At first when Rilek1Corner published articles on a MLM/Pyramid/Ponzi/GRQ company, I was furious becos I had just joined in and it would affect my prospecting.

True as it is, the prospects started canceling meetings and there were even people who stood me up. I just had a newborn baby and had to leave her for this meeting every night to accompany prospects to view the presentations. I took cabs there. I needed to pay for the trainings that they provided which is just to teach you how to use the website and how to persuade your family, friends and strangers to join in as well which requires you endless of postings and the annoying random tagging Facebook friends (Ya that was taught in the training).

And if you need flyers that only published some Caucasian family with USD notes in it (it was said that the company is branched out into Asia regions and the base is here so why not picture our locals and not some photo ripped off from Google) and name cards, you also need to pay for that. They are all not inclusive in their expensive membership fees. The application forms for your prospects are also DIY and you need to print them on your own. Rich company with cheap ideas.

It was a requirement to have such huge capitals to join. There were small and big boards. Sound like a money game right? That is why some individuals have views that it is similar to gambling which is quite true to me now. You risk thousands of dollars in it and if your board is stuck and no one in your board recruits anyone, you will forever be at the same position you joined in and don’t get any returns at all.

    10386918_715491441825642_2130147276672952080_o

    10174934_1498614700354570_5682461415769158069_n

The people who take photos with lots of money make it looks so easy. They are people who already have connections with people who have money. Thus they can create their own network bigger and faster than the ones who do not have connections. Sometimes it is also becos they were from a different MLM company and dragged the others to join in the new ones. It is like a fad. These group of people will keep changing their attentions and try all other platforms in MLM industry to make money out of others’ hard earned money.

This particular MLM company has their members posting that you need not sell anything when their membership is inclusive with “motivational” ebooks written by an author who is a Minister in the United States in the 16th century. They said it is not an MLM company becos it is not like other companies that requires you to sell various products with targets and the uplines profiting in your sales.

How can it be not an Multi-Level Marketing company when they have 4 levels in each board?

And in order for you to get your payout you have to be at the top and it does not matter if the vacant boxes are filled up by you or other members in the board. Once you are at the very top, and the empty boxes are filled, you get your payout.

So aren’t you profiting on other member’s efforts? If it is not pyramid scheme, why is the board in a shape of a pyramid?

A matrix board system is a modified pyramid scheme. They claimed that the company originated from Canada for 26 years but the company registry was done in 2013, also in British Virgin Islands. Contradicting isnt it? When asked where the other members in other parts of the world other than Asia, they will say we can only access the website which is only in our region. Strange isn’t it now? Members also asked who the founder in Canada is. No one has the answers and instead we were told that we are not allowed to acknowledge who the founder is becos afraid that competitor companies will spoil the market. More question marks now.

Till date, no one cld tell any truth about it. When someone tries to speak up, they will threaten you that they file a lawsuit against you for defamation. If it is legal and lawful, why is the company not registered in Singapore itself after so many commotions? They will tell you it is becos SG will tax us and we will receive low payouts. So? If anything happens, you have no one to turn to becos it is not a registered company here.

The thing is with people who are involved in MLM, they will fish you in by sweet talking, be it family members, relatives, friends or just strangers. Telling you that there are no other “good” platforms as such anywhere in the country. When you join, they leave you 100% on your own and expect you to do your work. If you don’t get to recruit anyone, they will accuse you of sleeping or not doing your work. Trust me, it had been dozens of times me going up and down their office to accompany prospects and many turned me down.

Criticisms over the social media on what I was doing. It was a waste of so much money. People joining in with hopes to get rich but in the end losing money. What the pioneers or the successful ones are doing, they just keep going and leave the unlucky ones behind. Telling you it is all rezeki/fate that you dont get your money back. If you give up, they even block you in FB becos they deem you as a negative person.

Seriously? As uplines or pioneers, you should guide and help. Not leave us. Clearly shown how people can be nice to you for money and nasty when they receive your money. Instantly you become an enemy to them. Why show others photos of the same people? How about the unsuccessful ones? They tell you 1k-2k members has gotten their payouts so why is it less than 1% of the “successful” members’ testimonials published in the website?

Learn this as a lesson and DO NOT GET DUPED!!

    EDITOR’S NOTE

Again Rilek1Corner would like to take this opportunity to remind dear readers about get-rich quick schemes (GRQ) and its many guises – MLM, Pyramid, Ponzi, Board, Matrix, Pigeon, etc.

Just like human beings, these GRQs come in many fancy names. But there will always be two constant characteristics: (i) the recruitment of new members, and (ii) you are required to pay some money upfront. This money can be in the form of membership fee, registration fee, or some admin charges. It is just a simple reason for them to take your hard-earned money.

Remember, your hard-earned money is your money. Learn to appreciate. Instead of giving to strangers, might as well spend it on your family and loved ones. Unless you strike a lottery, no one gets rich in an instant.

