Commando Melayu – Bangga Dapat Peluang Jadi Commando

Senaman Cabaran Komando dilakukan sekitar dua kali seminggu.

  • Why Are The Malay/Muslims Attending The Annual Pink Dot?

Why Are The Malay/Muslims Attending The Annual Pink Dot?

The upcoming Pink Dot that celebrates the freedom to love for anyone regardless of their identity and sexual orientation, is scheduled to take place this Saturday, 1st July 2017 at 5 PM at Hong Lim Park. Since the inaugural launch of Pink Dot in Singapore in 2009 that only allows Singaporeans and Permanent Residents (PR) to participate in the “Pink Picnic”, the number of participants have increased annually. With the increase in the number of participants yearly, there is also a growing number of Malay groups and individuals who attend the Pink Dot (and a large number of them are likely gay because the males posed in effeminate manner while butches are also a plenty). Well, you can argue that not all Malays are Muslims, but majority of Muslims in Singapore are Malays. Afterall, the Malays are synonymous with being Muslims and vice versa. Here are some photos from previous Pink Dot picnics that show some Malays attending:

Ramadan has just left us, and it will be a week since Ramadan left us this Saturday. Do we still want to see our Malay groups and individuals participating in such unIslamic practices to recognize and encourage homosexuality in our Malay community? Even if you say that you are a heterosexual and attending the Pink Dot picnic to give your support to your gay friends (whether Muslims or non-Muslims) or family members, isn’t this against the Islamic teachings that you are abetting with the sinner, or being part of the sinners because you are celebrating Pink Dot?

  • Halimah Yacob Does Not Confirm Running For Elected Presidency

Halimah Yacob Does Not Confirm Running For Elected Presidency

With eight constituencies and many invitations from different organisations to break fast, Madam Halimah Yacob said her days have been packed all the way till Hari Raya, and time with family has been hard to come by.

The mother of five children, all in their 20s and 30s, said she is thankful her family “accepts” her schedule.

“I’ve broken fast at home on only a few days, all the rest of the days have been out,” she said.

She was quick to add that she does enjoy breaking fast outside, particularly with her residents.

Madam Halimah said that sometimes she does not even have time to have a proper meal between events.

During such moments, she shared that she slips into nearby mosques “incognito”.

“The good thing is that every mosque here provides something to eat, so it’s quite interesting to break fast and then perform my maghrib (evening) prayers before I go off to my event,” she said.

In 2015, on Polling Day, Madam Halimah’s mother died as she was doing her rounds. This year will be the second Hari Raya that she will be celebrating without her, but it never gets easier.

Said Madam Halimah: “What I miss about mum is her presence. Sitting there, she used to sit on the sofa, just having her there would mean tremendous comfort because she’s been the pillar of strength for me all the while.”

Hari Raya is not just a time to celebrate family, but to also remember the loved ones lost, as she pointed out.

With a laugh Madam Halimah said: “I cook lontong for breakfast every Hari Raya morning. So the children have asked me this year if I am going to cook and I told them I will see how.

“But no lah, I will make it this year, every year I will cook it.”

Other than lontong, Madam Halimah is looking forward to having time for herself this festive weekend.

“That’s the wonderful thing about Hari Raya, at least the first two days will be off limits,” she said.

When asked if she sees herself becoming busier in the future, on account of the upcoming presidential election which she is widely rumoured to be considering, Madam Halimah laughed, reiterating that she had a lot on her plate.

“I’ve been very busy actually. My time is really packed and, of course, in Parliament as Speaker the last few years have been very packed,” she chuckled.

“Our Members of Parliament have been pretty active filing motions and so on, so that has kept me pretty busy.”

  • Maliki Osman: No Room For Islamophobia In Singapore

Maliki Osman: No Room For Islamophobia In Singapore

There is no place for Islamophobia or any similar attitude against other religions here, as this would harm the social cohesion Singapore has built up over the years, said Senior Minister of State for Defence and Foreign Affairs Maliki Osman.

He related a recent incident yesterday to illustrate how Islamophobia has crept into the community here, in a climate where acts of terrorism and extremism make headlines regularly.

A few weeks ago, a Malay pest controller checking for mosquitoes outside a home was shooed away by a Chinese resident who suggested he could be a terrorist, he said.

“He tried to explain that he was just trying to do his job, and she (said) ‘no, no, no, I hear so much things about terrorism and terrorists, you better go’,” said Dr Maliki, adding that the incident shocked and saddened him.

“The last thing we want is incidents like this where the inter-ethnic cohesion that we have built for so long, is divided by people who have the wrong understanding of the Muslim community,” he said.

He urged people who know of such incidents to come forward, as such views cannot be allowed to “take root in the minds of Singaporeans”.
