Gunmen Open Fire On Muslims Outside French Mosque, Eight Injured

Two gunmen injured eight people after opening fire on a group of Muslims outside of a French mosque Sunday.

The group was exiting the house of worship in the southern French city of Avignon at about 10:30 p.m. when the gunmen, who were reportedly wearing masks, opened fire.

Two of the eight wounded were hospitalized after the incident, according to the source, who also said that worshipers leaving the mosque had not been the intended target.

Sources told Reuters the gunmen were trying to settle a score with someone else, and a judicial source told the La Provence regional newspaper that officials are “not at all treating it as terrorist related” and instead suspect it stemmed from a dispute between youths.

Four people were wounded outside the mosque while a family of four in their apartment about 50 yards away took shrapnel, La Provence said.

Police arrested a man in the Paris suburb of Creteil last week after he tried to drive car into a crowd in front of a mosque.

  • Nuradillah Zakbah – Meet The Singaporean Accidental Mediator Who Brought Peace Between An African American And PRC Family In France

Nuradillah Zakbah – Meet The Singaporean Accidental Mediator Who Brought Peace Between An African American And PRC Family In France

A Singaporean woman used her language skills to mediate a misunderstanding between an African American man and a group of Chinese tourists in France’s Charles de Gaulle airport on Saturday (Nov 5).

Ms Nuradillah Zakbah, 31, was in Paris for a seven-hour stopover, enroute to Portugal where she was attending a conference. She works as a creative technologist at an advertising agency.

She was in a queue at immigration in front of an African American tourist and a group of Chinese tourists when she heard a commotion behind her.

“As I turned around, this rather tall African American man made eye contact with me and said ‘Can you believe this? This group of people just called me a n**ger!’” she told The Straits Times.

The Chinese group, comprising of two men and three women, were puzzled as to why they were being scolded, and the two parties started quarrelling, she said.

“And a man I assumed to be the grandfather of the group was pointing his fingers and shouting back at the American man,” she added.

“That was when I realised that the Chinese tourists had said the word ‘that’ (na ge) in Mandarin a few times in their conversation, which sounds like the word ‘n**ger’. Therefore the American tourist might have misunderstood them.”

Ms Nuradillah, who is Malay, told The Straits Times she intervened on the “spur of the moment”.

“I had to explain to him (the American man) that he misunderstood – and had to explain to him that I understood a little bit of Mandarin to know that they were saying or pointing to ‘that thing’ (na ge) instead of calling him the derogatory term,” she told The Straits Times.

She also explained the misunderstanding to the Chinese group “in the best broken Mandarin” she could. She asked them to forgive him and move on from the situation.

After her intervention, both sides were slightly embarrassed and shook hands and apologised.

She also explained to an airport security guard in her “broken French” that the incident was just a misunderstanding.

Where did Ms Nuradillah pick up her language skills?

“I picked up Chinese from friends growing up, reading subtitles on Channel 8 dramas and also went to a basic Mandarin course at 18 – to prepare myself for the workforce back then,” she said.

Ms Nuradillah recounted the incident on her Facebook on Saturday and the post has since received numerous comments that praise her act

Through this episode, Ms Nuradillah also realised the importance of living in a multicultural society.

“I thought that it was just really cool to be able to help others out because I’m a Singaporean. That was the time that I was extremely thankful to have lived and grown up in a place that exposed me to a diversity of cultures and languages,” she said.

  • Wanita Muslim Disuruh Tanggalkan Hijab Di Pantai, Didera Secara Perkauman

Wanita Muslim Disuruh Tanggalkan Hijab Di Pantai, Didera Secara Perkauman

ISIS Terrorist Murdered French Police Commander & Wife In Front Of 3 Year Old Son, Act Streamed Live On FB

A man who was previously convicted of terrorism and pledged allegiance to ISIS killed a French police commander and his partner at their home in Magnanville in an horrific attack France’s president says was “incontestably” a “terrorist act.”

Larossi Abballa, 25, posted video of the killing online during the rampage, referencing the so-called Islamic State, The Guardian reports.

The officer was named as Jean-Baptiste Salvaing. His partner has not yet been identified, but she was also a police employee.

Abballa, who was born in France and called himself Mohamed Ali on Facebook, was killed in a SWAT raid that saved the slain couple’s 3-year-old son, who was being held hostage inside the home, authorities said.

The attack came as France hosts the 2016 UEFA European Championship soccer tournament and is in a heightened state of security as a result. The country has been under a state of emergency since the November 2015 attacks in Paris by ISIS terrorists.

    Magnaville is west of Paris.

Abballa live streamed the attack on Facebook Live. The video and his Facebook page were deleted, but it has been distributed online by ISIS propagandists.

In the 12-minute video he expressed his allegiance to ISIS and its leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. At one point in the video, Abballa referenced the police officer’s 3-year-old son, who he was holding hostage.

“I don’t know what I’m going to do with the boy,” Abballa said. Police later raided the home, killing Abballa and saving the boy.

Three knives used in the attack were found at the police officer’s home.

Abballa was sentenced to three years in prison for “criminal association in view to preparing terrorist attacks,” for recruiting jihadis to Pakistan and Afghanistan, The Guardian reports.

He was 20 at the time of that 2011 conviction and was released from prison in September 2013.

Abballa was more recently investigated by French authorities and was on a watch list, according to officials. He was being monitored for being part of the entourage of a French man who had recently traveled to Syria.

    4. An Official ISIS News Agency Called Abballa an ‘Islamic State Fighter’

In a statement, the ISIS Amaq news agency said “Islamic State fighter kills deputy chief of the police station in the city of Les Mureaux and his wife.”

The phrasing of the statement is similar to one posted after the terrorist attack in Orlando, Florida. In both messages the killer was referred to as an “Islamic State fighter.”

In Orlando, the FBI is investigating whether gunman Omar Mateen had any official ties to ISIS. Like Abballa, Mateen pledged allegiance to ISIS during his attack at Pulse, a gay nightclub. Mateen killed 49 people and wounded 53 others before he was shot dead during a police raid.

  • Muslim Convert In France Refuses To Sell Clothes To Women On Weekdays

Muslim Convert In France Refuses To Sell Clothes To Women On Weekdays

When Jean-Baptiste Michalon posted a notice on the outside of his general store last year, he hardly imagined that it would create a national outcry.

“Sisters on Saturdays and Sundays only,” the note read. Michalon’s message to customers in the French city of Bordeaux: Women were welcome only on weekends. Men could shop on weekdays.

On Tuesday, a court fined Michalon $560 for making such a distinction, despite his argument that he had posted the sign to protect his wife, who was also working in the store, and other women.

“We put this in place at the request of the sisters who preferred when my wife was behind the counter. It is a shop where we sell clothes,” Michalon, who converted to Islam four years ago, told the French news agency Agence France-Presse last year.

Following the outrage created by his note, the Frenchman closed his store and “admitted it was a blunder and tactless,” according to a statement from his lawyer.

Local politicians and Muslim leaders stressed that Michalon’s behavior did not represent mainstream opinions. The city’s mayor, Alain Juppé, a former prime minister of France, called the practice “discriminatory.”

Multiple studies have also found a growing problem with racism in France, mainly directed toward Muslims, who are believed to constitute about 7 percent of the French population. Muslims frequently complain that they have a hard time getting jobs, but conservative French commentators and politicians have emphasized that the country should not give up its founding promises of equality in order to please radical Islamists.