If people say they are wealth experts, why are they still staying in public housing? Why aren’t they employed as ministers and coming out with policies to help Singaporeans if they are really that great? Why aren’t they being headhunted by banks and other MNCs to help generate money?

Instead they target commoners like you and us.

Please save your money. Keep it for rainy days.

Ramadhan is approaching soon. Let’s not fool our friends, relatives and those poor elderly people who have little savings left to spend during their silver years.

  • ‘Homosexuals’ Need To Educate Conservative SG Muslims

This is a response to the recent posting made by Azman Ivan Tan who asserted that homosexuals are “delusional”.

Sexual identity and religion are sensitive and contradictory issues in Singapore. Only a few are willing to discuss them open-mindedly. Most are likely to say that having a different sexual preference is a perversion of religion and a betrayal of human nature or social norms.

The strict adherence to the varied messages that can be taken from the Quran, and the staunch opposition to homosexuality that exists within the Islamic faith, form the foundation of many of the issues that LGBT Muslims face.

But there are still some in the Muslim community who feel that homosexuality is a “delusion”, a “mental illness” or a “phenomenon”, and who stress an avoidance of one’s homosexual desires in an effort to keep in line with their Islamic beliefs. Fellow Muslim brothers Azman Ivan Tan and Ustaz Noor Deros who started this Wear White Movement have clearly illustrated this in the most unpalatable way.

The notion of being gay and Muslim at the same time is very tough when we see how stereotypical views about gay people are still present in our society. Most people grossly conflate gayness with pedophilia, promiscuity, social pathology and other stigmas.

It is therefore imperative to foster dialogue between religious groups and gay communities to bridge the difference. Instead of renouncing gay people as deviant, religious groups should embrace them and learn how to synchronize their situation with Islam.

Gay people, therefore, need to explain their situations sincerely by either coming out in public when they are ready for it, or feeling comfortable with their personal state before expecting society to understand them.

In fact, two-way communication to bring different perspectives about sexual identity and to convey the message that it is a fluid concept should be encouraged in order to create commonalities among components of society.

The stigma still exists. It will take time to change that.

  • The Tudung Issue: Open Letter to the Prime Minister

    jufrie12e

    jufrie_mohamed_WP

    MalayForum2-1Dear Prime Minister,

Wishing you a very Happy New Year.

I hope that what I am going to say here will help to make you reconsider your stance with regard to several issues which the Malay Muslim community has long been unhappy about, the latest of which concerns its women folks’  desire to wear the tudung wherever their employment may be.

To say that the Malay Muslim community is sad and disappointed with your decision to still disallow its woman folks in certain sectors of employment to don the tudung is an understatement.

As usual the mainstream media tried to paint a different picture with its lopsided report. The Berita Harian topped it up with a group photo of seemingly happy, smiling people to give the false impression that the community is happy with your decision. I do not see any sensible reason as to why they should be smiling.

Inso far as this issue is concerned the community has been keeping track of statements made by your ministers, including those of the Minister in charge of Muslim Affairs and members of Parliament from your party over the last few months.

I read the statement you made after last Saturday’s dialog session several times over to try and make some sense of what you were saying and what message it was supposed to convey.

I find it strange that in spite of having lived among Malay Muslims all your life and after more than 50 years lording over the people – 55 years of PAP rule since 1959 – you and senior members of your party still do not understand the psyche of the Malays and their steadfastness over their religious faith.

Perhaps you have been relying too much on feedback from the mainstream media and from people around you who may include those who regard themselves ulamas and who have the tendency of making a virtue of telling you only what they think you would like to hear.  Many among them may have mastered the art of posturing or are simply playing the PR game.

If you continue to rely on the mainstream media – in this case the Berita Harian, which many in the community feel is being micro managed by your Minister in charged of Muslim Affairs – for your feedback and be counseled largely by people around you, chances are you will remain blissfully ignorant of what the Malay ground is really saying.

Some are already saying that the Prime Minister seems to think that he is now mightier than God since he has the power to easily overrule what has been made obligatory by the religion.

They are not happy that they have to subject themselves to the discretion and whims and of the government even in carrying out certain aspects of their religious obligation.

Granted that not all Muslim women will want to put on the tudung even if they are allowed to. That is their personal choice and they are answerable to God for their defiance. As for those who choose to don the tudung it is felt that there should not be an earthly power to prevent them from doing so. Even the Constitution guarantees them the freedom to practise their religion.

You also warned against a ‘push back’ from the other communities should we insist on having it our way.

At the same time you noted that the issue over the tudung was an old one and that you fully appreciate the desire of those who want the headscarf to be able to be worn by women more freely. According to you the change has got to be gradual.

It can be agreed that change has got to be gradual. We have no quarrel with that and have been patiently waiting for change to happen. There has not been muchprogress since the 10 years that the issue last surfaced. We are neither asking for any concession nor are we taking anything away from or even depriving the other communities of anything, let alone intruding into their space.

