work in Singapore may get a medical examination done
through an established clinic/hospital here. Most clinics in Singapore
provide medical examination and report within a day. Completed medical
examination forms or health declaration forms (For Employment Pass, Training
Employment Pass, EntrePass, Dependent’s Pass, Long Term Visit Pass only)
will be attached with the candidates’ in-principle approval letters to the
Ministry of Manpower for their work pass issuance.

Should Singaporeans be concerned with the current medical examination
procedures with physical examination like blood pressure, chest and abdominal
examination, blood test, etc. as routine tests and screening for only 4 types
of infectious diseases. i.e. Tuberculosis, HIV, Syphilis and Malaria
(Hepatitis excluded) before work passes are approved?

    What do you think?

Beware Of This Filipino FT Cheat, Do Not Ever Rent Your Home To Him

    Dear Editors,

I am writing to you about an article of a guy that has con a number of people and is still at large. This is the story His name is Ernesto Jr Delas LLAGas Dcruz. Currently he is on work permit for the past few years

This man in the photo has lived in my house for years. Initially he used to pay rent on time for the past 2 years but lately he has been stalling payment for quite some time and has not returned the money back. Apart from that he borrowed from my mother a certain amount. As he had been staying in my house for very long she thought nothing of it and just helped him out. Little did we know that this guy had borrowing from my mum a lot of cash and also he has not paid rent for a number of months. He kept delaying payment and at the same time my mum couldn’t collect from him as she didn’t see him often.

This guy has left that he was staying, but the thing is he has gone around borrowing from licensed money lenders which they have been coming to my place for the past few months, with the amount he has borrowed. The letters of him borrowing the amount is constantly being sent to my place.

He has also cheated a number of people for money by saying that his family is in ICU. He cheated his gf of a lump sum of money amounting to $50000.I am not sure of the number of people he has cheated. But I am pretty sure he has borrowed a lot from a number of people especially from licensed money lenders.

Currently I have made a police report on this guy but I would like to urge all those who know him and know of his whereabouts to report it to the police, so that we can help those people whom he cheated the money to gain back the amount loss.

Anyone who has been cheated by him please do make a police and report and to whoever is sheltering him , please make a police report so that we can help apprehend this guy.

  • Beware! Do Not Hire This Filipino Maid Who Stole From Employer

Beware! Do Not Hire This Filipino Maid Who Stole From Employer

    <Complaint by Michelle Yu-Tan>

Dear all, this was my previous helper here in Singapore. Her name is Laurence Angela Lardizabal Soria and might go for the last name Perez. I would just like to make a public note that we had already sent her back home to the Philippines after 3 offenses of lying and stealing from us.

She is from Batangas San Jose. After giving her a chance the first and second time round, the last offence she commited was stealing money from my wallet. Although she already confessed for taking the money when confronted before sending her back, we were surprised that no apologies was even said.

Please be aware of who she really is and if you happen to know someone who would think of hiring her, think again. If you have valuables, it will disappear.

Please do me a favour to share this and spread it out so it may reach everywhere in the world. Who knows, her next destination might be in your country.

  • Filipino Nurse Ello Ed Mundsel Bello Convited Under Sedition Act

Filipino Nurse Ello Ed Mundsel Bello Convited Under Sedition Act

Philippine national Ello Ed Mundsel Bello, 28, who made disparaging remarks about Singaporeans onFACEBOOK earlier this year, pleaded guilty to three charges on Wednesday (Aug 26).

He was convicted on one count under the Sedition Act, for promoting feelings of ill-will and hostility, and on two counts of providing false information to police. An additional charge under the Sedition Act, and another for lying to police, will be taken into consideration during sentencing.

In hisFACEBOOK post, Bello called Singaporeans “loosers (sic) in their own country”. “We take theirJOBS, their future, their women, and soon, we will evict all SG loosers out of their own country”, Bello added, saying that Singapore would be the “new Filipino state”.

The Filipino also stated that he would be “praying that disastors (sic) strike Singapore and more Singaporeans will die”. He will “celebrate” if this happens, he said.

He ended his Facebook post with the declaration: “REMEMBER PINOY BETTER AND STRONGER THAN STINKAPOREANS.”

Bello did this while employed as a nurse at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, which subsequently dismissed him over the incident, after discovering through their own investigations that Bello had made three other online posts in the same vein in 2014.

In court on Wednesday, Deputy Public Prosecutor Kumaresan Gohubalan said that Bello’s comments were “xenophobic, derogatory and inflammatory” in nature, further aggravated by the fact that his comments were published to “an enormous audience”, and that Bello displayed a total lack of remorse for his actions.

Investigations revealed that he had regularly commented on reports and articles relating to Singapore, often in a “vile, derogatory and offensive” nature, and on sensitive issues such as race and nationality.

Bello’s comments came under the spotlight when they were posted on The Kaki News Network, aFACEBOOK page with a significant public following of 30,000FACEBOOKusers. The comments went viral, and were also the subject of several police reports made against Bello.

Alarmed by the hostility generated by his comments, Bello deleted them, and lodged a report with police, stating that he was “shocked and furious that these comments had been attributed to him”.

He told police on three occasions that he did not make the offending comments on Facebook, and that hisACCOUNT had been accessed without his permission. Bello only admitted to his lies in his fourth statement to police, when “he found he could not keep up the lie”, Bello’s lawyer, Mark Goh, said.

Mr Goh also told the court that as the “delicate golden threads” of race and religion that bind Singaporean society had not been touched on by his client’s comments, Bello should be granted a lower sentence of six weeks, as opposed to the prosecution’s submission of 20 weeks’ imprisonment.

In response, DPP Kumaresan told the court that comments of this nature are “detrimental to society” and “cannot be trivialized or underestimated”, especially in a cosmopolitan society like Singapore.

Bello will be sentenced on Sep 16.

For promoting feelings of ill-will and hostility between different races or classes of the population of Singapore, Bello could have received a fine of up to S$5,000 or a jailTERM of up to three years, or both.

For giving false information to police, Bello could have faced a jailTERM of up to one year, a fine of up to S$5,000, or both.
