Man Reports Purchasing Gelatin-Injected Shrimp From Shanghai Market

A shopper in Shanghai was one of the unfortunate souls to recently report finding his freshly purchased shrimp stuffed with…blobs of gelatin.

According to local newspapers, the man brought home and peeled open his market-bought shrimp only to discover the translucent, jelly-like substance spilling out from its body.

Last month, we reported that a buyer made a similarly horrifying discovery after picking up some shrimp at a market in Wenzhou.

It’s believed that because shrimp tend to shrivel up after defrosting, some market owners pump them with gelatin to make them look more plump and fresh. Injecting them with the additives can increase their weight by 20 to 30 percent.

Gelatin can be safely consumed, but some have speculated that industrial glue may be added to the shrimp, which could be harmful.

Reporters suggest that buyers closely inspect fresh shrimp at markets to detect any unusual “bulging” action. You’ve been warned, Shanghai shoppers. Look at the disgusting pictures below and keep your eyes…wait…peeled.

  • Parents Allowed Child To Defecate In Cabin Of Shenzen Airlines Flight Because Toilet Was Too Small

Parents Allowed Child To Defecate In Cabin Of Shenzen Airlines Flight Because Toilet Was Too Small

Passengers onboard a Shenzhen Airlines flight ZH9709 from Nanjing to Guangzhou on Sunday complained that two parents allowed their child to defecate in the back of the cabin.

This happened despite both bathrooms on the plane being vacant at the time, according to witnesses cited in aNetEase News report.

A flight attendant reportedly saw the child soiling the area in the back of the cabin before the plane took off, with the mother and another relative happily propping the kid up as if they were in a squat toilet.

When asked why she didn’t get the child to use the bathroom instead, the mother answered, “Your bathrooms are too small, the three of us can’t get in. It’s so spacious out here!”

Grossly enough, this isn’t the first case of its kind. A Chinese family made headlines last summer after they reportedly allowed their child to do his business in the cabin aisle of a Delta Airlines fight from Beijing to the US. In 2013, a mainland Chinese mother caused a scene after she was photographed letting her son take a squat on the floor at a Taiwan airport.

Chinese tourists don’t necessarily have the cleanest track record when it comes to non-poop-related travel horror stories, either.

  • Singaporeans Furious That ‘China Chiobu’ Got NDP Tickets But They Didn’t

Singaporeans Furious That ‘China Chiobu’ Got NDP Tickets But They Didn’t

Many watching the National Day Parade from home yesterday remarked that Mediacorp coverage tended to focus on a certain lady in the crowd, and were eager to find out who the chio bu (pretty girl) was.

Well, it seems that the chio bu in question is known as Emma Lee, and she shared on her Weibo social media account that her birthday falls on August 9.

    And she’s a China national.

That’s when anger began mounting amongst the Singaporean public, with many questioning why foreigners get to watch the parade live, when they couldn’t get tickets despite years of balloting.

    Said Amat Yabar:

“I LIVED HERE FOR MORE THAN 3 DECADES AS A LOCAL BORN AND SERVED MY BLOODY NS AND I HAVE NEVER EVEN ONCE GOT THE CHANCE TO GET TICKETS TO TSEE MY OWN COUNTRY NDP, AND THESE BLOODY FOREIGNERS CAN GET TICKETS LIKE NOBODY BUSINESS!!!”

Edwina Teo is disappointed that Singaporeans couldn’t get a seat to celebrate the nation’s golden jubilee year.

“If for some reasons they got it through friends or buy it somewhere, it’s ok. But if otherwise, then it’s isn’t fair. Many Singaporeans out there are trying hard to get hold of tickets to this year NDP but are downcasted and disappointed because they didn’t managed to get them. Why aren’t these allocated to Singaporeans instead? Afterall, its Singapore’s 50th Golden Jubilee and isn’t Singaporean be given priority? What do they know about the history, the significance, the essence when the themes are played? They only know how to woos and wahs! Sad indeed. My opinion.”

