    LTA: No Collision On The Sengkang LRT Line

    You might have come across a The Straits Times article today about 2 LRT trains colliding on the Sengkang line last evening (3 Jul 2017).

    LTA and SBS Transit Ltd would like to clarify that the article is erroneous and misleading, as there was no collision on the Sengkang LRT system.

    The incident last evening involved a coupled two-car train which had stalled in between the Sengkang Town Centre and Renjong Stations. The two Light Rail Vehicles were travelling as one train on the system.

    The sudden stalling may have caused some passengers who were not holding onto the standing poles/grab bars to lose their balance, and may have given the wrong impression that the trailing train-car had hit the one in front. SBS Transit staff subsequently reset the fault and manually drove the coupled train to Renjong Station to detrain passengers safely.

    2 Sengkang Line LRT Trains Collide

    A Light Rail Transit (LRT) train reportedly collided with the train in front of it along the Sengkang line at 7.08pm yesterday, according to citizen journalism site Stomp.

    A female passenger, going by the name Hong, told Stomp that the LRT she was on stopped abruptly to reduce the impact of the collision.

    She added that several passengers who had not been holding on to the grab bars or handles fell down due to the impact.

    “One woman fell on me and I quickly held her to stop her from falling,” she said. “Thankfully, no one was hurt.”

    After the collision, the two trains remained stuck for about 15 minutes – both the lights and air-conditioning were switched off during this period. After 15 minutes, the trains began to move slowly towards Renjong station.

    Brave SCDF Bro Injured In Explosion Of Taxi Blaze Discharged, Recuperating

    Each day, SCDF Emergency Responders, like him, brave countless challenges in the line of duty to protect and save lives and property.

    The injured firefighter who sustained minor burns had just been discharged from hospital and is recuperating.

    We wish him a speedy recovery.

    SCDF was alerted to a vehicle fire along Commonwealth Ave (near the junction with North Buona Vista Road) at about 1415hrs.

    SCDF dispatched 1 Fire Engine, 2 Fire Bikes, 1 Red Rhino and 2 Ambulances to the location. The fire which involved a taxi was extinguished by SCDF using 2 water jets and a Compressed Air Foam backpack.

    During the firefighting operation, an explosion occurred from the burning taxi, injuring 4 persons including an SCDF firefighter. All of them sustained minor injuries and were conveyed to the National University Hospital by SCDF ambulances.

    Preliminary investigations by the SCDF and the Police revealed the likely cause of the explosion was due to the road traffic accident. The investigations by SCDF, Police and LTA are ongoing.

    Taxi driver still got face to claim medical when he can shout vulgarities like f my Mother and he even want to punch me. This shows clearly he is perfectly fine what. Where got need medical attention when he can be so drama. He tried to call 999 too. ?!? Is this taxi driver on drugs or what?     Taxi driver also unwilling to cooperate by giving me identification card to take down his particulars. So now he know how I am but I don’t even know who is he. Is he even the rightful hirer ? #winliaolor

    Contact comfort but the CSO mentioned they will try not to agitate the driver in case they return car and join Uber / Grab. LOL

    After which he fled the scene after his speech filled with dirty vugalrities. #liddatcanmeh Just received the attached letter from his lawyer and the damages stated $12,000 siol.

    We need to stop taxi driver from all this foul play ! Making people bang on their rear by jam braking or don’t give way when you want to filter out than they bang you hard. Of course last but not least, how to get $12,000?

    Man Died After Hit By Train At Bukit Panjang LRT

    A man died after he was hit by a train on the Bukit Panjang LRT early Friday (March 24) morning.

    The Straits Times understands that the man had fallen onto the track at Fajar Station around 1am.

    The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it received a call for assistance at 1.05am and sent one fire engine and one ambulance.

    “A male Chinese was pronounced dead at scene by paramedics,” SCDF said.

    While many residents said they did not notice anything unusual last night, some heard noises from the station.

    “I heard a scratching noise and a boom around 1am, but I thought it was just workers working,” said domestic helper Ms Asrotulida, who goes by one name.

    “I didn’t look to see what happened, and went back to sleep as it was late,” said the 30-year-old, who lives near the station. “Sometimes, there is noise due to the works downstairs.”

    When ST visited Fajar station on Friday morning, services appeared to be operating as per normal.
