    Modern Malay Wedding: Full Karaoke Session, Groupies, Gangster Rituals And “Wedding Critics”

    If attending a Malay Wedding meant for you to take turns singing and showing off your vocal talent and choosing the most ridiculous unrealistic songs ever, then you are missing the whole point of attending a Wedding. And best of all eating still when the bride and groom arrived displaying ignorance and being disrespectful. Agree not but the Malay Wedding has become a Karaoke session recently. With their grating voice coming from the nose and flat, I wonder what they are smoking before holding those microphone. And most of the time they sounded depressed over the mic instead of singing and all you want to do is throw your fork and spoon at them. I can only feel sorry for these people and those who had to listen while eating and who too could easily choked to death.

    Let’s move on to the way the young people dress – MAT & MINAH. Seriously where are your customs and values? I don’t care how “Gangster” you are or how cool you want to look like but this is someone’s Wedding (I hope you were really invited). Boys you don’t wear bermudas with short sleeves showing off your tattoos swinging your god knows what Logo stickers paste all over your helmet. And girls you don’t wear tight ripped jeans with short sleeves and snicker! And tie up that nasty looking gold yellow hair if you can’t set it nicely please, really.
    What’s wrong with you people? You go to school? Watch TV at least? No?
    I believe you do somehow in that tiny little brain have seen somewhere how the Malay Traditional cloths or a decent cloths people dress for this occasion. You for sure have no respect for the elderly people there, the family members and relatives of the b&g, neither do you have any respect for yourself.

    And then we have those “free lance critics”taking notes about the whole event, from the food to the bride & groom attire. seriously, go kill yourself or attend a funeral. They save money for this special day so shut up and eat or go home drink Dettol and die nicely near your toilet seat.

    Finally, the “groupies” with the same printed logo T-Shirt from Queensway Shopping Center marching in like a Rugby team chanting some kind of poem that gives them a “Super natural power”. Singapore Sports Hub is it? What’s up with that? What are you resembling again? Which community? What group? Groupon? I thought groupies were from the 80s. Next time we all shall clap for them and throw flowers.

    Listen, we all know that Malay Wedding are held mostly in the neighbourhood void deck/halls where everyone could see. And we are quick to react and get upset when other race comment about how we behave, the noise level the ridiculous behaviour and the list could go on. But the fact is, people like this gives the Malay a bad name.

    But of course having said all this, there are those respectful ones though who dress accordingly and behave properly. They are what we call, Civilised people.

    I am not spreading hate here. I am a proud Malay myself. But I feel some of us have tolerated a lot of this kind of nonsense. Not cool man, not cool.

    #So much of preserving our culture.

    Unless you are a foreigner, or have been living under rock, almost everyone will notice that Singapore is a multiracial and multireligious society.

    This did not stop an anonymous netizen from asking a potentially seditious question on Quora.

    He wrote: “What are the best areas to live in Singapore with as little Muslims as possible?”

    The result was a flurry of witty responses that only Singaporeans can give.

    One netizen wrote: “Try Orchard road. A little expensive than your normal neighbourhoods but really, there are Muslims in every area possible and they avoid Orchard road for more than the economic reasons. If Orchard road area is too steep for you, you can consider migrating. Or try to live in harmony like a Singaporean will.”

    Another helpful netizen suggested an unlikely but fitting venue.

    “You want to live in an area of Singapore with as few Muslims as possible?

    I got one for you.

    It’s a place with open fields and fresh air. You’re surrounded by nature and it’s really peaceful staying there.

    It’s the area around 920 Old Choa Chu Kang Road. Only Christians reside here. There’s not a single Muslim there.”

    And then there are netizens who seem to pluck statistics out of a hole no one can see.

    “Public housing in Singapore has racial quota. The effect is that, all public housing estates have similar ratio of Chinese, Indian, and Malay. Very few Chinese are Muslims, not many Indians are Muslims (there are not that many Indians, anyway), and most Malays are Muslims (but Malays are not that numerous, either). Thus, all public housing estates don’t have many Muslims.

    Private housing, on the other hand, has no racial quota. However, Muslims in Singapore tend to be less well-off (to use the polite term), and thus you will less likely see them in private housing.”

    When you cross into JB, Malaysia for you shopping trips, always check your passport when the customs return to you. See this passport stamp, malaysia customs chop the passport but put the date as 32 April? Where in the world have date 32 April?

    Malaysia is really boleh. You need to be vigilant and check your passports or you will have problem exiting Malaysia later and they will detain you for this error!

    Beware! Do not be lazy!

    Malaysia Youth & Sports Minister: Bumiputra University Quotas Insult Malays

    KUALA LUMPUR: Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said Malays should view the quota system for entry into local universities as “insulting”.

    “These quotas and all that, some of it is in Article 153 in the constitution. I have been telling my Malay community, I said, ‘You know, one day, you should actually aspire, even before 2050, aspire to be in the university without quota’,” the Umno Youth leader told a dialogue on the National Transformation Plan 2050 with Indian youths at the Putra World Trade Center here today.

    “We should start seeing this quota (system) as something that is a bit insulting, that we need quota to get somewhere.”

    His comments came after a participant said he hoped that the quota system for Bumiputeras in the country would one day be removed.

    “Just as there is a perception of discrimination amongst other communities, we also feel that maybe we are not that good, because other communities are saying that, ‘Hey you are here only because of the quota’.

    “I want the Malay community to complete on a level playing field. That’s my aspiration,” said Khairy.

    The dialogue session was organised by MIC Youth as well as several Indian youth NGOs.

    Pioneer Leader Othman Wok Gets Special Mention During Friday Prayers At Mosques

    The late pioneer Cabinet minister Othman Wok was remembered by Muslims at prayers on Friday (April 21) in mosques across the island.

    Mr Othman, who died on Monday (April 17) at the age of 92, received special mention in the second sermon for his contributions to racial harmony in Singapore.

    “Racial harmony does not come easy. It requires courage, countless sacrifices, and careful planning from various individuals and community leaders. Among those who have significantly contributed to the growth and development of this nation is the late Mr Othman Wok,” the sermon said.

    “His efforts in spearheading the development of multiracial policies have established Singapore as a successful pluralistic society.”

    Mr Othman was the first Malay Cabinet minister in independent Singapore and was committed to multiracialism, despite intense pressure from Malay supremacists in the 1960s.

    In the sermon, which was prepared by the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (Muis) to be delivered by imams at all 71 mosques in Singapore, worshippers were reminded of their role in preserving the peace that Mr Othman worked to build.

    “Maintaining peace and harmony is especially crucial for a country with a multiracial society like Singapore. As such, it is imperative that we continue playing our roles in ensuring the preservation of peace and harmony that we have so enjoyed thus far,” the sermon said.

    The racial riots of the 1960s are a reminder of the importance of socio-religious harmony, and maintaining this is a shared national responsibility, not just that of the country’s leaders, the sermon also said.

    “We need to ensure that future generations have the opportunity to enjoy the peace and harmony that we have so inherited… May the efforts of the late Mr Othman Wok spark interest in our hearts and the future generations to contribute to the betterment of our state and religion,” it added.

    Mr Othman received a state-assisted funeral, and was buried at Choa Chu Kang Muslim Cemetery on Tuesday. A memorial service was held in his honour on Wednesday at Victoria Concert Hall.
