OCT Ahmad Arif Ibrahim Cemerlang, Raih Pedang Kehormatan Dan Anugerah Bayonet Emas

Untuk mengongsi pengalaman para pegawai kadet, edisi kedua buku ‘One of A Kind’ juga dilancarkan semalam. Edisi pertama diterbitkan pada 2007.

  • Being An Officer In And Out Of Camp

Being An Officer In And Out Of Camp

Stepping forward for the men in green

Some days ago, a story surfaced on social media where a man calmly mediated a misunderstanding between a NSF and a member of public on an MRT train. Our Singapore Army found that the man was no other than LTA Dionel Arun, a Platoon Commander in the 3rd Battalion, Singapore Guards.

LTA Dionel was returning home when he saw that a member of the public was upset about a soldier accidentally spilling plain water on the MRT. Noticing the distress in the servicemen, he stepped forward to apologise for the soldier’s actions anEditd assisted to clean up the spilled water.

LTA Dionel shared, “As a commander, I believe we are responsible for our soldiers whether in or out of camp, in or out of uniform and regardless of the unit. I feel that we need to appreciate our soldiers, who dedicate two years of their time serving the country. They deserve to be respected.”

That’s truly leading by example and caring for our soldiers. Well done LTA Dionel!

  • Confessions Of A Gay Officer In The SAF

Confessions Of A Gay Officer In The SAF

I’m an officer with the saf. And I am gay. I was being investigated by the MSD for allegations of “bringing disrepute to the saf” by visiting a gay club earlier last year, and further, being penalized by confessing I am gay.

I was deemed a security threat, had my security clearance downgraded, transferred to a non-ops unit and my promotion stalled among all the ridiculous “measures” to “manage” me. The most humiliating thing was to sign a form which basically says i can’t be gay & to refrain from engaging in any homosexual activities.

But, there was a stark clause which says I can’t have a gay partner. I politely told them to exclude that clause because I ve been in a relationship with my partner for 6 years. I was not going to allow an “sop” to dictate who I want to be with. MSD agreed.

I just want to encourage servicemen esp nsfs who are gay and are afraid of coming out – you are not alone; never let anyone put u down for who u are. Have the courage to stand up for yourself. Now, go be fabulous.
