Man Suspected Of Stealing From Grab Private Hire Car Has Been Arrested

A 27-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly stealing S$450 from a Grab private hire car, the police said on Friday (Aug 4).

Jurong Police Division officers arrested the suspect on Thursday after “extensive enquiries and through the aid of images from CCTVs”, it said in a news release, adding that police investigations are ongoing.

A video of the incident had also gone viral online recently.

The authorities advised taxis and private-hire car drivers to take precautionary measures, including avoiding putting personal valuables, including mobile phones, at or near the vehicles’ centre consoles or places within the easy reach of passengers, and being vigilant in safeguarding personal valuables.

“Be wary of anyone who may try to distract you,” it said in the release.

Anyone convicted of theft may be punished with jail of up to 3 years, or a fine, or both.

  • Thomas Who Criticised Dead Traffic Police Officer Arrested For Shop Theft

Thomas Who Criticised Dead Traffic Police Officer Arrested For Shop Theft

The man who was widely criticised for his comments about a Traffic Police officer who was killed on duty was arrested on Sunday (Jun 4) – albeit over an entirely different matter.

Thomas Chua Poh Heng, 39, was arrested for alleged shop theft at a department store along Syed Alwi Road, police said in a news release in the early hours of Monday.

The incident took place at 5.37am on Sunday. In-house security officers detained Chua outside the store with an unpaid item and handed him over to the police.

Chua was already under investigation for three other separate police reports lodged against him since January, police said, adding that investigations into these cases were still ongoing.

Channel NewsAsia understands that the offences include shop thefts and traffic violations.

Chua earlier claimed that he received traffic violations from Nadzrie Matin, the police officer who was killed in a traffic accident while on duty and gloated over the officer’s death. Chua’s comments, made on Facebook, were roundly condemned by Law and Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam as an “insult to all police officers“.

Police told Channel NewsAsia that Chua did receive traffic summonses but confirmed that none of them were issued by the officer who died.

“The remarks were hurtful and unfair to not only our officers but to his friends, family and loved ones as well. However, we remain objective and professional in our dealing with Thomas Chua,” a police spokesman said to Channel NewsAsia.

Give Free Food To Foreign Workers Because #itfeelsgoodtodogood

Was at Starbucks this afternoon to get coffee for tennis-weary parents when I saw the counter staff clearing away all the food as they were closing.

I asked if they would let me take it away for migrant workers and they sweetly agreed. So they handed me 2 bags of pastries, muffins and sandwiches (all very kindly warmed up) and I was lucky enough to find workers right down the road.

The workers were delighted of course, and as I turned back after handing them the food I saw them all happily snacking, sitting on the pavement.

Am going to try and do this every Saturday at 4pm (closing time for this Starbucks) if I can. And any of you who are at a food-bearing venue near closing time, do try it because ‪#‎itfeelsgoodtodogood‬.

Topik menarik perhatian saya dalam singamaksima. Saya ingin berkongsi pengalaman peribadi saya.

Auntie yang melanggar saya kelihatan marah, bingit tapi saya kata baik-baik I will call you dan beredar pergi.

Bukan apa tak sampai hati pula nak menyusahkan orang lain. Hari ini kita buat orang takut lain kali kita pula kena cukup-cukup dengan orang lain.
