Maid Gives Birth To Stillborn, Hides Body In Drawer At Employer’s House

A 33-year-old maid who gave birth to a dead baby boy and kept the body in a drawer at her employer’s house has been arrested.

The incident occurred on Monday (Oct 19) afternoon at a two-storey house along Lorong Ong Lye in Serangoon.

According to Shin Min Daily News, the woman, said to be a maid from Indonesia, had complained to her employers that she was not feeling well.

She was taken to a clinic and subsequently referred to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital for tests, where a doctor suspected that she had recently given birth.

Upon further questioning, the woman admitted to having delivered a baby boy who died on birth and having hidden the body in a drawer in a second-floor room at her employers’ house.

When contacted, a police spokesman said it was alerted to the incident at 1.22pm and discovered the baby’s body in the drawer.

The baby was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.

The spokesman said the woman was arrested for concealment of birth by secret disposal of a dead body.

The Straits Times understands that the baby was born premature at five months old.

Shin Min said the woman has been working for the family – an elderly couple and their daughter, her husband and her 11-year-old son – for more than a year. According to the report, the maid is married with two sons.

Some gundu stole my helmet and i admit it was my mistake to leave my helmet unattended on my motorbike. You can have that helmet but you seriously had to puncture my tyre?

Sikit hari motor hilang, sekarang helmet hilang siap pancitkan tyre lagi. Wahai gundu, if youre not satisfied with me, i urge you to confront me personally. SERIOUSLY.

Oh i forgot theres a cctv camera facing directly at my motorbike ?

Singapore Signs International Convention Against Racial Discrimination

The Republic signed the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD) on Oct 19 (Monday) in New York, and is expected to ratify the ICERD in 2017.

The ICERD is a United Nations Convention that condemns racial discrimination based on race, colour, descent, nationality or ethnic origin, and calls upon states to pursue a policy of eliminating racial discrimination in all its forms.

Said the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth in a statement: “Singapore is committed to preserving a multiracial society where every person is equal, regardless of race, language or religion.

“Our historical memory of racial riots in the early years of our nationhood continues to guide our efforts in striving towards a society free of racism and racial discrimination. Social harmony is not taken for granted, and we have strived continually to strengthen inter-racial and inter-faith understanding and mutual respect.

“Signing the ICERD is part of this endeavour to enhance racial and religious harmony in Singapore.”

Singapore first confirmed its intention to consider acceding to the ICERD in 2011. The MCCY said the Republic will work progressively towards the ratification of the ICERD in 2017, and will work with our stakeholders, including through public consultations, to fulfil our obligations.

Added Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Grace Fu: “Over the last 50 years, we have built a Singapore where every citizen matters, regardless of race, language or religion. This has been our fundamental approach to nation-building and will continue to guide us into the future. Signing the ICERD further entrenches our commitment to this end, to unequivocally show that racial discrimination has no place in Singapore.”

Watch Out! Someone Hacked My DBS Debit Card And Used It Overseas

Dear ASS Editors,

These few days someone else unknown kept using my debit card to purchase online games. I suspected someone had hacked into my Debit card account.

So now it seems that this case was really serious to get reported on newspaper. As the amount being embezzled illegally from my debit card kept on balling and now already balled to sum of SGD 400plus dollars. And all transactions are in Euro and USD.

And I am not guaranteed that this transaction will be stopped yet as the DBS bank just blocked my card on 14 Oct. The current transaction were dated on 11 Oct as some only to passed thru on these few days. So I really worried that there are still transactions will be balled again btw 12 to 13 Oct.

I also reported to police. I also spent these few days kept checking my bank account thru ibanking worrying that there are somemore new transactions coming in. Kept calling the bank too. As this dispute had much amount to investigate according to bank, they need 14 to 21 days in order to get back my returns.

Would Myanmar Nationals Want A Government Like Singapore’s?

I read with amusement how Myanmar nationals are hoping for change and that the Myanmar junta would be replaced by a government like Singapore’s PAP.

People from third world countries like Myanmar, Philippines and Malaysia admire the Singapore government for the outer facade it presents: strong Sing dollar currency, non-corruption (we Singaporeans know better how truly corrupted the Singapore government is the legal way), safe (unless you offend the wrong group), ample employment opportunities, number of shopping centers (oh you be surprised they gauge how wealthy a country is by the number of shopping malls it has) and etc. These foreign nationals mistakenly believe that Singapore is a pride of Asia and that an “Asian” country can be as good as any first world countries.

Unfortunately, due to the vast gap in understanding democracy and the real definition of a first world country, they fell under the false impression Singapore is an ideal country which they wish their government would be like so. Perhaps in their eagerness against the very evils of their own governments, they sought relief from a new country where its government constantly lie about non-corruption, citizens-first and with-you-for-you war cries. They teared along when they heard Lee Kuan Yew died; knowing nothing of the evils the dictator did. Singapore is their utopia and Singaporeans who complain were told they are more than happy to trade their Prime Ministers for Lee Hsien Loong.

Blinded and frustrated by the sorry state of affairs in their homeland, foreigners who praise the Singapore government are honestly those with very shallow and backward mindsets, with their understanding of governance and societies at superficial levels and knowing nothing about macro-economics, political dynamics, sustainability, positioning and the very dangerous consequences of having the kind of leadership Singapore has. In their point of view, Singapore is on the right track and there is nothing to worry about Singapore and even so for the next 50 years. Including new citizens and PRs, they were not brought up through the Singapore system and were largely ignorant of the sacrifices and trade-offs of being a Singaporean.

After all, people who reached maturity do not make flippant suppositions like trading their Prime Ministers for Lee Hsien Loong. Take up the Singapore citizenship, Lee Hsien Loong will make sure you take back your words. Till then, good luck hoping for change in Myanmar.