As such the likelihood of any push back from the other communities is very remote. It is only your government that is making it sound so threatening. Singaporeans are very rational  people and when given the proper explanation as well as by citing examples shown by other countries where Muslims make up even smaller numbers there is less likelihood that they would raise any objection.

As things stand today, there is no evidence that members of the other communities are unhappy if Muslims women are allowed to wear the tudung no matter where their places of employment may be. They have got so usedto such sights. Contrary to what you think, my experience shows that they are quite supportive of our effort. This only goes to show how out of the touch you and your government are with the ground.

I shall not dwell into the example you mentioned, equating the tudung issue with the putting up of Chinese language signs on the circle line as I feel that it is irrelevant in this discussion and totally out of context. This can be discussed at another forum.

ButI agree that the issue at hand is broader than the tudung itself. I suppose you are trying to say that you have to be fair to followers of the other faiths, hence the term ‘push back ‘. I suppose the breath of the issue also include the need to broaden the common space and your government’s declared intention to build an inclusive society.

I find this argument quite hollow and insincere. On the one hand you and yourministers talk about broadening the common space and the government’s desire in building aninclusive society. But on the other hand and in practice you are shrinking the common space by importing large numbers of immigrants mainly from the People’s Republic of China, India and the Philippines to swarm our limited space and in the process making life less bearable for Singaporeans. This has also further reduced the percentage of Malays compared to the others. Again no worries about any push back.

But what is so annoying and detestable to the Malays is the carving out of areas and making them exclusive to non Malays and Muslims. In case you miss the point I am referring to your long time discriminatory national service policy which bars us from large sectors of the armed forces, especially the in the more specialised areas in the army, the air force and the navy.

You have turned these sectors into exclusive domains of the non Malays and non Muslims. And you still have the audacity to talk about broadening the common space andbuilding an inclusive society? Can there be more hypocritical than this. We are taken to be fools.

The psychological, and to a certain extent, economic, damage this destructive policy has done to the nation as a whole and to the Muslims in particular is incalculable. This is no way to build a united multi ethnic nation. Of course you are not worried about any push back since non Malays make up an overwhelming 86.6% of the population.

For the sake of our future as a peaceful, united and progressive nation urgent steps need to be taken to make right where you have gone wrong.

You may begin by allowing our Muslim female nurses to don the tudung and gradually the other sectors like the Customs and Immigration, the Civil Defence and the rest. This should be followed by changes to other areas. Let us celebrate our diversity in unity.

    Sincerely yours,

    Mohamed Jufrie Mahmood

  • Perlukah Kempen Pakai Baju Putih Untuk Tangani Isu LBGT dan PinkDot?

    Salam

White tu ikut sejarah Islam memanglah asal warna kesukaaan Rasulullah saw.

Susahkan kita mahu tegakkan besarkan “soal warna” ni?

Bagi saya tak perlu a berkejar all out dan stop LBGT ni semua.. The most kita boleh nasihat jika berlaku depan mata kita saje.. Berdoa…

  • Clarification on New Islamic Independent Body and Wear White Movement

    Suggestions By Ustaz Noor Deros:

In my discussions with many muslims about this issue I managed to gather some good suggestions, these are some of them :

    – Organise an easy, simple, yet clear and easily viral event such as WEAR WHITE DAY ON THE FIRST OF RAMADAN.

Together with this, all/some of the mosque in Singapore – on the first of ramadan especially – should deliver a clear call to taubah, explaining the concept of fitrah, freedom & sexuality in Islam.

In my opinion, this is the most viable, I and my friends will take this on, you are invited to lend a hand. Please contact me if you are interested.

    – Veterans and experienced Mega Maulid/Islamic Events organisers especially the lead and crowdpulling asatizahs should come together and organise a mega program on the first of ramadan, maybe a mega terawih session in a stadium. FOR THE LOVE OF THE PROPHET S.A.W. We will give our support.

    – Short videos stating our stand on this issue as Muslims living in Singapore. (This is a must)

    – Continuous series of talks and seminars on Islam and the LGBT. (Such programs have started, but we need more of it)

    – Talks on Islamic Worldview/ Islamic View of Existence. (This is the most important)

Oh Muslims! Our amal ma’ruf nahi munkar is never and should never be restricted to only Muslims. If your non-muslim neighbour tries to kill an innocent life in front of you what do you do? Harm should not be restricted to physical, for we muslims strongly believe in the reality of spiritual harm.

Oh Muslims! We have been fighting about petty issues for too long, Isn’t it high time for us to come together for something that is common between us?

Come come! Let us all together make taubah!

Scholars should make taubah of their muteness and inaction!

Those who have fallen into the pit of LGBT lifestyle should make taubah of their transgression!

Those of us who think that we are clean and are guarenteed salvation because we are religious, should make the most istighfar! For that is the worse kind of delusion!

Welcome! Welcome oh ye month of Maghfirah!