    So too, Caroline Xeranella:

“My husband has applied it ever since he is young until now he already had a daughter, also didn’t managed to get the tickets.”

Lionel Koung apparently missed the boat again this year, and was disppointed that he got leap-frogged by a foreigner.

“I have been trying to get tickets to watch Ndp for years and I don’t even get one and yet all this foreign talents are there watching. Don’t you feel that it’s so ironical???”

But Adelene Bek offered a more balanced perspective.

“Honestly, I dun suka em too. However, anyone in sg can go see the parade – incl a tourist if he/she is given a tix.”

The Singaporean public has to ballot online for tickets to watch the National Day Parade.

They will have to choose during the balloting processs if they want tickets to watch the actual parade, or one of the NDP previews.

  • ‘Mystery Beauty’ At NDP Live Telecast Identified – She’s Not Local

‘Mystery Beauty’ At NDP Live Telecast Identified – She’s Not Local

On Sunday, one woman stood out from the crowd at the National Day Parade as the cameras lingered on her five times during the 3-hour long live telecast.

The mystery beauty turned out to be Miss Emma Lee, 29, a China national who is so bowled over by Singapore that she wants to apply for permanent residency and settle here.

The beauty has drive, too, working as a managing director for a company, SinMetal, which she set up.

Previously, she had watched the fireworks at Marina Bay in 2012 and 2013 , so she was eager to go for the NDP this year, for a personal reason – it was her birthday.

  • PRC Launched Into Unprovoked Assaults Of Singaporean Lady And Screams Racist Vulgarities

PRC Launched Into Unprovoked Assaults Of Singaporean Lady And Screams Racist Vulgarities

    Freaking mad woman.

I was jogging as usual along the school near my place when this mad Chinese woman pounced out of nowhere and slapped me twice. She claimed that I scolded her previously. Madness. I have never set eyes on her before. And I am not even in Singapore most of this and last year. And since she spoke in mandarin with a mainland accent, I told her I do not know any cuss words in mandarin to have said to her. Then she called me a racist name. Stupid. If I am not Chinese, would I understand the filth pouring out of her mouth??

Then she started screaming at me on and on about how Singaporeans are crazy. She wanted to hit me again and I started shrieking at the top of my voice for help for a whole good few minutes. Of course, this whole deserted area around the construction site has to be surrounded by her sort of Chinese.Nobody appeared until finally, a China man came to try to separate us. And he pulled me back from grabbing her. I was incensed. I don’t give two hoots if you both came from the same country.

Then she tried to walk away as I told her I was going to call the police. And she was still cussing Singaporeans as we both waited for the police to arrived.

I have no idea what she has against Singaporeans. Maybe somebody insulted her?

Madness. I will see her in court. I don’t give a crap about whether it’s a case of mistaken identity, racism or whatever.

My ear is still ringing, my cheek is swollen and left eye is still seeing stars. And my glasses are bent out of shape.

I stayed in Australia for one year, and nothing happened. I stayed out late there, and nothing bad happened.

I come back home to Singapore, and was minding my own business and this happened. I think Singapore is not safe anymore. How can it be when there are all these hooligans around?

Now I finally understand why a number of Singaporeans are against the influx of these sort of people. I didn’t use to be. Now, I really don’t feel safe with this sort of people.

And Singapore is not China, by the way. Don’t bring your uncouth ways here. You can come here and think that the Chinese here is your kind of Chinese. Some are, some are not. You should just stick with your sort. Violent, crazy person. Lunatic that think it’s ok to go around bashing people like it’s China.

I have friends from China, and they don’t behave like this person, People like that sure contaminates the broth.

I really feel unsafe. Not intimidated, just unsafe. The policeman sent me home and told me to carry my phone whenever I’m around the area. What has become of this country? What do I need to carry around to protect myself next time here?
